Mission: Episode 15 - The Evil That Lies Beneath
Location: Drop Shuttle Hawkeye - Shuttle Bay - Deck 10 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD005 2100 hrs

Marine Drop Shuttle Hawkeye - USS Pioneer Shuttle Bay
Getting a discreet message out to people was harder than you would think. There had been strange goings on within the ship for a while now and it was getting harder to ignore.

Behavioral changes in the Captain, some Lachlan had noticed, others Petty Officer Cipriani had brought to his attention, and also in Rowena. A new found confidence he didn't realize she needed, or had in her locker.

Then there were people missing and Lachlan just couldn't explain that at all. The Captain didn't seem to care, the command structure of the ship seemed to be dwindling. Something had to be done.

The Hawkeye was one of the securest places he knew. It was under his control, and he could open it up without raising any suspicion. He'd not actually power the vessel up, that would set off alarm bells and he wanted this meeting to be kept quiet.

He had a feeling how it would go...

Arriving with Captain Merrick, his superior, the back of the shuttle opened. "I hope we know what we are doing sir." he said in reference to what was to come. They'd both shared concerns with each other over recent days.

"This is what needs to be discussed, as to what we're going to be needing to do." Merrick replied as he stepped into the Hawkeye. "Something like this can't go on and it could also call it for the safety of Tyler." Edmund moving over to where he could take a seat.

"Oh I'm aware." Lachlan puffed his cheeks. "But it needs to be done right. If we do this the wrong way then it is everyone who's involved that gets in trouble. Worse case is a dishonorable discharge from service, maybe even prison time."

Edmund nodded, "This sort of discussion isn't something to be taken lightly. And I never thought I'd be doing something like this. " he looked over towards the opening. "Looks like the others have gotten the message."

Narin approached the shuttle cautiously. Doubts crept into his mind, wondering if this invitation was a prank. So far, his experience aboard this vessel had been far from ordinary. He found himself questioning what constituted as “normal” for this crew and vessel. That was one of many questions Narin had but feared that whatever this was would yield a few answers. His scientific nature craved and demanded answers, but the answer often provided for new questions. He concluded that it prudent to participate and see how things played out. He stepped up to the shuttle door.

Not long after Narin entered that Wren approached the shuttle as well. He looked at the assembled group skeptically. When he got the cryptic message to report to the shuttlebay, he was wary. Given Rhea Wren’s reputation, the Commodore’s greeting of him and the general odd antics of the crew, Daris was half expecting an ambush by crew believing he was part of the New Maquis. When he stepped inside, he nodded at the others and found a spot to watch the space quietly.

Jayna suspected the captain would be monitoring crew activity, so she carefully manipulated the computer so it would show her working in her office long enough for her to get to the shuttle bay and participate in the meeting. She dared do this once, and she considered this first meeting the best time to try it--before the captain and Rowena got suspicious. She took a roundabout route to the shuttle bay and then onto the Hawkeye, nodding to the others as she entered.

The more Kat learned about Ty's erratic behavior, the more she worried. She felt she had to be part of this meeting and help fix whatever was going on for the sake of her baby--and for her husband. As she approached the shuttle bay, she met one of the counselors. "Hello. Are you here for the same reason I am?"

Zhara nodded. "I assume so. Although I'm surprised to see you here, commander."

"You shouldn't be. This involves my husband and his crew. Of course I'm going to be here." She rubbed her belly. "I'm also doing this for my child."

"I don't blame you." That did make sense to the counselor. "Your expertise will be welcome."

"Thank you. But please, don't call me commander. Just call me Kat. I'm not here as a Starfleet officer."

"Then call me Zhara." She smiled at the other woman. "I think I'm mostly here for moral support, but I'll do what I can."

The two walked onto the shuttle and greeted everyone.

Trelor regretted the fact he still didn't know many of the staff outside of Engineering. It wasn't a large ship, but there were several people he needed to get to know. However, he'd heard some strange rumors since moving into this assignment. At first, he had attempted to ignore them, but now, a secret meeting. It would have been a lie to say he wasn't at least interested.

Entering the shuttle bay, Trelor nodded to the Officers there.

Speed walking into the shuttle bay, Rachel paused for a moment to catch her breath before nodding to the other officers, “sorry I’m late. Commodore Malbrooke had me recalibrate the internal sensors.”

"Thank you for coming." Edmund responding to Rachel's arrival.

Tyler sat on the bridge and watched as those who were supposed to be his Senior Staff walked into the Shuttle Bay. He had no idea what they were doing or why they were going down there. However, Tyler was not a brand new officer. You did not get the boxed pip for nothing. He knew they were coming, and he was ready. If they tried to take the Bridge from him there would be lives lost and blood spilled. That was the surface of the Captain's brain. Deep within in an ever smaller part of his brain the real Tyler resided and tried to fight. If anyone will stop you and her it is this crew. He had the faith in their victory whether he lived or died.
