Last Time On Pirate Island Part II...

“I was thinking back to when we were first married,” Ameri said with a smile. “How far we have come and how happy We are and how it didn’t take luck but love and compromise.” She shook her head. “I’m done, let’s get a drink and have some fun!”

"Those were some fun days, and you are right. We have come a long ways." Quinn said, thinking to himself, the fire and the passion he had for wife, was stronger today. Than it was all those years ago. He cared for her deeply.

And Now The Continuation...

It was getting close to the time for the first "guest" appearance, so Jayna and Jayde began to circulate to make sure everything was going well. Neither of the women knew many people here, so they were content to work in the background. They let the others talk and simply walked around.

A gong sounded and the music stopped playing. A hush spread through the jungle. Even the insects seemed to grow silent.

A man in a light blue pirate coat and breeches stumbled out of the jungle. He had long dreadlocks and carried a bottle of rum. "Ahoy, mateys. I've lost me treasure. I left it around here somewhere. it's in a chest, you can't miss it. A pirate chest." He smiled. "Split into teams and search for it. The first team to find me treasure will get a reward." He turned to go back the way he'd come and stumbled, turning back. "Oh, yes. It's buried. There was a map, but I lost it. You have two hours." He took a long swig of rum and went back into the jungle, singing "Yo ho, yo ho, a Pirate's life for me."

Lyna turned and looked at Paul. She had a puzzled look on her face. "Treasure?"

Paul smiled at her. "During the 1600's on Earth, pirates roamed the seas, attacking sailing vessels and looting them. The pirates, would take the treasure to an island and bury it.....dig a hole and place the chest inside it...with the hope that they would return later and dig it up. But most pirates were captured or killed, so their treasure laid unclaimed."

Lyna nodded, "So this is part of the game? We have to find it? Can we bring a tricorder?"

Paul shook his head, "No technology allowed...we have to find it on our own." Conveniently, there was a pile of shovels nearby. Grabbing two and handing one to her, "This is all we can use. Hopefully, there will be clues to help us." He took her hand and they headed in the direction the pirate came from.

Jayde made note of the two so she could keep track of the teams and where they went.

Paul led the way, looking for signs of the drunken pirate.....something that might lead them to the treasure.....or look for recently displaced dirt.

He heard rustling in the bush.

Quinn had noticed something got the attention of Paul. "What is it, Lieutenant?" He asked, expecting a pirate to jump out of the bush, and to get this party going.

"Not sure. It could be someone hiding, or an animal." Paul raised his shovel as he moved closer to the bush.

A wild pig ran out of the brush and cut across their path, then disappeared.

Someone cursed. A young male in ragged pants, a white shirt, and a bandanna ran after it, swearing. He stopped when he saw the group, gasped, and ran back the way he'd come.

Quinn gave a big laugh. "What in the world...." He started to say, as he watched the man chase after the pig, that just vanished. What a sight to see. "I'm not sure, I want to know what that was about." He said, as he looked over to Paul and then at his lovey girlfriend.

“All a part of the realism,” Ameri smiled. “If you two decide to chase a pig, count me out. I prefer to have my bacon on a plate with eggs, potatoes and toast.”

Paul grabbed Lyna's hand. "We're going to follow that man....he might know something." Pulling Lyna, they headed off in the direction the young man went.

“Well my handsome pirate,” Ameri smiled seductively at her husband. “Where Shall we head.”

Down the path a ways could be heard the sound of men singing a bawdy sea shanty.
* * *

Tyler arrived at the doors to the holodeck wearing the uniform of a member of the US colonial navy, the pirates he believed in. He popped his cuffs as he waited for his wife to arrive. No sooner did he think of it then he saw his wife coming down the corridor wearing dress akin to his. Two steps behind her was Vaebn wearing a peculiar uniform. Well peculiar for the Romulan anyway. "Hey honey..." Tyler embraced his wife and in a rare show of affection in front of the crew he gave her a kiss. "Vaebn I have to ask... What are you wearing? I mean I know what it is, but on you it does not add up."

"Well sir, after doing some research into the pirates of your homeworld, I decided that they were the antithesis to my, and my peoples, beliefs in most ways. We are more inclined to make gains through deception, subterfuge and calculated moves, as opposed to violence and theft. That is more Klingon than Romulan. However, I did find that a country called Great Britain or England, had the most powerful navy at the time of these pirates, and seemed more closely aligned to my own inclinations." He gestured to his choice of clothing; knee high polished black leather boots over white fly button cotton-canvas breeches, a white ruffled collar and sleeve cotton shirt, a white waistcoat with gold trim, a blue woolen double breasted coat with white facing and gold trim, gold filigree and buttons and finished with a black frogged belt with a silver trimmed brass handled boarding saber. "Thus, I am wearing the uniform of a British Naval Officer" he said and he pulled on the blue bicorn hat with gold lace facing, a large white plume and a curious emblem of gold and emerald on the left side.

Tyler's smile broadened as he envisioned Vaebn and he looked like quite the pair to anyone that knew Earth history. Tyler stood there wearing matching boots and pants to his Science Officer. He too wore a white ruffled sleeve and tied collar shirt, except over his shirt he wore a blue woolen coat with gold trim. Tyler's coat did not have the white facing. The accouterments were similar as well. "This is the uniform of the United States Colonial Navy. In Earth history Great Britain was the motherland of the United States. The latter country had a rebellion against Great Britain. At that time this was the uniform for the Navy in the United States. Thus rebels are the best form of pirates, people standing for what they believe in." It was then that Tyler noticed the strange insignia on Vaebn's hat. "I do not believe that Great Britain used that insignia." He gestured to his own hat with a smile.

Kat grinned at her husband. "You look amazing." Then she turned to the science officer. "As do you."

"Thank you my lady," Vaebn said with a curt bow. He stood and looked again at the Captain in his similar uniform. "You would be correct sir," he said indicating the raptor shaped badge on the hat which clutched two emeralds, on in each talon, "I could not leave a part of my own history behind for this foray into the past."
