Mission:
Episode 13 - Crooked River
Location: After 11 - Deck 11 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD002 2230 hrs
"So, are there any interesting spots on the ship that people like going to? " Ja'sol asked. " Just about every ship I've served aboard has a few, other than the holodecks. Some of the older ships even have a kitchen area where you can prep and cook real food, Hydroponic gardens or even a holovid theatre. Anything like that around here? " Ja'sol asked his question showing some curiosity of wanting to know the ship better.
"Scuttlebutt says the science department is creating some sort of garden in a cargo bay. It's not open yet, but it will be once all the plants are ready. And there's always After 11," Kaylara said. "There may be more, but I haven't heard of it yet. I was exploring the station while I had the chance." She hesitated. "With the Marine CO working as first officer, there may be some opportunities for cross-training. The Marines here have some interesting toys."
Ja'sol rubbed his chin briefly. " Armored or energy weapons type of toys? " He asked. " I've always liked interesting toys. " He chuckled. " As for the cross training, I am a very good shuttle pilot. On a scale of one to ten, I would rank myself at a solid seven. I wonder if they'd allow me to cross train as a fighter pilot? The controls aren't much different, It's the thrust, pitch and Yaw that is much more sensitive to the touch, I just might have to inquire." Ja'sol thought a moment. " You say they are starting a garden in a cargo bay? The Science department that is. I wonder if it will be floral or produce garden? " He asked. " When one grows up on an island, you learn to grow what you can with the space you have. I enjoyed gardening and flower arranging and cultivation when I was younger. Put a few benches in there and it would be a great place to go and read or just unwind from the day. That sounds rather nice to me. "
"I'm not sure about either," she said. "I tend to keep my ears open and hear bits and pieces of conversations. The Marines are all talking about working with the fleeters and science was talking a lot about the cargo bay." She shrugged. "You'd have to ask them for details." Although she did plan to stop by once it was open for visitors. "However, being the new head of security gives you a great reason for asking questions."
" This is true." Ja'sol chuckled. " No one thinks twice when the security chief asks questions, That and being new to the ship helps as well. It would give me the chance to ask a few questions and learn a thing or two about some of the people I'll be working with, I'd call that a good start. "
"A very good start," Kaylara said. She finished her ice cream and smiled. "It was nice meeting you. I'm sure I'll see you around."
" It has been a pleasure meeting you and I am sure we will meet again. " He said smiling. " I should get back to my quarters and unpack and get some rest, I'm going to have a busy day tomorrow. Oh and could you let your chief know I'll be around tomorrow to have a chat? That is if your heading back to the office, If not I'll just call him tomorrow. " Said Ja'sol.
"I think you should talk to her. It'll be better than me passing on a message." She smiled at him. "See you around," she said before heading out.
