| General Overview | Kaylara generally keeps to herself. It's not that she's unfriendly, but more that she's had trouble simply because she's Romulan, so she keeps to herself until she feels comfortable around people. This led her to be a bit of a rebel. She listens to pirate metal when she's working alone and can get away with it. She likes to go drinking with buddies after her shift is over to help her relax, but she is not a heavy drinker. |

| Personal History | Kaylara was born on Mars where her father was a communications specialist and her mother was a teacher. When trouble began to brew on Mars, they moved to Pallas IV, one of the medium-sized colonies, wanting to avoid potential problems. Even after the Dominion War prejudice against Romulans was still an issue. Adults didn't bother her, but the kids in school mistrusted her and her father. It wasn't until she was in her late teens that she began to feel comfortable in her own skin. She spent a good deal of her time alone, either reading or working on the computer. As soon as she was old enough, she left home to work on a merchant ship. That only lasted two years before she grew tired of it. She then tried security for a small company, then computer programming for another. Finally, she decided to join Starfleet. She initially wanted to work in operations, but her aptitude for coding and standoffish demeanor fit in more with intelligence. She didn't like the the rules of being an officer, so coding to go in as a non-com. She thrived in her classes. She focused on covert communications and coding. Enlisted life suited her, too. She could do her work and pass the problems up the chain of command. She works well with others when she feels that she's a part of a team, but she can tune people out and focus on her work if she doesn't. For this reason she prefers to work alone and listen to her Pirate Metal. |
