Lwaxana hadn't really been on the station long, so she was still getting the lay of the land. A friend had told her that it was basically a copy of deep space nine. There was one problem, she'd never been there either.
Logging into a console she found a map. She breathed a sigh of relief. At least I know where I'm going now she thought to herself. Entering a lift to make her way to the engineering facilities.
Kat smiled at the young woman who entered the lift. "Hiya, I'm Lieutenant Commander Malbrooke. You must be new here..." She extended her hand in greeting.
"Just arrived actually!" she chuckled. She gladly shook the commanders hand, adding a smile of her own. "Lieutenant Lwaxana Myles, but most people call me Lax." she said.
"Well Lax you can call me Kat... Where are you stationed aboard are little home away from home." Kat said with a broad smile.
"Pleasure to meet you Kat." she said, adding a smile of her own. "Engineering is what my orders say." she said, glancing at her padd.
"It's where I am heading as well, I am the Assistant Chief around these parts. The Chief is a member of the Cardassian Defense Fleet, Glen Peret. She is a real stickler, but an all round good person. Wait a second, Myles... You're Lieutenant Myles' wife aren't you. My husband told me to expect you..." Kat said with a smile as the lift settled on their level.
Lax facepalmed. "Larim caled me and said the boss aprroached him. Your husband must be "the boss"!" she chucked. "Small fleet, huh?"
"Indeed, and yes that is my guy Commander Tyler Malbrooke, he is not so big and bad as he likes to pretend he is." Kat chuckled... "Welcome to the station, we can use all the engineers that we can get our hands on."
"Wouldn't have it another way." Lax said
"So Lax what's yer specialty?" Kat said as she began to walk down the corridor toward Main Engineering. "How do you feel about this mission our men have squirreled off to?"
"Specialty huh?...I'd say damage control if I had to put a finger on it." Lax smiled.
"Nice although we should not have too much use for you as we shouldn't be attacked." Kat laughed as they entered the Engineering section and Kat started to punch up the days duty roster and assignments. Kat replicated herself a cup of coffee. "You need to settle in or are you ready to jump right in."
"I'm a jumper." Lax smiled
"Very well, the Glen would like me to get the orbital maneuvering thrusters back online. She would like to have the capability of moving the station like Deep Space Nine, should the need arise. Care to give me a hand? Any ideas?" Kat went into full business mode, but the thought of this woman's husband as well as her own being placed into harm's way was not far from her mind.
"Id be glad to give you a hand." Lax said, her mind flashing back to Academy days for a solution. Admittedly though, she wasn't coming up with too many ideas. Applying a bit of logic. Well, this thing is basically a copy of DS9 more or less. she thought to herself.
"Sweet, lets get to it then... While the boys are out playing space cowboys, we women will be here having all the fun." Kat said as she winked at her new friend.
"Indeed!" Lax winked back
