Mission: Episode 15 - The Evil That Lies Beneath
Location: Captain Merrick's Office - Deck 9 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD004 1100 hrs

Jayna called the Marine XO, the COB, the ACSO, a security officer who might have an unusual perspective--which could definitely be of help, and one of the Marines on the away team to meet with her in Captain Merrick's office. She didn't dare meet in intel with Rowena prowling the ship.

She had some information that might be helpful, and she hoped they would have more. She was beyond concerned and it was time to start sharing what she'd learned.

S'kaadaar made her way down to the Marine XO's Office, trying to look inconspicuous, which is difficult for a large, reptilian humanoid among a crew of non-reptilian humanoids. She'd heard about disappearances and knew that transporting a humanoid from one place to another without leaving a trace would require a lot of energy and access to the ship's internal sensors.

Jayna paused outside the door to the MXO's office and rang the chime. Neil's office was so close that it made her heart ache.

As S'kaadaar neared the office, she sniffed the air. She picked an unfamiliar scent. She then turned a corner to find the owner of the scent dress in Intelligence grey. "Hello, I am Petty Officer S'kaadaar of Security, I was asked to meet here, Ma'am." She said to the humanoid female.

Stepping out of the closest turbolift, Rachel quickly walked to the MXO's office and knocked on the door and waited for a response. it was a little odd to be called down to marine country but Rachel figured there was a good reason she was there.

Always a busy man, Lachlan had been dealing with some of his other duties on the COB side of his dual role on the Pioneer. A ship that had approximately 115 enlisted crew did make for quite the juggling act. Coming from the other side of the deck he noticed a small group huddling outside Edmund's office and arched a brow. "We getting ready to jump Merrick when he comes out?" he asked smirking a little.

Jayna nodded a greeting to the other arrivals as they gathered outside Merrick's office door.

Edmund was lost in thought as he worked out a list of what was going on. This was being done on paper, a chart with arrows pointing towards connecting the dots. It almost seemed that those who he had contact with, department head wise, had gone missing or were not acting like themselves. Well, those who he had spoken to where Rowena and Tyler were concerned. With an exasperated argh, Edmund leaned back and ran his hands through his hair.

The chime on his door pinging, brought Edmund out of his thoughts. Quickly he rose, and went to the door himself, opening it. He was rather surprised seeing those who had gathered there.

"Er, uh come on in, please. " He greeted them, stepping back to allow entrance. "What's going on?"

"Hi, I hope you don't mind that I invited everyone here. I need to talk to all of you."

S'kaadaar looked into Merrick's office. "Nice office you have here, Captain she said.

"I have information I'd like to share with you," Jayna said.

Edmund walked over towards his desk, and began stacking up the papers he had been working on. "Okay information, what do you have and would anyone like a drink?" turning to face those there.

"None for me, thank you," Jayna said. She wanted to take care of business and move on to her next project. At some point she would have to go back to her quarters, but she'd avoid that for as long as she could.

"A hot cup of raktajino for me, sir, please." S'kaadaar said. She'd developed a taste for the Klingon beverage during her time as a subject in the Klingon Super soldier experiments.

"I'm fine sir, thank you." Lachlan waved off the offer of a drink. "Just eager to hear why we've been called here." he added.

"I hope that it will answer some of my questions as well. " Merrick remarked, while he went to get S'kaadaar her raktajino. He already had some tea previously which was now lukewarm. Handing the Gorn the beverage, he moved back behind his desk. "Okay what sort of information do you have?" having a look at Jayna.

Gaagii arrived at Merrick's office later than everyone else. He had been tending to a number of duties, some of which were his normally and others were added due to disappearances and the shifting of crew. When permission was given for him to enter he stepped in and came to attention. "Sir, my apologies for my tardiness. I am reporting as requested. Sir." He addressed Merrick when he walked in."

"Thank you." Merrick acknowledged, giving a nod.

"Since the disappearance of Major Tremble, I've been looking for answers. CPO Xeres reminded me of the suits we wore in the underwater facility. From there, I've discovered that Corporal Shy was possessed by a perceivable entity. The suit's data shows the entity entering the suit." She paused for that to sink in. "As Captain Merrick will confirm, Commander McGowen deleted the data from the Serenity about the return trip. I previously copied that data and confirmed that she went to help the corporal on the shuttle and the entity transferred to her. I can provide the data for both events. It is my belief that the commander is still possessed by this entity and believe that has something to do with the recent disappearances. It may also have something to do with the captain's current mental state. What I don't know is how to find where the crew went or how to get them back."

That was the most important information. The rest was corollary. "I've asked science and medical to see if they can find a way to block this entity from affecting anyone else and see if they can find out what happened to the crew."

Gaagii had no knowledge of any of this. Save for the fact that Corporal Shy was injured on that mission, and that Sergeant Thompson tended to their wounds. "Lieutenant Ma'am. Based on what you have said, and what you are looking for. Is there a reason that I am here?"

Jayna nodded. "You were on the other team that went to engineering. You might have additional knowledge I don't. Even if it's not about the possessions, any information on that entity will be of help."

"Perhaps, I could 'sniff out' the infected." S'kaadaar suggested. "Illnesses can change someone's scent. If this entity has a biological component, it would likely affect the 'possessed individual's scent, and I am the one here with the most sensitive sense of smell." She said.

Jayna raised an eyebrow. She hadn't considered enhanced scent and she should have, being half Vulcan. "If you could, that would be helpful. It would be less obvious than scanning. Try and see if you notice anything different about the captain and the commander."

"I can try, Ma'am." S'kaadaar said.

Gaagii had taken the past few moments to gather his thoughts. He did not want to think about what happened down in the deep. He had hoped he would never have to think about those events again. Slowly, even slower than his normal speech cadence he began to speak to Jayna. "Lieutenant ma'am. What happened in that engineering bay is seared into the deepest recesses of my brain. It was an entity that seemed to be everywhere, and wanted nothing save to do evil. Tentacles that reached out everywhere you went, somehow it seemed to be one step ahead of us in everything that we did. There seemed to be no way out. We attempted to destroy the attacker by overloading our weapons. However, the enemy was a step ahead and somehow avoided the explosion."
