Mission: Episode 14 - The Poseidon Adventure
Location: Conference Room - Command Tier Deck 11 - Poseidon Station
Timeline: MD007 1600 hrs

A few days later, after Edmund had met Commander K'doc Valadorn, chief of security. He sent a message to both Valadorn and Tremble.

it read as follows. "Sirs, figured that this meeting needed to be set up. Especially since the Marine Ball will take place sometime soon. I've got a meeting place set up in a small conference room. I have sent a message to Lieutenant Andloch as well. I'll be waiting for your arrival. Captain Merrick. "

Jali looked at the e-mail with curiosity in her eyes, when she saw the message. Looked like there was going to be a meeting of some sort.

"Commander Valadorn, just got a message from Captain Merrick looks like he has set up a meeting for us to attend."

K'doc looked up. " Very well, Hold down the fort while I'm out, If anything comes up that requires my personal attention then contact me. " He said as he got up from his desk and headed out to the meeting.

Jali was not far behind him. "Commander, it was also meant for me. I've got someone to man the security area while we, are attending this."

Merrick waited in the meeting room, for those who had contacted to arrive..

K'doc arrived at the meeting room and chimed the door and walked in. " I received your message. " Stated the large Klingon, as he laid a small bag on the table that made a clinking sound. " I take it that your Major Tremble will be here soon? " He asked.

Neil, still dressed in his black and tans, was mindful of the chrono. Sighing, his eyes flickered down the corridor as his tracker led him to the meeting room and his HUD triggered the door so he didn't break stride, entering the room and stopping within the door. Removing his cover, he tucked it under one arm and said simply, "Gentlemen."

Jali stepped out from behind the very tall Klingon. "And Lady." she commented.

K'doc certainly made her seem petite.

Edmund gave a nod towards Tremble. "And there he is."

Neil bowed slightly toward Jali and amended, "And lady." Giving Ed a sideways glance, he said, "And yes. Here I is. Did I miss an invasion?"

Edmund shook his head in the negative. "No invasion. Gotta make certain you got the chance to get with the fine security team of Poseidon Station. I'd like to introduce to you Commander K'doc Valadorn, and his Assistant Chief of Security Lieutenant Jali Andloch. Commander Valadorn as well as Lieutenant Andloch was here when the Breen attacked the station."

K'doc nodded to the newcomer. " I greet you sir. And I say with all honesty, that the only reason that this station survived this ordeal is because of the well trained and the fighting spirit of both the Marines and Security. Without them this station would have been destroyed or fallen into enemy hands. Both teams worked well together and defended the station with honor, we lost a total of one hundred thirty one people. That is from Security, Marines and Civilians. The Breen however lost eighteen of nineteen ships, their hidden asteroid base and they're pride. One small ship managed to escape, but it was heavily damaged. " K'doc pulled out a PaDD and tapped several buttons. " I have sent you the full report and and mop up details, along with the names of a dozen marines that I personally witnessed perform above and beyond the call of duty and did so with valor. "

Neil nodded, though he was slightly confused. "That's what the Corp does, Commander," he said by way of acknowledgement. "I saw the after-actions and screened the tactical overlays when I found out Pioneer was coming to the Sector. Part of my job...and part professional curiosity. Too bad the Cure couldn't have gotten in on the fun. As to the recognition, I'll check with the Brigadier's aid and make sure your recommendations are acknowledged. "

Glancing toward Ed, Neil said "Speaking of fun. Any trouble the Cure can help with while we're in-theater?"

K'doc handed Tremble the bag he was carrying with him. " these are some dog tags that my people found in the mop up after the battle and I wanted to give them to you personally. " Staed the large Klingon with a tone of respect. " And I am very aware of what the Corp does as well, I am currently on long term loan to Starfleet to pay an honor debt owed to a Starfleet officer who saved my father's life. Before I came here I was assigned to the 132nd ground assault group of the House Hurric Marines. So from one marine to another, You have my respect sir. "

Jali spoke up, "As for anything that needs to be mopped up, we are looking to see if they have actually completely left this area. That is going to be up to working with Intelligence and other avenues of information gathering. Maybe some of your people can help ferret that as well?" she went quiet gather her thoughts then stated. "What with all that has happened, we're working on making even more connections with all those on the station that will band together to continue to protect the station. And this seems to be a good way to make connections as well. She looked toward K'doc. "Commander Valadorn, perhaps this is a good time to approach the subject of attending the Marine Birthday Ball?"

" If it is permissible of course. " Stated K'doc. " That is unless it goes against your customs. I know that within the empire there are certain customs and events that no outsider would be able to witness unless they had proven themselves a friend and had honor of course. "

Edmund spoke up, "There were invitations that were sent out to everyone. It is permissable that you will be able to attend. I am sure your Assistant Chief, has gotten an invitation as well?"

"Yes I did recieve one and the same for you, Commander Valadorn." Jali turning her attention towards the Security Chief. "So the dress code well for those who are not Marine would be, a black tie affair? That sounds like it will be a bit of fun then."

"Once a year, "Neil said, "The Corp celebrates itself and it's personnel with the birthday ball. Pretty much anyone that wants to attend may, we just give a firm nod to our roots. It's heavy on ceremony as far as trappings go: full dress for the marines, band, catering, and the invitations.

He slid automatically into a rest posture and said, "The oldest and youngest marine present are acknowledged as a nod to the longevity and continuance of the corp. Likewise, there's a table to the fallen, fully set with chairs reserved for named dead and a single space unreserved to acknowledge any of us could be next. Behind that table is a scrolling list of fallen Marines that dates back to the Corps founding. Finally, the dance, food, and mingling of offers, enlisted and our friends signify we're a family and life is to be lived and enjoyed."

Chuckling, he said, "And it's a pain to set up. What I could really use from you all is space for this to be held."

Jali gave out a bit of a laugh, "That can be arranged very quickly, all I need to do is this." she pulling out her PaDD and sent a message to Commander Cara Letsul. She waited and then received a quick reply. She looked down at the message and gave a nod.

"Okay, sir, it it settled you should be receiving the details very soon. It is very nice having connections with the command staff." Jali remarked, and a flash of a smile.

Edmund gave a start as he got a ping from his padd, and the Neil's padd pinged as well. "It looks like she has people ready to get things set up. Captain Tracy-Hall is on the job as well. She is the XO of the Kingsmen."

A message from Captain Tracy-Hall is sent to Major Tremble, it read Major Tremble the room is available and is being set up. It awaits your inspection sir. Captain Tracy-Hall.

Neil grinned and then ghosted a wink towards Ed. "Not bad. Of course if they'd really wanted to impress the general, they'd have anticipated. It's the first part of adapting and overcoming all obstacles that Marines live by."

Jali's jaw dropped for a moment then she grinned.

Edmund gave a chuckle. "Well then, at least they are getting things prepared." he responded towards Neil. His gaze turned towards K'doc. "Commander, I am looking forward to seeing you at the ball and speaking of that, looks like we've got an inspection to do for the ball." giving a half smile. "Thank you for coming to meet with the Major."

K'doc spoke up. " I do however have one question. I am a marine, not a federation marine, but still a marine. Would I be permitted to wear my Klingon uniform with the black sash honoring the dead or the black tie outfit that you've mentioned. I'm not really sure what a black tie outfit would look like, but I could look it up. "

"Wear your Klingon uniform by all means, Commander. This is a military Celebration and our allies are very welcome," Neil said. "In fact, I believe your invitation requests you be part of the General's receiving line." Neil made something of a face and then smiled ruefully. "Not my idea of fun, greeting the couple of hundred people we invited, but it's the way things are done. Or so I've been told."

"Well that certainly answers the questions we have." Jali responded with a chuckle. "We will be there, in our finest, and am looking forward to attending." the assistant chief ofl security nodded. She looked at K'doc. "Well sir shall we get going?"

Edmund reached out to shake Jali's hand. "Thanks for coming to this meeting."

Jali shook Ed's hand with a firm grip. "You are welcome."

Neil glanced around the room and stood, stretching and said. "Nice to meet you Commander. Lieutenant." His HUD flashed with notice of another meeting and he bit off a sigh. "No rest for the wicked, I'm afraid duty calls. We'll all have to get a drink or five at the ball. Ed, do me a favor and make sure word gets out that the ball isn't that scary of a concept? The General wants everyone to feel welcome."

K'doc nodded. " Part of the receiving line to meet the general? It would be an honor to greet the general. We shall be there at the appointed time. " K'doc reached out to shake hands before leaving. " I look forward to the marines and security working together in the future. " He stated before turning towards the door.

Ed watched as the Chief of security and the assistant chief of security left the room. He turned to Neil. "Well looks like we're done here for the time being." he said with a grin.
