Episode 10 - New Home, Same Pioneers
Location: Outside The Officer's Mess Hall - Deck 2 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD002 1130 hrs
With the ceremony over, Paul and Lyna left the mess hall, after paying their final respects.
They walked down the corridor, holding hands. Paul looked at her. "That was a nice service."
"With what little I know of human customs, I don't know if I should agree." Was Lyna's response. "A person died, and all people could do is to say things."
Paul smiled. "That's what we do. We say things about those we lost, it's suppose to make us feel better."
"Do you feel better?" Lyna asked.
"No. I did know Dana a little. She was friends with someone I was seeing. She felt that I treated that person badly, so she let me know about it. Anyway, let's change the subject. You haven't said anything about the ring."
Lyna looked at the ring. "It's very nice. Thank you for giving it to me." She leaned over and gave him a peek on the cheek.
"'It's very nice.' Is that all you have to say?" Paul looked at her. "Oh my god...you don't know!"
"Know what?" By now she was getting angry.
Paul laughed. "Humans have a custom, that when a man buys an engagement ring, it means he's asking her to marry him."
Lyna looked at him, then the ring. "Engagement ring?" Then she started thinking. "You're asking me to marry you??"
Paul got on one knee. "Auba Lyna. Will you marry me?"
She let out a scream, dropped to her knees. "YES!!" And kissed him.
