Mission: Episode 6 - Old Habits Die Hard
Location: Bridge Deck 1
Timeline: MD004 1600 hrs

Larim was now semi mobile, Semi meaning using debris as a crutch and hurting like Hades. Ordinarily hed just keep his butt sat down and wait for a medic. But he was hungry. That trumped all. So he headed for a replicator, hoping against hope it worked. To his delight it did.

"One chocolate mifffin please. And two percent milk." the food materialized. He grabbed it just when his knee decided that "I'm not gonna work anymore". Muffling a scream Larim plopped down new the MSD.

Tyler had been walking around the bridge. He was taking stock of the shambles that were around him. Nothing was in order, but the ship was intact and they were alive. That was enough, or at least that is what the Captain told himself. As he walked around past the Tactical station, he noticed Myles getting a snack. At least some things are getting back to normal. Tyler thought with a smile. Then he watched as Myles crumpled to the floor and the reality of the situation shot back into Tyler's brain. He reached out to help Larim back to his feet. "Lemme help you with that. You should be sitting in your seat. After all you are the XO for now." The news of Dr Ballston's serious injury had just reached the bridge a moment ago.

Nodding Larim eagerly took the help. "Seated does sound better." He chuckled. Wincing as Tyler helped him to his feet. "Thanks, Captain." He said as he was led to the XOs seat taking the seat with an "ahhh"

Tyler looked at the Tactical Chief and stroked the stubble on his face. "So tell me what is your take on all that has happened here. I know there is a lot to absorb, but the New Maquis and the Obsidian Order working together. We need to get a jump on the right now." Tyler knew that they needed repairs, to lick their wounds as it were. However, he needed opinions and he respected the thoughts of his officers.

"It'd take one heck of a common goal for the new Maquis and the Obsidian order to join forces. That's definitely big, seeing the old Maquis "Cardassians are bad" Larim began. He massaged his temples. "So..what? and how did they get a Defiant? Somebody's gotta be helping them."

"The official record on that is that the Fearless was lost with all hands. There has always been a rumor that she was captured by the Maquis and her crew put to death. In fact sightings at various New Maquis raids had occurred. However, Starfleet thought it necessary to classify those sightings. That is until now... It seems that Captain Hood, and the crew over at Empok Nor reeled in a fish. Lieutenant Ingrid Hollister, her last posting was as Flight Control officer aboard the Fearless. So I am sure she will have a lot to say, and we will learn a lot more when we get back to the station. But you are right there has to be some sort of common ground between the New Maquis and the Order." Tyler sat in the center chair and smiled as he spoke to Myles. The coffee was warming his soul.

Larim smiled too as he took a bite of muffin. "Mmm that's good." He said. He nodded. "Oh, I agree sir." Larim replied. "So..what could bring them together like that?"

"That is exactly what I was hoping you could tell me. It is the largest conundrum right now, and is confounding most people. Got any suggestions based upon what we know." Tyler replied.

"All I have is a name. A Commander Quaid on Empok. Who is associated with a half Bajoran half Cardassian. It's a lead at least." Myles began. "That could be how the Fearless fell into their hands. And how they had us overpowered."

This must be the person that Masters was talking about. Tyler leaned in almost conspiratorially. "Larim accusing a fellow officer is a big thing. How did you learn about this?"

"Masters brought me in on an interrogation she had. The person's name was Xoca, Xoica. Something like that. Anyway. The name came up. I haven't had a chance to do much digging though." Larim replied.

"For the time being any digging that you do, make it cursory. Do not go too deep, and do not contact directly. We are trying to play this one very close to the vest. Start with his service record. Did this Xoica give you any other pertinent information?" Tyler leaned over on his Captain's chair as he spoke. That was one of the amenities of the Intrepid Class bridge for Tyler. It allowed for a small amount of privacy for the Captain, and XO.

"The story I get is this. This Xoica character was selling weapons to her client. The Bajoran Cardassian I mentioned. She was bragging about having "brainwashed" Commander Quaid. How, I don't know." Larim began.

"I see let's proceed with caution and coordinate with Ms Masters. Start with bottom rung that is my opinion. Let's see if we can get Mr Quaid in for a physical. Perhaps that will reveal what was used to brainwash him." Tyler responded.

"I agree. Once we get back to Empok, well form ourselves a little plan." Larim said.

Tyler smiled "Sounds good but first you make sure that wife of yours knows that you are okay. If you didn't she would have my hide. As would my own wife." He chuckled as he sipped his coffee. A slight wince came with the chuckle. Tyler's muscles ached from being tossed around during the battle

Larim chuckled. "I heard that. I'll drop her a line as soon as I can." He smiled, wincing himself due to his knee .
