Mission: Episode 4 - The Sum of Our Parts
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: MD001 1100 hrs

Was it Poison? Wondered Elloma, she hoped it was. She wanted to find the cause of the homicide of Crewman Howard Goldberg. She walked into the sickbay, the mood was silent. Elloma walked in with Jennifer, her eyes immediately looked for Hermia O'Rouke the Doctor conducting the autopsy. "Doctor O'Rouke." Called out Elloma in a loud voice.

Looking up from her work, Hermia greeted the two newcomers, "Ensign, Petty Officer, if you for the cause of death, I'm afraid I can only give you my preliminary results at the moment." She said.

"Anything you have right now, will help our investigation, Doctor." Said Elloma, as she waited for the preliminary report from Hermia.

Elloma needed to confirm poison, so she could follow up on the lead. While she waited for the doctor to reply she looked over at her data pad. She was thinking to herself, that she had her security team, creating a list of all patrons at the lounge last night." Said Elloma, trying to figure out her next move, after getting autopsy preliminary report.

Hermia handed Elloma a PADD. "So far I haven't discovered any external signs of trauma. There was a sedative in his blood stream, but the dose wasn't high enough to cause death. I'll know more after the internal exam."

"How long will that take, Ma'am?" Asked Elloma, as she debated about heading back to her security office.

"Two hours at the most, that will give me time to process the results as well." Hermia said.

"Have you analyzed the sedative yet?" Asked Elloma, hoping to follow up on that lead. Finding out the sedative, could hopefully generate a lead she could follow.

"Yes, it was Kayolane, a sedative that can induce unconsciousness for several hours." Hermia replied. "It can be replicated, but only by those with the authority to prescribe it."

Jenn was standing a bit behind listening to the two woman talking. She looked on the padd that Essu handed her earlier and later to the padd that Essu got from the doctor. She made notes as to not to miss anything. That the sedative could only have been given off by someone with the authority to prescribe it, was an important lead. Hopefully one Essu was looking for. Of course it didn't have to mean it would lead them to the killer, but it was a step closer. She waited for Essu to ask the question to further this investigation.

"Doctor, besides yourself, who else on the Pioneer can prescribe this sedative?" Asked Elloma, as she wondered if she could ask the medical staff on the station, who had access. The murder took place on the USS Pioneer, she wanted to make sure, no one on the Pioneer, committed this crime.

"Other than myself, Doctor Ballston, Lieutenant Zano and a couple of nurse practitioners." Hermia replied.

"Can you check the logs, see if anyone has replicated the sedative recently?" Asked Elloma, as she looked to Hermia.

"Yes." Hermia said and accessed a nearby terminal. After a few minutes she returned to Elloma. "It appears that the logs have been erased." She told her puzzlement evident on her face.

"Your up Petty Officer Master." Said Elloma, knowing that Jennifer had some mad skills, at recovering files and being a security investigations specialist. Elloma wanted those files. Elloma walked closer to the terminal where Hermia was standing. She waited for Jennifer to work her magic.

Jenn walked over to the terminal and cracked her fingers. "Here we go." He fingers danced over the terminal. "Well, this person isn't that stupid, erased the backup logs as well, but what they don't know is that intell makes backups off all the backups of all backups made. And they can only be erased by an intelligence officer or one with command level clearance. Here you go, sirs!" She stepped away from the terminal.

Elloma looked over the shoulder of the Hermia the doctor who had earlier conducted the autopsy, was now shifting through the data. Elloma eagerly anticipated the results on who had subscribe the sedative. This would not prove who murdered the crewman, but it would give them a promising lead to follow up on.

Jenn crossed her arms and then said, "You know, just because you are my superior officer doesn't mean I have to like you letting me wait." She said a bit inpatient, tapping her foot on the floor.

"Give her a moment, to look through the recovered files. Thanks for that Miss Masters." Said Elloma, giving a verbal hint to Hermia, that they where waiting on the information. They had a few leads to follow up on.

Hermia looked through the files. "The sedative was prescribed to Chloe De La Vega by Dr. Ballston." She told them.

"Chloe was attacked, maybe the unsub attacked her to get to the sedative." Said Elloma, working on a theory that Chloe was not involved. She looked to Jennifer. "Thoughts Miss Masters?" Asked Elloma.

Jenn nodded, "It is a plausible theory, Ensign. They were prescribed by Dr. Ballston. I am just thinking out loud here. Our unsub might have known Chloe would get this prescription. Not saying our good doctor is the unsub. But who would have access to the medical records? Aside from our doctors of course. Or the the unsub was present when the doctor gave out this prescription. We all know sickbay isn't private." She looked to the presented evidence.

"It's worth a look?" Questionably Elloma asked herself. She then reviewed the footage of the last few times, Chloe came in to pick up her medication. The last time, was back when the USS Pioneer was docked at Empok Nor. "Petty Officer Dilago, might be a lead to follow up on, Miss Masters do you see this too?" Asked Elloma, as she pointed to the unusual long starring that Dilago, was giving Chloe, and shortly after she left, Dilago left right behind her.

"Ensign, I think I may have found the 'murder weapon'. I found by products of Ferazine metabolism in the kidneys. Ferazine is a mild muscle relaxant, but when taken with Kayolane, it causes asphyxiation, buy paralyzing the lungs. No doctor would prescribe them together." Hermia said.

"Thank you Doctor." Said Elloma as she then looked to Jennifer, "I think we need to reach out to station security and have Petty Officer Dilagom, interviewed. It is a little strange, he would seek treatment on our ship, when he is assigned to the station." Said Elloma, wondering why he was eye balling Chloe and on her ship, in the first place. He could have been treated on the station.

Jenn nodded, "Yes, sir, I assume you will contact the station. Just let me know when the interview takes place and where. I will be there."
