Mission: Episode 15 - The Evil That Lies Beneath
Location: After 11 - Deck 11 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD002 1800 hrs

It was a hard day of work. Emiko found no threats to the Federation today, which she supposed was a good thing. Of course, exposing a threat could be very exciting and get her some well-deserved recognition. It was an odd paradox that someone in her position would only get recognized if they found exactly what the Federation did not want. On the other hand, she supposed that starting to learn some Romulan was not a bad thing. How many languages would that make that she knew, once she mastered it? She lost count.

Tonight, she felt like just getting lost, so she forewent any sort of exercise and headed to After 11. She replicated for herself some curried chicken and some umeshu. The only thing that Emiko regretted was that the umeshu was made of synthahol. Tonight might be a fun night to just get drunk and get a little wild. After all, being locked up on a starship, barring the holodeck or gym, activities could get a little stale.

Lithe and girl-like, she got an odd look here or there, but she never considered why. She merely found a window seat that was miraculously free and looked outward, just wondering about the future.

A group of three men came walking into After 11, all three having a bit of a laugh. One of them was a tall blonde with broad shoulders and an easy smile, this was Edmund Merrick, the other one was Riley Ames, with reddish hair and blue eyes, the other was named Jacob Adams dark hair and brown eyes.

"Seriously Ed, that program you put us through was intense. What was it you had called it? LARP, Live Action Roleplaying? You actually use this to do some training?" Jacob exclaimed.

"Yes, I do also, sometimes it is easier to visualize what I meant when it came to DnD. And have some sort of props," Edmund replied.

The three men sat down not too far from where Emiko sat, their conversation could be heard.

"And just think you were only there as first level characters. Just wait until you get to an upper level," Edmund replied.

Dungeons and Dragons? Emiko wondered. Live Action Role Playing? Hm. It is not quite cosplay, but definitely sounds like a good time, getting dressed up and strutting my stuff. She continued to eat quietly, but turned her bodily slightly towards the men, her neck craning slightly towards them as she continued to eat. Her tongue traced her lips for a brief moment before slowly putting another bite of curry in her mouth. She let her fork linger for a moment too long in her mouth before putting it down and taking a sip of her umeshu.

A server came over and got the men's food orders then went her way once more.

"What will you be having us face off with once more?" Riley asked with a grin.

"You will see, once we get back to the scenario. For now though, you two will have to wait until tomorrow," Edmund said with a laugh.

Jacob responded with a smirk. "Dang it, I wanted to get a hint about what you've got planned. So Ed are you going to be seeing if there is anyone else wanting to join in the fun?"

Edmund settled back in his chair and thought for a moment. "Possibly? It all depends on people's schedule, right?"

Emiko dared a glance in Edmund's direction, trying to get a view of him. Hm. Easy on the eyes. Nice smile. Maybe a bit old, but could be a good time. She then looked at the other guys in turn before realizing that she might be taking too long scoping them out and turning her attention back to her meal.

As if feeling her gaze upon him Merrick turned around and gave Emiko a smile of greeting. "Hi there, I'm Edmund Merrick and these two are Jacob and this one's Riley. How is it going?" He immediately engaged her in conversation.

"Say do you want to come join us? There's room for one more." Jacob giving an inviting smile.

"Room for one more?" Emiko asked, raising her eyebrows. "Three men and one woman with a statement like that has some serious innuendos."

Jacob cocked his head to one side. "It wasn't meant to be an innuendo, Ensign??" the other man, Riley chuckled.

"It is whatever a person can make of it." Riley stated.

"Come have lunch with us." Edmund also requested. "Or do you want to look out at the stars as contemplate life?"

"I'm a Petty Officer, 3rd Class," Emiko corrected Jacob with a mischievous smile. "I actually have to know practical things," she continued to quip. She then turned to Riley and asked, "What do you make of it, then?"

Emiko giggled and then turned to Edmund and said, "Dinner for me, but I suppose the view is good in both places. And since you did not follow up on the name, I will tell you that I am Emiko Marley."

"I was just waiting for you to say your name as I have no clue as to what it would be." Edmund laughed. "I'm the Marine Executive Officer and these two are, ensigns. Still friends though." he glanced at both Jacob and Riley.

"Well... glad we are still friends." Riley quipped to Merrick.

Edmund then turned to Emiko. "I would rather keep my thoughts more gentlemanly, so just was inviting a person to a table to not eat alone. We are a sociable bunch of men."

Marine XO? Now, isn't that interesting. No ring. That's a good sign. "Are you saying that I can't handle myself?" she asked with a smirk.

"That's not what I am getting at, it's the way I am keeping my mind above reproach," Edmund responded. "So.... care to join us at the table?" he asked, raising both eyebrows as he reiterated the invitation once more.

"Yes, the Captain here has very firm standards where ladies are concerned," Jacob added.

For Edmund’s answer, Emily picked up her food and drink and put them at the table. She then dragged her chair over, placing it next to Edmund and Riley. With an impish grin, she told Edmund, “I thought you would never ask.”

She then looked at Jacob, thinking Suck up. Emiko then turned to Jacob and asked snickering, “What do I care about the Captain’s preferences for women?”

"He's...." Jacob just looked at Emiko, she is quite the... he was having a difficult time in putting together how he could describe her.

"He was referring to how I treat the ladies as in, respectful. It is something I prefer people do, that is treating each other with respect," Edmund replied for Jacob.

"I should hope that you treat everyone with respect," Emiko responded with a satisfied smirk. "I could not imagine anyone doing otherwise, could you?" She then abruptly changed the subject, "So tell me all about this LARPing that you were talking about? Do you go all out and dress up?"

"When we do the scenarios, we do dress up as our characters. It is fun," Jacob replied.

Riley gave a bit of a grin. "And that even includes if a person is a bard, they end up singing."

"Are you interested in something like that?" Edmund queried.

"I don't think it would take a lot of convincing," Emiko replied, blinking several times in Edmund's direction.

"Then we'll have to work out a character for you and go from there, this includes gear and outfit. Edmund replied.

Riley looked Emiko over, "I'd say, she'd do well as a rogue. What do you think?"

Jacob gave a good glance over Emiko, "That or a magic user."

Edmund mused upon the suggestions then just said. "It will be Emiko's choice, and depends on the skills she has currently. Her personal skills." he then asked her directly. "What say you, what sort of skills do you have?"

In an apparent non-sequitur, Emiko asked, "What languages do you all speak?"

Jacob responded, "I speak Italian, French, Spanish, and Japanese with a little bit of Klingon."

Riley shook his head. "I speak Gaelic and English, that is about it, sprinkled with some Klingon."

"For me, I speak French, Klingon, Federation trade speak and Orion" Edmund replied.

Not the best languages left for me to have fun, but we will work with what we have. Nobody said German, Hebrew, Andorian, or Ferengi. She looked directly at Edmund and told him, "אני מעדיף שתראה את כל הכישורים שלי אחרי ארוחת ערב רומנטית במגורים שלך." Emiko then shrugged, smiled, and said, "See, I speak many languages. I'm in the intelligence department. How does that translate for you?"

"Hebrew, interesting are you familiar with Kabbalah," Edmund queried. He looked at the others and said, "She may well be a mage for all we know in the game." He redirected his attention back to Emiko. "Still with you being in intelligence, you would definitely make for a rogue character, one who gathers information. And a question for you, what did you say exactly, Emiko?" For all he knew she could have been cussing him out and looking sweetly at him while she did so.

Emiko smiled and winked at Edmund, then lied sweetly, "I merely said that I was looking forward to playing this game." She then thought for a moment, "Is there a reason that I could not be both a mage and a rogue? I could enchant you all with my tongue and sneak about to get more information."

Jacob was looking at Emiko, not saying a word, Riely took a look at him and he nudged Jacob.

Jacob uttered "Wha? Hunh?"

Riley laughed, and remarked. "Well It looks like you've already done that to Jacob" he turned to Edmund. "What do you think? A rogue mage?"

Edmund laughed. "Emiko, it looks like you will be playing the part of a rogue and a mage. Congratulations. And welcome to the party."

"המסיבה עדיין לא התחילה. אבל אני אחכה לזה," she replied with a dreamy grin. "So, what do I do?"

"Well, just need to figure out the sort of outfit you will be wearing for your character then come up with the skills. This sort of process." Edmund said.

Right then the food of the men arrived all having had ordered a pizza, and they dug in, and drank from the cups they had ordered of root beer, plus a pitcher of root beer was also added.

"An outfit?" I can think of an outfit that I would like to wear for you. "I assume that I would wear something that was tight and form fitting so I could get through, tight spots." There was something about the way that Emiko said 'tight spots,' that would have made an ice cube melt.

"Snug fit yes, but not too tight to where you can't move." Was Edmund being oblivious to Emiko's responses? He was concentrating on not losing that long piece of melted cheese coming from the slice of pizza he had picked up.

"Well then, I'll have to squirm, won't I?" Emiko grinned before taking a long drink of her umeshu.

Merrick, after having wrapped the string of cheese around his finger, took a look at Emiko. "So, squirming is good when getting into tight places, when we get you outfitted for the scenario, you will see what will be available." He gave a nod then popped the cheese into his mouth. "It won't be all leather," he added.

A bit uncouth there, eating with his fingers like that. We can fix him, though. When she heard that it won't all be leather, she raised her eyebrows inquisitively and interested. "No?" she simply asked, her right side of her lips curling upward.

"Do you do some sort of exercise such as aerobics? That sort of thing? If so, the style of clothing will have flexibility to enable to you move to keep from getting hit if you get into a fight of some sort," Edmund commented.

For the moment Jacob as well as Riley were concentrating on eating and also listening to the conversation between Emiko and Edmund.

"I think that you will find that I'm very flexible," Emiko responded with a satisfied smirk. "But yes, I like working out," she continued with a satisfied tone.

"Then even more so, you being the dual class, Rogue and Mage. I think that is going to be most helpful in the roleplaying," Edmund responded, then took a bite of his pizza. "This is really good." he remarked before eating another bite.

How clueless is he? Emiko thought, slightly frustrated. She then started to eat more of her food, thinking exactly how she should proceed. After she chewed it and swallowed, she asked, "You will have to explain this all to me."

"Sure, that sounds like a plan, we will have to make a time for that to happen. As it is, after this pizza is consumed, I've got some paperwork to do." Edmund replied.

Jacob remarked, "I can help you out with the explanation." He gave a hopeful smile towards Emiko.

If Emiko noticed Jacob's smile or offer of assistance, she failed to acknowledge it. "Well," she told Edmund breathlessly, "let me know when you can fit me in." Emiko smiled roguishly. "If I'm not on duty, I'll make time for you."

Jacob went back to eating his pizza, and quietly sipped his root beer.

"I'll send you a time then, Emiko," Edmund replied nodding. He rose from his seat, "Sorry, I've got to run. Jacob, Riley keep her company, okay?"

Both men gave a nod almost in unison.

"Sounds good, Captain, will do." Jacob replied.

Emiko let her gaze follow Edmund, long after he left. Once he was gone, she thoughtfully went back to eating her curry chicken and sipping her umeshu.

"So Emiko, what do you like to do on your personal time?" Jacob trying to start a conversation with the really cute petty officer.

Riley on the other hand was just observing as well as enjoying the pizza.

So lost in her thoughts, Emiko barely caught words that indicated that Jacob was trying to get her attention. "Hm?" Emiko asked trying to get her brain to get out of the gutter and to a point that it was at least slightly cordial with Jacob. "Um, personal time? What's that?"

"Well, do you have any hobbies you like to do when you can find the time?" Jacob giving a smile. "I like to do painting and I play the piano. What about you? Do you do anything like that?"

Riley was now really watching this interplay. He could tell that Emiko was very taken by Edmund, and Jacob was crushing on Emiko. He hoped this wasn't going to turn into a sort of love triangle. Would it even be considered a love triangle? He silently mused a sigh at his thoughts.

Emiko blinked once at Jacob, who seemed to her to be the most awkward man alive. Hoping that the conversation would die, she simply answered, "No."

Riley frowned slightly towards Emiko, his eyes narrowing then looked at his friend. "Hey Jacob, I think it's time to get going let's grab the rest of the pizza and head out, okay?"

"But Ed said to keep her company." Jacob spluttered. He didn't want to leave Emiko just yet.

"She doesn't want either of our company, so let's head out," Riley stated firmly. "Besides you'll see her when we do the next part of the game."

Jacob brightened up when he heard this, grabbed the remainder of the food and then said. "It was really nice meeting you."

Emiko gave them a halfhearted wave. "It definitely was nice being met." She took another forkful of curry chewed it and swallowed. "I am certain we will see each other soon."

The two men left, Riley glancing back toward Emiko and just shaking his head. While Jacob seemed to be talking rather animatedly to him. They disappeared from Emiko's sight.

Emiko watched the twosome go, debating how she was going to make certain that Edmund was not so oblivious to her charms next time. Perhaps he would have a private tutoring session regarding D&D with her. Then, she thought smiling.... Then, I can tutor him.
