Last Time On FMC Birthday Ball Part I

K'doc nodded his acknowledgement. " Thank you General. I have also heard of your reputation as well, of being an excellent commander and tactician and fighting with valor and honor. You have many other guest to greet, so we won't delay you any further. " With that said he turned and went to mingle with others in the crowd.

Ben smoothed down the front of his dress uniform and took a deep breath. He knew the invitation was by request only, not mandatory, but he felt he needed to put his best foot forward on the station. Glancing into the ball room, he could see there were lots of people and he felt relieved. Once he made his way through the greeting line, he could just blend in and go unnoticed for most of the night.

And Now The Conclusion...

K'doc noticed the table near the entrance and went to the table of the fallen. From a pouch he removed a metal shot glass and a bottle of bloodwine. He poured himself a shot and placed the remainder of the bottle in the center of the table, He raised his glass and spoke in klingon.

Translation: " To my brothers one and all, I salute your deeds and leave you a drink to honor you with. Your honor and glory shall never fade, For you all lived and died as Marines one and all. " With that he drank his shot and turned to rejoin Khylara and disappeared into the crowd.

Cara held onto Lachlan's arm, gazing at those that were gathered. It was an impressive sight.

The dress that Cara wore is a V-Neck Floor length Chiffon Lace evening dress. The dark green skirt of the dress had a slit up the left thigh, which enabled the wearer to move freely. The color looked well with Cara's coloration and she felt that it was appropriately colored due to this being a marine birthday ball. She looked up at Lachlan, feeling proud to be at his side for this event.

She noticed that K'doc was there along with his lady, Khylara. The two of them looking very distinguished. She gave them a nod in greeting. She also noticed the arrival of Brina, upon the arm of Nicholas. Once again Brina had opted wearing civilian dress for this event as well. She and Nicholas made a handsome couple, Brina wearing a sleeveless red dress which plunged in a vee neckline, and gently hugged her curves, then gracefully went outwards from the hips. Brina looked rather good in that dress, with her hair swept up into another fetching soft chignon.

Cara gave a small wave towards Brina and Nicholas. Brina nodded and gave a return smile towards Cara. Nicholas gave a quick wink towards Cara and had a raised eyebrow as well, slightly tilting his head having a playful smile there. Cara blushed slightly, once again she was feeling that she's going to be having a conversation with Nicholas sometime in the near future.

"Time to give our respects to those here as well as the table of honor?" She remarked softly.

"I find these events awkward." Lachlan admitted as they moved forward. "Only benefit is seeing you in that dress and me trying so hard not to drag you into a closet and rip it off you." he flashed his eyes at her. "You are more used to dealing with those of rank and file, I just deal with Major Tremble and he's a pretty decent guy having come from enlisted himself."

A bit of a smile at Lachlan's words, and a light laugh. "I am used to these functions so to speak, and as for your desire we can leave the ball soon enough to a more comfortable place. I would like to do some dancing before we do? And do a little bit of socializing, rubbing elbows. I am glad I am not in charge of this, but so far this has turned out rather well."

"All pomp and circumstance, but I do understand why they're doing it. Good for morale, good for the corps." Lachlan replied as he looked around the room at all the other marines and their respective partners and dates to the ball. "As for dancing and rubbing elbows." Lachlan smiled. "Can't imagine a woman I'd love to do that more with than you Cara. Let's go!"

With a laugh of sheer delight, Cara gave a nod. "yes let’s go then onto the rest of the evening."

Alyssa and Ellery came in together as neither of them had a date for the evening. They'd developed a friendship after meeting and talking about history and archaeology and decided that this way they'd at least have someone to talk to over dinner.

Alyssa chose a strapless burgundy dress for the occasion and hoped to leave shortly after the dancing began. It wasn't that she didn't like to dance, it was more than most everyone had paired up for the occasion and she didn't know anyone well enough to ask them to dance.

Ellery, being new to the station, knew very few people outside of science. But as this was a special occasion and she'd been invited, she felt she should be here. She wore a formal gown with long sleeves in a dark rose color. She hoped this would give her a chance to pick out some of the leadership of Poseidon Station.

The two women stopped to greet those in the receiving line.

"Get your hand off my arse, or you'll be walking with a limp, sir." Mercy said to 1st Lieutenant O'Rourke. She wore a pale blue figure hugging dress.

"Understood, Warrant." Edward said moving his hand back to his side.

Azure entered to Ball Room with her arm around Marisol. The Corpsman was dressed in a Mauve coloured dress that left very little to the imagination, while her partner wore a more conservative, yet still beautiful off-white dress.

"Is it wrong that I want to tear off your clothes and make love to you right here?" Azure whispered in Marisol's ear.

"As always, I'm honour how much you love me, and I too love you, but I'm not sure that's the entertainment everyone expecting." Marisol replied.

"Quite right, My Love, I'd rather have you all to myself." Azure said. "We'll postpone your ravaging until we're alone in my quarters."

"May I say Corporal, you look beautiful tonight." Rarrior said.

"Thank you, Corporal." Sina said. "And you look very handsome in your dress uniform."

The Orion blushed a little, said. "Thank you." And headed to the table of the fallen.

Sergeant Raylan Ch'Tol entered the Ball Room alone. She wore a green dress that was in the Romulan style, and around her waist she wore her father's honour blade.

Once the receiving line had started to wind down, Major Tremble approached the table for the fallen and removed his boat cloak and piled it in the center of the table. He un-frogged his saber and layed it across the cloak and finally removed his visored hat and sat it over the sheathed blade. Finally removing his gloves, which he tucked into his belt he turned on his heel and activated his comm. "Welcome you all on behalf of the Federation of Planets Marine Birthday Ball. Please enjoy yourselves."

And with that, Tremble's duties for the day were mostly complete. Making his way over to Jayna, he said. "Ok. Officially the Fallen are now supposed to be On Guard. Hungry?"

"Yes." She slipped her arm through his. "And I'm looking forward to that dance later." Neil had done a great job with the ball, but now she was ready to help him unwind a bit.

"Me too," Tremble said. "Many drinks and dancing. Shore leave can actually get rolling now." He gave her a pointed look from head to crown and leered, "Have I told you lately how much I like you in that dress."

"Only once." She picked the dress especially to please him and was glad that he liked it. She leaned closer to add, sotto voce, "And you can tell me again later when you help me out of it." She rarely flirted in public--but she felt more at ease when she was around Neil.

Merrick finally arrived, wearing his dress uniform, pausing at the table of respect and bowing his head before moving on, and walking along the line of greeting. He noticed Alyssa who was next to another woman, and walked up to the two ladies. "Evening ladies, hope you are doing well." he paused then said to Ellery Rosa, "Hello, I'm Captain Merrick, XO of the Marines of the Pioneer, I am glad to see both of you at this event." that sounded slightly awkward. "Um, Alyssa knows who I am." Edmund giving a wee chuckle.

"Hi. We're doing well," Alyssa replied with a smile. "How are you?"

"Hi," Ellery said, also smiling at the Marine. "Nice to meet you. I'm Ellery Rosa, the new assistant chief science officer on Poseidon Station." She didn't know many people here and was grateful Edmund had stopped to say hi.

"I am doing quite well, would you two ladies allow me to be your escort? I would be quite honored if you would do so." Edmund giving a courtly bow. "Besides, I would love to do a little bit of dancing and can't very well do that by myself. Well I could do that but it would look slightly awkward?" giving a chuckle.

"Sure," Alyssa said. "Neither of us wanted to come alone, and I would appreciate having someone to dance with." She smiled and added, "At least part of the time. I'm sure you'll want to find other partners as well."

"I would be delighted," Ellery said. "Thank you."

Edmund smiled. "If you don't mind, I'll stick with you two lovely ladies for the evening." the marine XO offered. He wouldn't mind keeping company with them, and they seemed to be good dining partners as well.

"Not at all." Ellery smiled. In truth, she was happy to have someone else to talk to. It wasn't that she didn't like Alyssa, but the two of them would end up talking shop and no one would ask them to dance, so this was perfect.

"Wonderful, lets find a table and then we will go dance.

Jali took a deep breath, taking another look at her outfit. She was rather happy that she chose the color of her dress for the Marine birthday ball. Her outfit complimented Thorrin's outfit, hers being a black metallic formal dress, the metal having been woven into the fabric. It was a simple yet elegant style, the bottom of the dress reaching to the floor and it having a slit on the left which stopped at the upper thigh. The neckline was a vee shaped with a moderate plunge of the neckline. The back was a lower Vee which ended at the waist. Her hair was brushed to a silken sheen and she wore a comfortable pair of low heels.

" You look wonderful, thank you again for being my date here tonight." Jali said softly to Thorrin.

After the required number of greetings and introductions, Neil leaned in towards Adira, his voice a soft murmur. "I believe our obligatory presence has been duly noted," he said with a smile. "The children have a sitter for the evening; Tess is happily nestled in with her grandparents..." He gestured discreetly towards the door. "How about a quiet night, just the two of us? I'm fairly certain we won't be missed."

Neil's gaze swept over their carefully chosen attire, a hint of mischief in his eyes. "You look absolutely stunning, Adira," he remarked, his voice filled with admiration. "And I must say, my own suit hasn't seen this much action in a while. It would be a shame to let these outfits go to waste in just a few hours, don't you think?" He chuckled, a twinkle in his eye as if daring her to resist the allure of an extended evening alone.

Adiras cheeks were starting to hurt from all the smiles and friendly nods. While they were genuine, being around this many people at once was making her twitches feel less controlled. The idea of escaping and spending a night alone with Neil sounded like heaven. She looked up at him and batted her lashes, "oh... I don't think the night will be that quiet." She said before she smirked at him, as the two slipped out the side exit.

Things wound down and the last of those who had attended the ball had left, the crew which had set up the ballroom for the celebration came in and began the clean up. It had been a success, memories made, and people remembered. The lead of the set up crew took one last look at the set up, the memorials of those who had fallen carefully placed inside boxes. A quick pour of a drink, a silent salute to those who had gone. Then the tossing back of the drink the last drop disappearing, a tear wiped away that had trickled down the cheek. The lead then turned to the rest of the crew. "Well done crew, well done." a smile appeared.
