Mission: Episode 14 - The Poseidon Adventure
Location: Chief of the Boat's Office - Deck 6 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD014 0900 hrs

Corporal Th'rerheq stood in front of the chief of the boat's office, bag still in hand. He sighed., Ready to press the door time but at the same time a little apprehensive. He heard good things about the marine unit on the USS Pioneer., And frankly he was honored to be a part of it. But it wasn't official until he pressed the chime, so he mustered up his courage and pushed it

Sometimes being COB was not all it was cracked up to be. Being the link between officers and NCO's when in the marines was difficult enough, but now that it was for a whole ship of both naval and marine it was proving to be quite a challenge. Plus his office was small, and he hated small spaces.

"Come in." Lachlan bellowed as the doors opened to reveal a blue horizon.

Son did so, coming to attention at the center of the COBs desk. "Corporal Son Th'rerheq reporting back from temporary assignment." the Andorian said.

"At ease Corporal." Lachlan said as he stood and extended his hand. A Human custom sure, but you always felt the measure of a man by the quality of his handshake.

Son eagerly shook the COB's hand.

After the handshake Lachlan gestured for the man to sit. "What was your temporary assignment, Corporal?" he asked. "I read it briefly, but it is always best to hear from the horses mouth so to speak."

"Major Winters needed a squad to guard a new shuttle they were working on they tell me. So I was corporal of the guard and oversaw alpha shifts rotation." Son said. "Looked like a standard shuttle to me, but I didn't pry. Found it best to stay out of the brass' way."

"Quite right. We don't always need to know what's going on." Lachlan nodded. "Sometimes its easier to focus on your duties than worry about the minutiae of the task. Let those with bars and leaves figure that out." He studied the man some more, watched as the antennae on his head twitched ever so slightly.

"Any special skills, traits that make you stand out from the crowd?" Lachlan asked.

"I like to think I'm on the creative side. Sor to thinking "How can we do this a little better." Son began. "Fair hand and hand to hand. Trained as a rifleman."

Lachlan nodded. It was pretty much par the course for a marine. However, the rifleman was a skill that could be put to good use, and given that was his role on the squad Lachlan hoped he'd be a fairly decent shot.

As far as a marine in general he was a typical looking, fit enough, had that steel resolve look in his eye. Although that may be his Andorian genes, they always were a hardy people.

"Tell me Corporal, your best moment in the marines so far?" Lachlan asked.

"Had to be graduation." Son began. "I can't put my finger on why, I just remember it fondly. Young PFC ready to take on whatever"

Lachlan nodded. Graduation was a time where, if you made it, a sense of euphoria would wash over you. You'd made it, you'd survived. Basic can be gruelling for the uninitiated and sometimes even hard for those used to that kind of work but graduating from it did make those who had proud.

"Take on the galaxy." Lachlan mused out loud. It was more a general comment, so not directly pointed at Son to answer. "Well Corporal, I don't have anything else for you today. If you head to see Gunny Flarn he should be able to orientate you better down with the rest of the marines." he said rising. "It was nice to meet you."
