Mission: Episode 10 - New Home, Same Pioneers
Location: Turbolift 1
Timeline: MD007 1500 hrs

Tyler stepped into the turbolift and headed for the bridge. With the wedding and all the festivities looming the stress level on the Pioneer seemed oddly high. Such is the way when a wedding is pending. he thought as he waited for the turbolift.

When the doors opened he found Paul Michael sporting his new red uniform. Tyler smiled and stepped into the lift. "Afternoon Lieutenant. Red suits you."

Paul nodded to the captain."Thank you, sir. It's been a journey to get here."

"A long and arduous journey, But one that has some of the best rewards. I hope that the rest of the department is accepting of you. No issues or anything of the sort." Tyler said sagely and then decided that since Paul was a senior officer now perhaps his brain needed to be picked. "Paul what do you think of the feeling of the ship? I mean to me it seems a bit stressed. How about you?"

"I think we've been through a lot lately, and speaking logically, it makes sense that there is a sense of stress in the air, but overall, I think the crew is holding up very well. After all, there will be 2 weddings soon, so...." He responded.

Tyler smiled broadly. "Yes of course what was I thinking. Congratulations to you and Ensign Auba. With all the weddings I may have to put in for a larger ship." Tyler chuckled at his own joke. "I hope the wedding plans are coming along nicely."

"She wants to have a tradional Bajoran wedding. I'm okay with a simple ceremony, but I'll probably go along with her to make her happy, sir. Thank you for asking."

"Take it from a happily married man. Sometimes you do things to make your spouse happy, and sometimes they do things to make you happy." Tyler regarded his new officer for a moment, and then came to a conclusion. "Some of the other officers and I have a poker game. We have an open chair. How would you feel about joining in?"

"I'm just a fair poker player sir...probably not good enough to sit in on an officers game." Paul answered.

"Meh, we are all just mediocre at best. Besides Paul don't sell yourself short. You are a Senior Officer now and have earned a spot at the table. That is if you want it. It may help you get to know your colleagues a little better." Tyler tried to entice him to join the game. He always liked new comers, it added to the game.

"Then I would be honored to join your game, captain." It's been awhile since he last played poker, but he knew the odds for each hand and he had learned to look for tells from each player.

"Excellent then next Thursday my quarters 2000 hours be there. And bring your game face." Tyler said with a broad smile as the turbolift doors opened onto the bridge. He gave a quick look to Paul and thought that his new pilot needed to loosen up a little. Perhaps poker would do the trick.

Tyler was amazed as most pilots were usually less uptight. But then again Paul was not a typical pilot. Tyler regarded the man as he took his station and smiled warmly. We will crack that shell of yours yet...
