Updating the Chief of Security

Mission: Episode 15 - The Evil That Lies Beneath
Location: Gymnasium - Deck 7 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD003 1900 hrs

Edmund had just gotten done talking with Rachel Sinclair and wanted to talk with Ja'sol about his idea. It was 1900 and figured this would be a good time as any to meet with him. Tapping on his commbadge Edmund stated. =/\Ja'sol, This is Edmund where are you located at? I'd like to talk to you about something. Let me know and I'll meet you there. =/\=

It took a few moments for Ja'sol to respond. =/\=I am currently in the Gym doing my evening workout in the free weights area, perhaps you could spot for me while we converse.=/\= came the response.

Edmund soon arrived appropriatley dressed for the gym. He looked around to find Ja'sol and finiding him, approached him right away. "Hi Ja'sol, thanks for allowing me to meet with you." The marine captain remarked, moving into position to spot the chief of security. "In case you are wondering what I wished to speak about, would be Ensign Rachel Sinclair, your assistant chief of security."

Ja'sol gave Edmund a curious look. " What about her? She's a good officer fresh out of the academy and has her head on straight, she's still a bit green but she shows a lot of promise. " He watched Edmund's face briefly. " You're not here to ask permission to date her are you? If that's what this is about then you need to talk to her and not me, Just treat her right and keep it professional until you two figure out what you want. Ok? "

Edmund raised an eyebrow at this then had to give out a laugh. "No Ja'sol, I am here not on asking permission to date Rachel. Actually it is about her self-confidence, I met with her in the holo deck, she was putting herself through the Kobyashi Maru scenario and getting frustrated with herself. I offered a couple of solutions that could help bring her into a more confident state of mind. One was to recreate the scenario where she froze so to speak where a prison situation happened. The other was offering to have her get into live action Dungeons and Dragons game on the holodeck. I was wondering if you'd be willing to participate in them. After all she is your assistant chief of security."

" Indeed she is. I thought she had gotten past that after we returned from the prison planet, I guess I was wrong. " He thought for a few moments before speaking again. " Yes I would be willing to help Rachel out, but you're going to have to help me out by explaining to me what this Dungeons and Dragons(TM) is. I know what a dungeon is and a dragon is either a scary monster or a mother in law. So enlighten me if you'd be so kind. "

"Well, yes, a dragon could be a mother in law, but that isn't the sort of dragon I am talking about. DnD which the abbreviation for Dungeons and Dragons (TM) you make characters and have them be a race you are interested in playing. And you dress up as your character. Its sort of a sword and sorcery game, fighting, challenges that will need team work something that will promote confidence as you will. Plus just some good old fashioned fun. Here let me show you a couple of short videos to show you what I have done. And some characters that can be made." Edmund pulling out his padd to show Ja'sol.

Ja'sol scrolled through the listings of races and classes and stopped when he saw something that caught his attention. " This character here has a Hu wuan insterment, and his clothes are exceptionally nice. The Hu Wuan is an Eldorian insterment that is closely related to the earth Dulcimer. I think this might intrest me. And what is a tiefling? " He asked.

"Well, they are humanoid with mixed bloodline, human and infernal mixed together. They can be looked upon disfavorably. Depending on the game characters that are met. They are interesting and can be fun to play. I can get the reading material for you to read over and make certain you can get familiar with the character race. And if you are interested in the instrument, maybe you can be a bard." Edmund responded.

" A Bard huh? " He looked at the image. " Well I can sing and dance pretty good, and let's face it. The only reason a guy learns to play an insterment is because the ladies like it. So this class shouldn't be to much of a stretch for me to play. And after reading up on this class I should be able to help out. "

"That sounds great, I am looking forward to that. On another more serious note. Have you noticed something different going on with Commodore Malbrooke? He's been acting a bit differently. And have you seen Commander McGowan? I've not been able to get in contact with her. Granted she is rather busy but... still something is just itching at the back of my mind. I have that feeling as to something is about to happen." Edmund stated.

" Come to think of it, I don't believe I have seen her today. " Stated Ja'sol. " Have you checked the holodeck areas or the gym? That would be my guess. If worse comes to worse, you could always ask the computer. Besides, we're on a federation starship. Where could she go to? " Asked the Eldorian with an amused grin. " Heck, if I want some alone time by myself, I disappear into the jefferies tubes for an hour or three. If it's an urgent matter, then just give her a call on the comm system."

"Ja'sol, just to be quite honest there is something going on with her. She had spoken to me about an entity possessing her, that maybe the reason why she's not answering the call, so... see if you can locate her." he tapped on his commbadge "Commander McGowen, this is Captain Merrick, please acknowledge."

A few moments later, no answer. "There, you see? She's not answering." Edmund stated. "So I am basically asking you to go in search of Rowena, and see if you can catch up to her."

" Edmund, I know you're worried. I'll tell you what, I'll go back to my office and run a level two scan for her combadge and DNA. If she's on the ship I'll know in a matter of seconds where she is. Perhaps she is meditating or just doesn't want to be bothered. But I will let you know where she is and if she is safe. Ok? "

"Ja'sol, what I am trying to say is, she is the Chief of Intelligence, she may not be meditating. Maybe she has been completely possessed and she is the second officer. And yes see if you can track her down, just be very careful." Edmund had a worry about what was happening, and it could be felt.

" Edmund I am fully aware that she is the CIO and the second officer aboard the ship, that alone makes her a critical asset to the command structure. " Ja'sol raised an eyebrow. " What makes you think she may be possessed? I know it's not out of the realm of possibility, and there are some species out there that could possess someone else's mind. Please elaborate on why you feel that way, I feel you are being truthful with me, I just want to know your reasoning behind it."

"Because I saw the hand imprints upon her shoulder right shoulder and the imprint upon her left arm, she actually warned me that the ship was in danger. For some reason it slipped my mind to give a warning, though I hadn't any solid proof as of yet. I did go talk to Vura, the counselor and told her about what I knew. Then there is the strange reaction of Tyler. What Rowena had spoken to me about, of which I believe her, it is coming true. She is being possessed by whatever entity that is with her, and its name is Maleficus. Therefore with things going on, there is a good bet that this entity is now coming out from its slumber, possibly." Edmund replied rather fervently. "This is why Rowena needs to be found."

Ja'sol jotted down some notes. " Ok Edmund I'll look into the matter. Handprints on the arm and shoulder are physical evidence and anything that could be a danger to the ship. I'll also speak with Vura and Tyler to see what they know. So my prime suspect is a person named Maleficus in which I don't know if it is spirtial or physical. But even if it is a energy being, it can still be contained. Now if you'll excuse me I must get this investigation started. The safety and security of this ship is paramount above all else right now. "

"Exactly my feelings as well. Good luck in your investigation and I will keep you updated on my part as well. Both of us are of the mindset of keeping everyone safe on this ship." Edmund rose from his chair, then said. "Once we figure out what is going on, we'll definitely need to have a drink together." And then he left.
