The End Of The River - Crooked River Wrap Up - Episode 13

Posted on Tue Mar 21st, 2023 @ 8:17pm by Commodore Tyler Malbrooke

Well my friends we have reached the end of a long and winding crooked river. I feel like this is perhaps the best mission yet for the Pioneer. We wrote about and touched on some real heavy subjects, including body dis morphia and mutilation. The aftermath of the events of this mission will effect a number of characters for and unknown time to come.

I would like to personally single out the Marines, Security, and Science departments that really added to this mission and made it one for the record books. Thank you for your hard work and great writing. As we move into other stories and missions we will highlight other departments.

I feel like this mission has breathed some new life into the Pioneer and I look forward to seeing what we can do next. So, that is enough of the heartfelt adoration. Suffice to say we all rock but Major Tremble rocks the hardest. lol

So without any gilding the lily and no further ado I give you the one, the only, awards... taps mic... Is thing on?

personalmerit.jpg
Ensign Paisley F'rar - Captain's Personal Merit Award -"This mission Paisley showed us something we do not often see in Star Trek. A character being effected by the events unfolding around them. It was both enjoyable and painful to read as she made her way from a prison riot to watching her crewmates be tossed into harms way while she could not bring herself to join them. Really emotional and stirring writing. Keep up the great work."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

Lieutenant Ja'sol H'ros Re Seva - Executive Officer's Merit Award -"During this mission the Lieutenant has shown exemplary writing on to sides of a very intricate plot. The story arch in the prison ends on a cliff hanger and I am excited to see where that can go in the future. Then he helped run the attack on the Romulan compound. Really great work and great planning."
-Major Cornelius Tremble-

2XO_Merit.jpg
Captain Edmund Merrick - Second Officer's Award of Merit -"I would like to award the second officer's award of merit to Captain Merrick for their involvement in the latest mission. Showing both courage and leadership, and keeping the mission moving forward and bringing it to an end."
-Lieutenant Commander Rowena McGowen-

crewschoice.jpg
Lieutenant Commander Hermia O'Rourke - Crew's Choice Award -"Not only was the player actively involved in various aspects of the mission, they launched the USS Carthage, a garrison ship attached to Empok Nor. The player is also great with other players in and out of posts."
-Lieutenant Commander Alyssa Maren-

intelligence.jpg
Lieutenant Junior Grade Gage Tohoyia - Intelligence Prowess Award -"It does me great pleasure to award this special award to our department to our newest crew member. From the very start being in a covert situation to joining the Pioneer, the intelligence officer showed great potential for the future."
-Lieutenant Commander Rowena McGowen-

departmentsciences.jpg
Lieutenant Commander Alyssa Maren - Departmental Service Badge: Science -"Typically this award is granted by the department head to someone in their department. However, I feel in this case the department head is worthy of this award. Alyssa's leadership of her away team through the Crooked River mission was fit for a Captain. Her method in keeping the plot moving and her writing style added to the overall feel of the mission. Add to that her attempts to solve the issue with science merits this award. Keep up the great work.
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

departmentmarine.jpg
Captain Edmund Merrick - Departmental Service Badge: Marines -"Merrick was one of the key players in keeping Crooked River moving. Always willing to jump in with a tag to make sure that everything stayed on track. Like a true Marine always there when things are tuff. Keep up the great job. OOOHHHH RAH!"
-Major Cornelius Tremble-

SCOM.png
Lieutenant Junior Grade Gage Tohoyia - Support Character of the Month -"For the month of March 2023, this award goes to Gage Tohoyia. Gage has just joined the ship recently and already he is making his presence known. Gage was a large part of the climax of this story and for that we are indebted for his assistance."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

COM.png
Ensign Rachel Sinclair - Character of the Month -"For the month of March 2023, this award goes to Rachel Sinclair. Reading her journey during the mission, from joining the ship through a prison riot and then watching her friends get injured, this has been a hell of a journey for the reader as well. The overarch of the character came to a head this past month and it has been wonderful to read. Their assistance in keeping the story moving and adding ideas for future plots has been invaluable."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

newcomer.jpg
Lieutenant Junior Grade Gage Tohoyia - Meritorious Newcomer Award -"Gage joined this mission right at the end. He merged into the climax without hesitation and helped bring a large battle sequence to a close. It can be hard to join a mission already in progress and Gage really showed us how it is done."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

"He had a difficult task for integrating himself onto the Pioneer. Coming in as a Romulan to rescue the science team was not easy, and he had to get them to trust him enough to not shoot him. He managed quite well."
-Lieutenant Commander Alyssa Maren-

npc.jpg
Ensign Mignon Mejia - Non-Player Character Award -"This mission brought the Ensign to the forefront in a big way. Having to cut off your own foot is something special to say the least. Mejia wrote the transformation due to medicated torture superbly. It was indeed a pleasure to read and goes to show how someone who is not a "main" character can effect the entire story."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

lbraryexcellence.jpg
Lieutenant Commander Alyssa Maren, Ensign Mignon Mejia, Chief Petty Officer Sha’Zen D'Tem, Sergeant Shaylan Kunadt - Library Excellence Ribbon -"The series of posts titled "Dark Shores" is an example of what this award is meant to be for. All the writers involved in the post merge their tags seamlessly and real bring home the feeling of urgency and fear of the unknown that the post is to represent. Really great work..."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

creativity.jpg
Major Cornelius Tremble - Creativity Award -"For creating and executing the Crimson Tide posts in the underwater facility and especially for his portrayal of Kavicus. Not only was it an interesting situation, everyone in the post was given enough information to come up with their own way of dealing with the hallucinations and then the arrival of Kavicus. He was a great villain and made the post a lot of fun to write."
-Lieutenant Commander Alyssa Maren-

zefram.jpg
Lieutenant Commander Hermia O'Rourke MD - Zefram Cochrane Medal of Exploration -"Hermia embodies this award because well they have their hands in everything that goes on aboard the Pioneer. With an character in just about every department aboard the ship they have posts that span all topics. All of their posts are always thought out and very detailed. Add to that their knack for getting others involved and they have more than earned this award."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

purple.jpg
Ensign Mignon Mejia - Purple Heart -"I approached Mejia with the concept that she would be drugged and ultimately go crazy and cut her foot off. Not only did she agree to the plot but she wrote the story with wonderfully. You could really sense the fear that came from the character."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

merit.jpg
Major Cornelius Tremble - Ribbon of Merit -"Every plot that Tremble designs for The Cure is better than the one before it. As this award indicates he shows considerable talent for getting other crew members involved in a plot line. It is for all this and more that I am proud to give this award to our First Officer."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

conduct.jpg
Lieutenant Elen Diari - Good Conduct Medal -"Although I would like to see more of our resident blonde bombshell on our Discord channel (hint hint), they are always ready to come through when needed. During Crooked River our Chief Engineer turned two of our shuttles into submarines. They are always ready to jump in when you throw the ball at them."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

timemerit.jpg
Lieutenant Ja'sol H'ros Re Seva - Service Citation 1 Year -"Congratulations on making it one whole year in the asylum. You have kept the crew safe and on track and for that I am forever grateful. Thank you for being a part of this community and here is to many many more."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

timemerit.jpg
Lieutenant Junior Grade Thex sh'Zoarhi - Service Citation 1 Year -"Has it been a year already? Time flies when you are having fun. Thank you for being part of this community for the past year. For helping to keep this ship running efficiently. Here is to many many more my friend."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

5service.jpg
Lieutenant Commander Rowena McGowen - Service Citation 5+ Years -"Congratulations for putting up with this insanity for five years. Thank you for being a friend and a wonderful addition to this community. I truly could not imagine, nor run this sim without you. Thank you a thousand times thank you."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

5service.jpg
Lieutenant Commander Larim Myles - Service Citation 5+ Years -"Five years makes you part of the furniture. Welcome to being a replicator lol... Seriously thanks for being a part of this sim and family. Can't imagine the place without you."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

ribbonofcommitment.jpg
Master Sergeant Lachlan Barr - Ribbon of Commitment -"I would not be able to run this sim without Lachlan helping behind the scenes. He is ever a sounding board and confidant when it is needed. Ever ready with ideas or to help shape the randomness that comes out of my head. One fourth of this command team and I would not have it any other way. Thank you so much for your time and your efforts."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

ribbonofcommitment.jpg
Lieutenant Commander Rowena McGowen - Ribbon of Commitment -"I would not be able to run this sim without Rowena helping behind the scenes. She is ever a sounding board and confidant when it is needed. Ever ready with ideas or to help shape the randomness that comes out of my head. One fourth of this command team and I would not have it any other way. Thank you so much for your time and your efforts."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

ribbonofcommitment.jpg
Major Cornelius Tremble - Ribbon of Commitment -"I would not be able to run this sim without Cornelius helping behind the scenes. He is ever a sounding board and confidant when it is needed. Ever ready with ideas or to help shape the randomness that comes out of my head. He has already made it farther than any other XO, I seem to burn through them and yet Tremble is still here. It is said that behind every good Captain is a better Executive Officer. Lord knows that is true with the Pioneer. One fourth of this command team and I would not have it any other way. Thank you so much for your time and your efforts."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

bronzestar.jpg
Ensign Rachel Sinclair - Bronze Star -"Sinclair showed us a side of a character that is rarely seen in a Star Trek setting. Typically the crews of these great ships are heroes and are rarely if ever effected by what occurs around them. During Crooked River Rachel showed us just how profound seeing certain things can effect a person. I am forever grateful for seeing a glimpse of that side of this "hero" I can think of no better person to earn this award for the first time on this sim. Keep up the great work!!!!"
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

medalofhonor.jpg
Chief Petty Officer Sha’Zen D'Tem - Medal of Honor -"Sha'Zen was the glue that held the captive away team together during Crooked River. In the heat of it all they managed to keep a level head and even help the officers get through it all. Not a small job for a noncom. I am proud that D'Tem is the first on the Pioneer to have earned this honor. Keep up the great work!"
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-

This mission proved to me that you all are amazing people who can rise to any challenge. You are indeed true Starfleet Officers. Our next mission takes us to Poseidon Station to enjoy some rest and relaxation, and to enjoy the friendly waters of the aquatic planet Aquil. But most of all we will make new friends within the crew of Poseidon Station during Episode 14 - The Poseidon Adventure.

With the close of this mission I feel that the Pioneer is an excellent place as we arrive half way through our five year anniversary. This ship will go five more years and then some. I fell overjoyed that we have built more than a sim, more than a story here. We have built a community and dare I say a family.

But that is enough with the sappiness (lol)... Suffice to say that all of you rock out hard, but I rock the hardest. No seriously... You all are fantastic people and I think you for being here.

As always I am humbled by your writing and your faith in my stories.

For Now
Steady As She Goes,
Commodore Tyler Malbrooke
