Well the adventure ends, but a new one begins. We have learned much and made a lot of new friends at Poseidon Station. Shore leave missions are always special to me as they show us new sides to all of our characters.
New relationships are formed and some are strengthened. The Pioneer family grew as some of our crew now have little ones running around the ship. Just another facet to ever expanding universe.
This mission was exceptionally special to me as it allowed us to interact with another group of characters/players, another active sim. It gave us all a chance to go to someone else's sandbox as it were and play. A challenge indeed, a challenge that we all rose to.
So without any gilding the lily and no further ado I give you the one, the only, awards... taps mic... Is thing on?
Promotions
To start things off the Command Team and myself felt that a couple of promotions were in order. It has been about time that these people got what they have earned. These promotions may be a tad overdue, however, they are well earned.
Sofia Cipriani - It is often said
who counsels the counselor. However, when you are in command of a ship the question is who is the shoulder you lean on. Well in Tyler's case it is his Yeoman and she is always there to give advice beyond her young years and to be a sounding board. It takes a hard hand to keep a Captain from going off the deep end because of his emotions. So for her hard work and all that she does for this ship it is my honor to promote Sofia Cipriani to the rank of Petty Officer Second Class with all of the rights and privileges therein.
Sha'zen D'Tem - During the past mission Crooked River we learned a lot about Sha'zen. It was awesome seeing one of the enlisted come to life and take center stage. They have become an integral part of the Science Team and the ship as a whole. For all of their spectacular work it is my honor to promote Sha'zen D'Tem to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer with all of the rights and privileges therein.
Mignon Mejia - It is not very often that a writer will allow you to sever a limb from one of their characters. When it came Crooked River Mejia was selected to be that victim and the writing that came out of it was beyond good. It was harrowing and emotional. A true story of someone being put to the brink. Brava! For going above and beyond it is my honor to promote Mignon Mejia to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade with all of the rights and privileges therein.
Shayla Kunadt - A Marine whose hands are tied and cannot seem to find a way to win. That was the premise handed to Shayla during Crooked River. As one reads through all of Shayla's posts from that mission, one cannot help but feel the suspense build and wonder what they are going to do. It is definitely a great roller coaster ride. For their hard work and dedication it is my honor to promote Shayla Kunadt to the rank of Staff Sergeant with all of the rights and privileges therein.
Lachlan Barr - Even though he would scoff and say that he does not do much. Lachlan does a lot more than you would know. In particularly behind the scenes. His exemplary actions, in writing as well as helping to push the story forward in both Crooked River and The Poseidon Adventure. He is supportive and someone that you can count on. For all of this and a whole lot more it is my honor to promote Lachlan Barr to the rank of Sergeant Major with all of the rights and privileges therein.
Gaagii - Gaagii's presence in missions is always beneficial. He seems to have the unique ability to push people to write more and get through whatever troubles are presented to them. For being the epitome of a support character it is my honor to promote Gaagii the rank of Gunnery Sergeant with all the rights and privileges therein.
Awards
Lieutenant Paul Michael -
Captain's Personal Merit Award -
"I have enjoyed watching the Lieutenant's family expand on the Pioneer. Very often an officer's family life is glossed over in Star Trek. That is why it is such a pleasure to get a glimpse of Paul's homelife in the stories. I look forward to seeing what is in store for this little family as the Pioneer continues through its missions and enters even more dire straights."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-
Captain Edmund Merrick -
Executive Officer's Merit Award -
"Perhaps a continuation, but I'm still applauding the hard work Ed's writer has been doing on the Poseidon Crossover. Crossovers are hard to get done and yes it does help to write both SIM's. It's still a good bit of work well done and deserving of praise."
-Major Cornelius Tremble-
Lieutenant Commander Hermia O'Rourke -
Second Officer's Award of Merit -
"According to the description this award is given to the crew member the second officer deems worthy. In my opinion that is our good doctor. I deemed her worthy. But in all seriousness this has been hard. But she does spring out to me. Congrats, doc, please always be our doctor."
-Lieutenant Commander Rowena McGowen-
Chief Petty Officer Llaxia -
Enlisted Award of Merit -
"I enjoyed the post in which both she and Lieutenant Vura interacted. Deltan's are not something I come across very often and it was interesting to see the two of them write together to produce an insightful post about the species."
-Master Sergeant Lachlan Barr-
Lieutenant Vura -
Crew's Choice Award -
"Good player interaction and presents a well played and believable character. I had a lot of fun role playing with this character."
-Lieutenant Ja'sol H'ros-
"Vura has been rather diligently working on doing counselor posts and engaging with others. The posts have been engaging and fun to read."
-Captain Edmund Merrick-
"She is always ready with advice, cares about her fellow crew and has a playful side as well."
-Lieutenant Commander Hermia O'Rourke-
Lieutenant Vura -
Meritorious Newcomer Award -
"Since coming aboard, the Pioneer has not been the same. Vura and her larger-than-life personality have kept everybody hopping, whether its because of her assessments or just her presence. She is a wonderful addition to the crew!"
-Lieutenant Commander Alyssa Maren-
Petty Officer 3rd Class Sofia Cipriani -
Non Player Character Award -
"Sofia has shown a lot of growth as being the captain's yeoman and also having a blossoming romance with Gaagii. It has truly been a pleasure watching her development."
-Captain Edmund Merrick-
Lieutenant Junior Grade Mira Jayna -
Non Player Character Award -
"Through a series of posts during shore leave we're seeing many aspects to Jayna which have brought this NPC alive and revealed parts of them that many primary PC's don't. Spinning off Crimson Tide problems from the last mission through shore leave, Jayna's write has established this NPC. They're also a whole lot of fun to write with. Nice work."
-Major Cornelius Tremble-
Major Corenlius Tremble, Lieutenant Ja'sol H'ros, Captain Edmund Merrick -
Friendship Ribbon -
"The post Marine, Security Meetup was not only an enjoyable read but it showed us crew members from different assignments coming together and forging friendships. This is what this award was created for and what the cross sim idea is all about. Keep up the great work. Ja'sol is also the writer behind K'Doc Valadorn on Poseidon Station."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-
Lieutenant Josh Randall -
Departmental Service Badge: Science -
"As thanks for running with my crazy idea to create an android body for Llaxia's sister."
-Lieutenant Commander Hermia O'Rourke-
Lieutenant Ja'sol H'ros -
Departmental Service Badge: Service -
"Ja'sol is the epitome of Security and Tactical Officers. Since he joined the ship he has not only made is presence known over all. But he has made sure to jump in at any moment that Security would be needed. Behind the scenes he is always available to help flesh out a story by adding what his department could do during the plot. Keep the shields up and the weapons armed. Great Work!!!"
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-
Lieutenant Vura -
Character of the Month -
"Judging by the posts one could say that the past month was all about Vura. Not only have they given us glimpses into their character but they helped develop other characters in the process. Truly great work. Keep it up."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-
"Lieutenant Vura's arrival aboard the Pioneer has been like a wild fire. Lots of very good writing that's gotten a great many NPC's dusted off and out writing. I don't think I've seen this much activity during a shore leave scene and Vura's writer has been busy. Nice work."
-Major Cornelius Tremble-
Captain Edmund Merrick -
Support Character of the Month -
"Cross sim missions can always be hard. It helps immensely when someone is willing to go the extra mile and engage people to keep things moving. Merrick is just such a person as they reached across the sim lines and made connections between both crews."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke
Commodore Tyler Malbrooke, Lieutenant Commander Alyssa Maren, Lieutenant Paul Michael, Lieutenant Ja'sol H'ros, Major Cornelius Tremble, Master Sergeant Lachlan Barr, Lieutenant Junior Grade Thex sh'Zoarhi, Lieutenant Elen Diari, Lieutenant Commander Hermia O'Rourke, Lieutenant Junior Grade Trelor-Var of the Elanis Upsol, Captain Edmund Merrick -
Outstanding Post Ribbon -
"The post titled "The Adventure Begins" stands out during this mission for me. If I am honest nothing major occurs there is no great revelation about a character. However, a simple look into what a crew talks about while approaching a station and vacation. What those expecting them talk about. There is a general happy feel about this post and that is something that after the last mission this ship sorely needed. I would like to commend everyone in this post for creating a great general Star Trek type post. Trelor is also the writer behind Captain Neil Harrington of Poseidon Station. Merrick is the writer behind Commander Cara Letsul of Poseidon Station."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-
Lieutenant Vura -
Teamwork Ribbon -
"Since joining the sim the Lieutenant has made it their business to get to know the entire bridge crew in various posts. This is a commendable act not only as the Ship's Counselor but as a player in a sim in general. I want to thank you for bringing out the best in a lot of members of this crew. Thanks, for being a valuable member of the community. Keep up the great work."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-
Captain Edmund Merrick & Petty Officer First Class Kaylara Loran -
Most Creative Cross Sim Post -
"I would like to give this award not for one post but for a series of posts. The series Two Spooks Meet At the Bar is not only a good glimpse into two people's stories, but a great relationship building set of posts as well. It symbolizes the idea that two crew members from different assignments can become friends and maintain that friendship across the great distance. I for one cannot wait to see this unfold in missions to come. Merrick is also the writer behind Stefan Zamfir from Poseidon."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-
Master Sergeant Lachlan Barr -
Library Excellence Ribbon -
"For the post between Lachlan and Cara in Wanderlust. I thoroughly enjoyed writing this piece with Lachlan. It flowed and gave me great delight in doing this. Showed a bit more of Lachlan that others may not know of."
-Captain Edmund Merrick-
Major Cornelius Tremble -
Library Excellence Ribbon -
"Major Tremble and Mira Jayna During Shore Leave, Major Tremble and Jayna have not only worked on the fear that Mira had in being under water but has also added to the world of Aquil. It has been an enjoyable read, following their adventure together."
-Captain Edmund Merrick-
Lieutenant Junior Grade Mira Jayna -
Library Excellence Ribbon -
"Major Tremble and Mira Jayna During Shore Leave, Major Tremble and Jayna have not only worked on the fear that Mira had in being under water but has also added to the world of Aquil. It has been an enjoyable read, following their adventure together."
-Captain Edmund Merrick-
Major Cornelius Tremble -
Creativity Award -
"Writing with any of Shane's characters is always a joy, whether it's exploring a horrific research facility or an underwater city and cave system. His contributions are creative and witty. Even bridge training keeps you on your toes. He's an asset to the sim as both a writer and First Officer."
-Lieutenant Commander Alyssa Maren-
Lieutenant Commander Alyssa Maren -
Scheherezade Award -
"Everything that Alyssa posts is simply put a tale unto itself. For every character that she writes and interacts with. I can think of no one more deserving, or who more encompasses what this award stands for."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-
Lieutenant Commander Hermia O'Rourke -
Service Accomodation Award -
"Hermia has become part of the walls of the ship. They have their hands in every department with a character and are always willing to join in to a plot line. This award was created for someone who always goes above and beyond and that is Hermia in every way."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-
Captain Edmund Merrick -
Outstanding Volunteer Award -
"Cynthia is always there to lend an ear for ideas to bounce off of. She is willing to jump in feet first and help sort out an issue if she can and is wanted to do so. I will always recognize those who are ready willing and able to serve in an out of character capacity. So, I want to say thanks for being there and keep up the great work."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-
Lieutenant Commander Hermia O'Rourke -
Professional Merit Award -
"Hermia has done a lot recently. She had to treat patients with a wide variety of conditions from amputated limbs to demanding and abrasive ensigns. In addition, she survived kissing a Deltan. Through it all, we've come to learn a great deal about the doctor as we watched her work through it with determination and style"
-Lieutenant Commander Alyssa Maren-
Petty Officer Second Class Ostes Ze -

Lieutenant Commander Alyssa Maren -
Two Hundred Post Ribbon -
"Given for the outstanding achievement of 200 Posts on the Pioneer. Great work and keep on writing. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next."
-Commodore Tyler Malbrooke-
As this great adventure comes to a close I begin to reflect and the stories we met and the friendships that were made. A lot of people in this hobby of ours say that writing stories across two sims is hard and not worth it. Well along with the crew of Poseidon Station you have proved those people wrong. Not only were some great stories told but friendships both in and out of character have been made and bloomed.
As the first five years of this sim come to a close I am overjoyed at what we have accomplished and continue to accomplish. The next mission for use will be a unique one in two ways. First it will occur entirely on the ship and two it puts our Chief Intelligence Officer and Second Officer into the spotlight. So, lets all get ready as Rowen McGowen shows us the
Evil Within.
We have built a community and a family here and with the cross sim mission we have grown our family by leaps and bounds. We also continue to welcome new people to our community. This is something that I will never stop doing despite anything that has happened. It is at the heart of what it means to be a Pioneer.
But that is enough with the sappiness (lol)... Suffice to say that all of you rock out hard, but I rock the hardest. No seriously... You all are fantastic people and I think you for being here. I am proud to call you all friends.
As always I am humbled by your writing and your faith in my stories.
For Now
Steady As She Goes,
Commodore Tyler Malbrooke
Commanding Officer, USS Pioneer
