Mission: Episode 3 - Weary Travellers
Location: Ready Room - Deck 1 USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD003 1400 hrs

The trill was humming a tune to herself as the turbolift rose up the ship. She had no idea where she had learned it from, but for some reason, it was stuck in her head. One of the previous hosts must have learnt it from somewhere.

The doors opened as she stepped onto the bridge of her new ship. Her eyes noted the helm controls which she'd be spending a long amount of her time. This was going to be fun.

Her hands pressed the door alarm to the captain's ready room. It was always good to meet the new boss.

Tyler was in the Ready Room finishing up the crew rotations. He sighed as it troubled him that he could not build a family out of the crew if they kept leaving and new people kept joining, but people had careers. The door chime snapped him out of his revelry. "Come..."

The Trill that walked in, he knew as Lieutenant Junior Grade Miex. She was to take over at CONN. "Good morning Lieutenant, what can I do you for?" Tyler said smiling.

"Just thought I'd stop by and introduce myself, Captain. Given I'll be flying this ship quite a bit I thought introductions would be important." The trill responded politely returning the smile.

"Great welcome aboard, please have a seat. I will bring you up to speed. On the Pioneer we have a number of auxiliary craft that I am sure you are familiar with. The Hawkeye which is an Argo Class transport is primarily for the use of the Marines when they are on mission. Speaking of among our Marines is a Lance Corporal Kunadt, they will report to you when not on an operation. The Corporal is an EVAC specialist and the Marine's pilot. Jacqueline Storm is your assistant and has been running the department thus far so you can coordinate with them. Do you have any questions?" Tyler said as he leaned to the side in his chair.

With the arrival of this Lieutenant it had ocurred to him that his Senior Staff was primarily women. Which did not bode well for the various thoughts that he had been having of late. He pushed that thinking to the back of his head and refocused his attention on Miex.

"Have we any idea who we could end up going against? I've heard we could be facing Cardassians, dominion or this new foe the Juno encountered. " The trill asked.

"The Dominion is too busy rebuilding after their losses from the war. As to the Crescent, the Juno will be investigating that further in the Gamma Quadrant. We are tasked with patrolling Cardassian space. What do you know of the Maquis? That is who we will be up against, a group calling themselves the New Maquis. They have Cardassians in their ranks. We have also received word from the Detapa Council that there are members of the former Obsidian Order still at large. However, our biggest enemy for flying would be unknown space. The Badlands for example we just got back from there, and it seems we will be in and out of that region often." Tyler ticked off the enemies on his fingers. He thought that it was an odd question to come from a pilot.

"Maquis and Cardassians working together? How did that happen? " The trill asked before remembering the captain would want to know why she was wanting this information. "Sorry for asking this sir, but I like to know who I'll be flying against if possible. Every species flies there own way and that can always give you an edge."

"No worries Lieutenant. My crew should know exactly how hot the water is before they get in. It is my belief that certain members of the former Obsidian Order have banded together with the New Maquis. Their goal is to push the Federation out of Cardassian space, so that Cardassia can return to a military led government. Joran Thal and his team down in the Belly are still piecing the puzzle together. However, that is the leading theory. As with the past the New Maquis have Starfleet officers in their ranks as well. So you can expect that their piloting skills will be comparable to your own. Speaking of I do have a question for you, this ship unlike most does not have a navigator. That said the CONN officer is expected to navigate and pilot. Is that something that you can handle?" Tyler was finding it hard to get a read on this new officer. He prided himself on his ability to read people but. Her stone face was something almost Vulcanesque. It made him wonder about her past lives.

"I can manage it sir. The piloting course at the academy requires you to know how to navigate the ship even if you have to resort to using the stars." The trill replied cheerily.

"Excellent, then second star to the right and straight on till morning. We should be remaining here at the station for about another day or two. So settle in get to know your people and enjoy yourself on the station until we get underway. When we do leave Commander Jax in station operations will be your point of contact for departure." Tyler sipped his coffee as his smile broadened. "You know, if I combine you with the other two Trill officers that I have on my crew I have almost a millennia of experiences that I can rely on to keep me in check. I look forward to getting to know each of your previous hosts, through the current one."

"I wonder if I've met any of the other host before. In the program or in another life. You do seem to start bumping into the same people. "The trill wondered mostly to herself." Anyway i'll get to know my people and do some research about the local fare."

"I can't imagine having the memories and thoughts of countless lives. See that you do Lieutenant. Oh, and Lieutenant thanks for taking the post and welcome aboard." Tyler replied.

"I'm glad to be here sir. I won't let you down. " replied the trill.
