Last Time On Towers of Greenery Part I

"That is a wonderful plan, and I hope the kids are willing to do so. " Cara looked over towards Brianthe. "Definitely would love to incorporate this in the Arboretum. What do you think?"

She could definitely have a room set aside for kids and crew to have their own garden patch. "I'd love to have the space for a vertical garden. It's one thing to have plants on the ground around you, but another to be surrounded by them." Bri raised an eyebrow. "Do you think there's space available for one?"

"There probably is. Just need to look at the plans of the station just to figure that out maybe even reconfigure a science lab or two. Just need to go talk with the chief of science or even the assistant chief of science." Cara said, musing about the possibilities.

And Now The Conclusion...

Bri nodded. "Yes, I will need to do that." She tried, once, but couldn't find the chief. But it was a large station and science had a lot to do.

Cara gave a nod at that. "I probably should go check in on the chief of Science and see how he is holding up. As there are going to be a great deal of things to look into."

Cara turned towards Alyssa. "Poseidon Station is much different than the station I was serving on. That one was made from a rather large asteroid and had been occupied by another race. We ended up refurbishing it including making a transparent aluminum biosphere which was turned into miniature farms."

"I've heard of asteroids being terraformed on the inside, in caves, but not on the surface. That sounds fascinating," Alyssa said. "Although I think I prefer to be on something that is orbiting a sun or flying under its own power." She wasn't sure she'd want to live on an asteroid if it didn't have a reliable orbit.

"Oh, it is orbiting around a planet, and there is sun. Hence the reason for the dome. We also had underground gardens with the sun lamps and the changing of the lighting representing the day and night." Cara getting a dreamy expression in her eyes. "it was so lovely. Even had an area which grew cacti that gave fruit."

"That does sound nice." And it might give Alyssa some ideas on what to do in the future.

"I'm redesigning the arboretum on the station after the Breen attack," Bri said. "Cara thinks it would be a good idea to make some alterations now since we have a lot to do anyway. I may take ideas from both of you. It could be a lot of fun to see what can be done." She was still in the planning phase, but already she was excited to play with possibilities.

Cara had a pleased smile, "This would work rather well in the arboretum most definitely. And I am looking forward in seeing what you do Brianthe. " She turned towards Alyssa. "Once again I find this rather amazing and well thought out. If I wasn't already a part of the command staff on the Poseidon, I'd be tempted to um.. Stowaway just to play in this set up for a time."

There would be a brief flash of Cara having things weighing upon her shoulders heavily, but that was about it.

"I've seen the arboretum on the station," Alyssa said, chuckling. "You've got a lot of space to play with. We are fortunate to have a cargo bay. I admit, though, it's nice to work in a smaller space and think three-dimensionally. Once we see how the current arrangement works, I'd like to experiment with other varieties of edible plants to see how this could work for other ships that don't benefit from a dedicated arboretum or hydroponics lab."

"Yes. I could see something like this used for family ships where they spend most of their time in space," Brianthe said, looking around again. "It has wonderful possibilities. And for terraforming caves and asteroids."

"There've been some interesting advances in terraforming," Alyssa added. "The ones that fascinate me are taking their ideas from ancient civilizations. Like floating and hanging gardens."

"I've read about those," Bri said, bouncing slightly on her toes. "I may have to add a hanging garden to one of the station's rooms. That could be interesting."

Alyssa nodded. "Send me a hologram of it when you're done. I'd love to see what you do."

"Ooh I love that idea, and I think it will work out rather well for the Arboretum." Cara also getting a bit excited. Her own excitement being fueled even more by the other two ladies. "This has been a boost for my morale right now, thank you ladies for this."

"Thank you," Alyssa countered. "You've both given me sone ideas, too. Please keep in touch. I'd love to see how the repairs on your arboretum go."

"Definitely," Brianthe added. "I'll be happy to help spread the word on using vertical gardens, too. An example on the station might get some attention. I know that some long-range ships use them to grow fresh produce, but I'd love to have an example of how they can be effective in more places. I want to create a hanging garden off the main arboretum." She hugged Alyssa. "Thanks for this."

Alyssa returned the hug and grinned. "I'd love to see it on my next stop here."

She then smiled at Cara. "Thank you for the visit, and your input."

"You are welcome, and, I want an embrace too." Cara grinning. "Can't pass up the chance for one. That is if you are willing." giggling slightly.

"Of course." Alyssa gave Cara a hug, too. "I hope we can meet again sometime. Maybe I'll be able to come back to see the arboretum when you're finished with it."

"I hope we can meet together once more." Cara replied, "I would be quite willing to do so. And I am looking forward to seeing what Brianthe comes up with. I am excited. Well, I should be going, have some station details that I need to tend to." taking another look at the amazing cargo hold that Alyssa had created. "This is certainly a piece of paradise."

"I plan to stop by the arboretum before we leave," Alyssa said. "If you're free, we could have lunch." She, too, would like to see the two women again. She'd spent time with both Brianthe and Ellery while she was here and hoped to keep in touch with them and Cara as well. "Thank you again." She hugged both women as she bid them farewell.

"You're welcome and I would be delighted to have lunch with you." Cara was feeling the natural genuine warmth coming from Alyssa

"Perfect. I look forward to it." Alyssa watched them go and then sat down on a bench, pulled out her PADD, and entered the ideas the two women had given her.
