Well 2021 came to a close and we all rushed head long into 2022. Here is to hoping that this year is so much better than the last. I think back on 2021 and realize that despite the uncertainty and chaos of the real work it wasn't so bad. I got married to the most wonderful woman in the world, I made new friendships, and the friendships that I have had solidified.

In the Pioneer Community we banned together and leaned on each other to get through all that was happening. I know we saw one of our members move into a wonderful knew home, another had a baby and so despite everything we have friends to lean on. It is my great hope that while the year 2022 be better than last year, none of these great things that have happened change.

So that is enough of the misty eyed adoration. Suffice to say 2021 had its ups and its downs. But the Pioneer is always one of the ups...

So without any gilding the lily and no further ado I would like to present a few end of year/beginning of year awards.

Lieutenant Alyssa Maren - Support Character of the Month -"For the month of December this award goes to Alyssa Maren. Since taking over at science they have began and/or written a post with almost everyone. This alone shows that they have hit the ground running and are willing to do what it takes to stay involved. Add to that the uptick in activity within the community and you have a recipe for this award. Really well done... Keep up the great work."

Lieutenant Junior Grade Lunara Hol - Character of the Month -"For the month of December we would like to award the Ship's Counselor with the Character of the Month. Lunara has been writing a series of interesting posts as she delves into the mind of a kidnapping victim who has been brainwashed. They took a concept from the previous mission and have written and aftermath that is superbly written. It has been done so well that we will revisit the supporting character that was kidnapped at a later date."
-Captain Tyler Malbrooke-

Major Cornelius Tremble - Character of the Year -"Simply put Tremble mad 2021 a joy to read. During a harsh time in the real world he composed posts that were both poignant and humorous. Always available to assist with plot ideas and to keep the plot moving when it slows down. There are times when he is more than a right hand, he is the left hand as well. This game is better for his presence. 2021 was better for his writing. Thank you for everything..."

So here is to everything that 2021 was and to everything that 2022 will be. Lets keep telling the great stories that we want to tell. The Pioneer is more than a fictional ship, it is a community of writers and of friends.

Happy New Year!!!

For Now
Steady As She Goes,
Captain Tyler Malbrooke
Commanding Officer, USS Pioneer
