Personal History Zanna was born and raised on Trill, the youngest child with two older brothers. Her father is a science teacher, and her mother is a government official. Born and raised on the Trill homeworld, Zanna grew up surrounded by the rich cultural history of her people. From an early age, she displayed a keen curiosity and aptitude for the sciences, which drew her towards a future in Starfleet. Despite her passion for exploration and the unknown, she faced an unusual circumstance within Trill society – she was unjoined.

As one of three siblings, Zanna grew up with two older brothers, who both took divergent paths in their lives. Her eldest brother, Keevan, became a skilled engineer, joining the Trill Symbiosis Commission, while her other brother, Jaris, chose a more adventurous route, enlisting in Starfleet to explore the galaxy.

Zanna's unjoined status initially brought feelings of inadequacy and frustration, as she longed to experience the memories of past hosts and the wisdom they brought. However, she learned to embrace her individuality and discovered the unique perspective she could offer to the universe.
Service Record Zanna's journey to join Starfleet was a result of a combination of her passion for exploration, her desire to make a difference, and a fortuitous encounter.

During her time at the Trill Science Academy, her professors recognized her exceptional skills and dedication to her studies. One of her mentors, a retired Starfleet officer who had once served as a science officer on a starship, saw great potential in Zanna and took a keen interest in her progress.

This mentor, Commander Liana Trent, noticed the young Trill's insatiable curiosity and yearning to venture beyond the confines of Trill society. Knowing that Starfleet would provide the perfect platform for her ambitions, Commander Trent encouraged her to consider joining the organization.

At first, Zanna was hesitant due to her unjoined status, feeling that her potential was limited compared to joined Trills who could draw upon generations of memories and knowledge. But Commander Trent, having served alongside various Trill hosts, assured her that her unique perspective as an unjoined individual could be just as valuable in Starfleet's diverse and ever-changing landscape.

As Zanna pondered this opportunity, her older brother, who was already serving as a Starfleet officer, shared his own experiences with her. He spoke of the thrill of exploration, the camaraderie amongst the crew, and the sense of purpose that came with serving in Starfleet. His stories, combined with Commander Trent's encouragement, eventually swayed her decision.
With her family's support and a newfound determination, Zanna applied to Starfleet Academy. Her outstanding academic record and her mentor's glowing recommendation secured her admission. Thus, she embarked on her training at the Academy, where she excelled in both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Zanna's athleticism and team spirit helped her forge strong bonds with her fellow cadets, making her a natural fit for the rigors of Starfleet life.

Upon graduation, with her diploma in hand and her dreams within reach, she was assigned to the USS Pioneer as a Science Officer. It was the beginning of her adventurous and fulfilling career in Starfleet, where she would go on to explore the vastness of space, learn from diverse cultures, and contribute her unique perspective to the service of the Federation.
