Empok's End - Episode 9 Wrap Up

Posted on Tue May 5th, 2020 @ 3:08am by Commodore Tyler Malbrooke

Before I say anything else I need to say Bravo! and Thank you, a million times thank you!

Bravo to all of the writers who participated in this mission. The writing was action packed and emotionally driven. On top of that something that is very hard to do in the simming world occurred during this mission. We had an entire mission that spanned not only multiple ships, but multiple fleets. So I want to start off by saying thank you to the crew of the USS Churchill & USS Ottawa from Mystic Knights, the USS Tianglong, USS Shenzen, and the USS Tianjin from BravoFleet. It humbles us here on the Pioneer to have had a chance to write with such great talent. I hope that our paths will cross again in the future.

Empok's End was a bittersweet mission for me. It was the culmination of an long plot arch that had been seeded in every mission. However, I am a little sad to see the Pioneer leave the world of Empok Nor, a world of our creation. It is for that reason that the story of Empok Nor will continue. This mission also saw the sad loss of one of the Pioneer's own. Something that as yet had not hit this crew. It will certainly be interesting to see how the crew deals with the loss of one of their own.

Finally this mission saw the end of a chapter in one of my character's lives. Hadir Prenar went head to head with his father, and the father died. The question remains what will be the ramifications of that fight. Hadir still has a sister that is out there, what will that mean for the Pioneer and the fleet at Vidal Shipyards? The Obsidian Order is all but dead and buried now, however the New Maquis now that is another story. Leyton escaped his fate aboard Empok Nor. What made matters worse is he got the blueprints for Starfleet's Titan Class carrier. Only time will tell what he plans to do with that.

All in all I believe that Empok's End and all the missions leading up to it were not only entertaining but created a great foundation for us to build on. Now we change scenery and head toward Romulan space and all the new challenges that can be present there. But never fear, I believe the Pioneer may return and visit Empok Nor a few times as we go down the road.

So that is enough of that... Suffice to say you all rock, and I am humbled to write in your presence.

So without any gilding the lily and no further ado I give you the one, the only, awards... taps mic

Warrant Officer Mira Jayna - Captain's Personal Merit Award - "This mission had a lot of large JPs and as such writers can get lost in the shuffle. I would like to recognize Mira for not only holding her own in the large JPs but for posting as multiple characters in multiple sub arcs. Her contributions in the Empok Nor retake sub arc were most noticeable. Keep up the great work, and this means that you have raised the bar for yourself. So now we expect to see more from you lol. Excellent work, and I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us as the Pioneer enters its next season."

Makeba Brown - Executive Officer's Merit Award - "In the past we have looked players and not particularly the character behind the player. In this case, I want to look at the character. Makeba is a very complex character, and a lot of fun to interact with in the siming world. Despite her short comings and questionable loyalties, you just want to read more about this character. Makeba Brown is deserving of the XO Merit Award."
-Commander Quinn Ó Flannagáin-

2XO_Merit.jpg
Lieutenant Junior Grade Nazia Tam - Second Officer's Award of Merit - "I've been watching this writer's storyline on Hollister and look forward to seeing where they go with a new character."
-Captain Cornelius Tremble-

"I wanted to add my own lthought to the Second Officer's pick. Ingrid Hollister joined the Pioneer under mysterious circumstances and left under equal mysterious circumstances. I hope that we get to see some more of her as we move through the story. Very good writing and I for one am intrigued."
-Captain Tyler Malbrooke-

crewschoice.jpg
Ensign Eleanor Raine - Crew's Choice Award - "I choose Dana Wakefield/Eleanor Raine. Of course it is always hard losing a great friend, but she has been through a lot. She died serving and saving her crew mates. Having a lot of regrets, but not being able to do anything about it. She deserves a last reward."
-Staff Warrant Officer Jennifer Masters-

"This is really for their previous character but still the writer as a whole. This person has been with us a long time and to write the death of a character is nothing easy. As we had all came to know the character to see their demise and how it affected the story, and continues to do so, is a testament to the writing and thought process behind it. I have not seen the death of a character written for a while as so many just disappear or 'move on' so to read it was different and interesting. Obviously no-one wishes death on anyone but it was handled and structured well and was a fitting finale for their character."
-Crewman Sofia Cipriani-

"As Raine is the new character for Wakefield's player, this is where my vote is going as Character death is rare and something that deserves notice. Very nice death scene."
-Captain Cornelius Tremble-

ENLISTED.jpg
Crewman Sofia Cipriani - Enlisted Award of Merit - "I have not posted with this character much, but the few posts I have with this character are quite positive. Crewman Cipriani is the Yeoman on the ship and she does a great job at it. She may not be handling tactical or serve in sickbay, but her job on this ship is crucial nonetheless. I want to give this special notation to the Yeoman, thank you for your service!"
-Command Chief Petty Officer Phuong Lan Nguyen-

Captain Cornelius Tremble & Lieutenant Elen Diari - Creativity Award - "For the creation and execution of the post titled "The Still"
-Lieutenant Commander Larim Myles-

Ensign Eleanor Raine - Service Citation 2+ Years - "It was a nice two year run for Dana Wakefield, and now we look forward to the addition of the new character Ensign Elanore Raine. The writer behind these characters has been a great addition to the Pioneer story and community. We are thankful to have them, and know that they will add a nice bit of humor and emotion to any post that they are involved in. Thank you for the wonderful two years and here is to many many more."
-Captain Tyler Malbrooke-

Ensign Eleanor Raine, Captain Tyler Malbrooke, & Lieutenant Elen Diari - Outstanding Post Ribbon - "For the month of April I would like to nominate the post "Redemption." Matt has me crying over this due to the raw emotion of his writing. Had to step away from the sim for a few days in truth because of the death of his character it hit me that hard.
-Lieutenant Elen Diari-

"I am giving this award for the post titled "Redemption" It is an emotional, action packed post. One can tell that a lot of energy went into that post. It wasn't just a death scene, it gave us three things all at once. A triple gut punch if you will. First there was what was going through Dana's mind when she died, an allogory to what may go through anyone's mind when they die. Next a friend, by way of Diari gives us what it is like to witness a death and be helpless about it. Finally, Malbrooke gives us the removal from death, that life continues without the knowledge of someone dying. Very powerful... Just a well written post. Bravo!"
-Captain Tyler Malbrooke-

Lieutenant Ameri Ó Flannagáin - Service Citation 1 Year - "Ameri joined the sim and like a breath of fresh air she enriched this sim to no end. A valuable addition to the sim, the story, and the community. I am proud that in the past year she has allowed me to call her friend. Thank you for being with the Pioneer, and this community. But most of all thank you for keeping our illustrious XO in check."
-Captain Tyler Malbrooke-

timemerit.jpg
Lieutenant Junior Grade Nazia Tam - Service Citation 1 Year - "Nazia originally joined the Pioneer as Ingrid Hollister, a character that I had the pleasure of interacting with on another sim. I am happy that the Pioneer has been able to continue the story of Hollister. Now I am happier to see a new character joining us. Every person is an integral part of the Pioneer community, and you are no exception. So thank you for being here, and adding your unique writing style to the Pioneer."
-Captain Tyler Malbrooke-

POW1.png
Abigail Ballston, Staff Sergeant Alexandra Hobard, Corporal D'tar Xo'chi - Outstanding Post Ribbon - "I liked the post "Collison of Fear and Hope". I thought it was excellent" Awarded for the month of March."
-Lieutenant Junior Grade Paul Michael-

conduct.jpg
Captain Tyler Malbrooke - Good Conduct Medal - "In spite of his intense real life situation, he managed to keep the sim moving and tag in to his posts. He's continually an example to the crew."
-Warrant Officer Mira Jayna-

"As CO, Malbrooke has kept us together through these trying times."
-Lieutenant Hermia O'Rourke

hearttiger.jpg
Captain Tyler Malbrooke, Commander Quinn Ó Flannagáin, Captain Cornelius Tremble, Lance Corporal Rairror Thoran, Corporal Azure Thompson, Staff Warrant Officer Jennifer Masters, Warrant Officer Mira Jayna, Lance Corporal Adélaïde Moreau, Chloe De La Vega - George S Patton Memorial Award - "A huge portion of the mission Empok's End was battle. Both between ships and on the ground. I am awarding this award to everyone who participated in this epic battle scenes. Scenes that can be hard to write as they are very visual. These writers deserve special recognition for making you feel like you were there in the heat of battle. Most of these writers portrayed a lot more than their main characters in these battles.
-Captain Tyler Malbrooke-

crosssim.jpg
Captain Tyler Malbrooke, Commander Quinn Ó Flannagáin, Captain Titus Knight, Lieutenant Hayley Buchanan, Lieutenant Commander Derek Winston, Lieutenant Commander Jordyn Hopkins, Lieutenant Delilah Godfrey, Lieutenant Michael Hudson, Lieutenant Junior Grade Veronica O'Neill - Most Creative Cross Sim Post - "The post titled "Belly Of The Beast" is nominated for this award. This post was a cross sim post with crew of the USS Tianglong. It served a number of purposes, two of which were to show a desperate group of people who would stop at nothing. The other was to establish a plot point to be revealed further down the road. This particular plot point will effect both the Pioneer and the Tianglong. I think it was beautifully written by all involved and kept the tension of a hostage situation high. It also showcases the talent prevalent in both sims. Well done to everyone..."
-Captain Tyler Malbrooke-

This mission was a great ride, and I think some true Trek. It would not have been possible without the help from our friends in the other fleets. We have really created a unique and fun sim setting in Empok Nor. One that other sims are noticing and using. So Kudos to all of us. I am looking forward to those sims stopping by and writing with us at our beloved home station.

With the closing of this mission we welcome a few new writers to the crew and we welcome them with open arms. Welcome to the ship and welcome to the community, you all are truly part of something special.

For Now,
Steady As She Goes,
Captain Tyler Malbrooke
Commanding Officer, USS Pioneer
