Enya came out of her room, waiting for her Dad to get home. She was excited to tell him about her day.

Walking into the kitchen she got a glass of milk and a plate of cookies and sat down on the couch, listening to music on her padd. She liked Country music, this guy named Strait was really good.

Quinn lock the door and noticed instantly that Enya was waiting for him. He grinned as he said, "Yes?" Quinn asked, as he wondered what she wanted.

“Hi Dad,” Enya grinned , holding out the plate. “I can’t wait to tell you about my day. Do you want a cookie?”

"Sure." Quinn said, wondering what she wanted with him. Why was buttering him up? Was she plotting something, or being sincere with her intentions.

Enya held out the plate. “I spent the day with Captain Malbrooke and his ensign.” She began. “Did you know he has a lot of paperwork like you do?”

"Yes I am aware." Quinn said with a big grin on his face. He was happy for Enya to see he was job was not sitting in the center seat all day long watching tv.

“I got to take pads back and forth,” Enya said with a grin. “And everybody called me Ensign O’Flannagain!”

"Oh really, acting ensign or ensign?" Quinn as thinking I was very cute of the crew to do.

“Acting Ensign,” Enya replied. “Now I am back to being a kid in school.” She grinned. “0n to important stuff. Can we go bowling?”’

"Anything is possible, but you know how to clear that with your mother." Quinn play it up to her, thinking she can try to pull a fast one on him.

“I can message her and ask,” Enya replied after thinking for a moment. “Do you think she will say yes!”

"You can try that, if you want." Quinn said with a humbling smile on his face. He wondered what Ameri would say, to the two of them playing bowling without her.

Enya sighed. “I don’t want Mom left out, she loves to bowl with us!” She looked at her Dad. “I don’t want to make her sad!”

"So what do you want to do?" Quinn asked, trying to point out to her, she would have to make a decision. Do they call Mom or not. And do they bowl without her?

Enya sat for the longest time. “What if we cook dinner and then when Mom gets here we can eat and then go? That way she doesn’t have to feed us and we will still have time?”

"You want to go in Mom's kitchen? Girl, do you have a death wish? You know how territorial your mom is about her kitchen area." Quinn pointed out to Enya.

“Let’s go another day then,” Enya said stubbornly. “I’m not gonna leave her behind.” She sighed. “Want to play a game like Skipbo or something?”

"Get the cards, hope you don't mind coming in second place?" Quinn asked in a teasing way, suggesting to her, that he was going to win.

Enya gave him her best, serious imitation of his look. “You are so going down. The loser does the dishes!” She grinned at him, waiting to see his response.

"No, we both do the dishes. The winner gets to pick the show we watch tonight as a family." Quinn said, countering his daughters proposal. With a proposal of his own.

“That works for me,” Enya went got the cards out of the drawer. She came back and set them down. “Shuffle and deal, Dad! I am about to beat you!”

Quinn started to shuffle the cards, then he smiled. "Will see sweetie." Quinn said, with a big grin on his face.

Enya picked her cards up as he dealt and sighed. She didn't have the greatest cards but she was going to give it her best effort. "Mom's been working late a lot."

"She's trying to get the new guys up to speed, things will settle down, after shore leave is up." Quinn said, as he started to deal out the cards.

“Okay,” Enya replied, looking at her cards. If their shore leave ended it meant they were going somewhere again and maybe her Dad or Mom would go on a mission. She knew they would be happy.

"Things will get back to normal around here, just give it a little time." Quinn said, trying to re assure his daughter.

“Okay,” Enya said, putting a card down. “You are happy to be going somewhere again.” It wasn’t a question, more@of a statement.

"Aren't we all, I am explorer. I want to see what is out there." Quinn said, with a big grin. He was curious, how he was going to feel in two years, when he was anchored to a station.

“That’s okay then,” Enya said. She didn’t want to talk about this anymore. “It’s your turn, Dad.” She smiled. “I hope Moms making my favorite.”

"Aren't you excited to get a chance to get back out there and deep space to discover the unknown?" Quinn asked what the curious look on his face.

“Me?” Enya looked over at her Dad. “You know what my ‘unknown’ is? What new homework Mr. Wallace will throw at me.” She laid down her last card and smiled. “I win!”

"Do you know?" Quinn said, thinking that was a little presumptuous of you. But not a bad move. "That was only one round." Quinn quickly reminded her.

Enya smiled at him. “Beating you is hard, Dad.” She looked at him with innocent eyes. “I am happy about a mission cause you and Mom are happy. I just distracted you so I could win. Mom said it works and it did!”

"It's one hand, and you did not distract me. Everyone gets a lucky break, once in a while." Quinn suggested to Enya. Trying not to let her ego inflate to largely.

“Okay,” Enya said as she shuffled the cards. “We will see, I will win again,”

Quinn felt bad for, since she was trying to rub it in, now he would have to play for real. She needed to learn humility with her victories. "Just deal." Quinn said, in a cool and collected tone to his voice.

Enya looked at her Dad and started dealing. “You’re gonna make me pay!” She grinned then as she dealt the last card. “I’m ready for two wins!”

Quinn knew that would not happen again. "Are you going to talk, or you gonna play?" Quinn asked her, with a big grin on his face.

Enya put a card down. “I thought you smart adults could talk and play.” She smiled at him. “Kids can!”

"Little one, you have so much to learn." Quinn said, as he put down quite a few cards, getting down to his last one, and calling it out.

Enya frowned at him. “Did I really win that first game,” she said as she put two cards down and waited for him to win. “Or did you let me win?”

"I have no idea, what you are talking about." Quinn said, with a big grin on his face. After she played her hand, he played his and went out.

Enya shook her head. “I am not counting my win. I want to beat you on my own.” She smiled at him. “You’re really good and it’s your deal.”

"Part of learning about victory is learning to strategize." Quinn said, with a humble smile, as he started to reshuffle the cards.

“I am going to beat you one day,” Enya said with determination. “Without you letting me!”

"It's nice to have goals, sweetie." Quinn said, in a teasing voice. He was being more silly than factual. "The more you play, the better you will become, when it comes to strategy." Quinn pointed out to her.

“Did you always win?” Enya asked him after she thought for a moment. “Or did Grandfather beat you?”

"no I don't always win especially when I used to play against Grandpa it took me many years to finally beat that old man." Quinn started to explain to her.

“I feel better,” Enya grinned. “You enjoy all this winning, Dad. One of these days I am going to get better!”

"I know you little pumpkin, until then just keep working hard and you'll get there." Quinn said with a loving smile on his face.

“I will,” Enya said with determination. She smiled at him with an impish grin. “Then maybe I’ll let you win once in a while.”

"Now that's a spirit." Quinn said with a big grin on his face, as the scene starts to fade away

Enya laughed and gave her Dad a big hug. She always had fun playing games with him.
