Location: Ready Room - Deck 1 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD007 0930 hrs

"Tye, do you want to tell me what that was about?" Quinn asked, as he got situated in his captain's ready room, with morning cup of coffee. Today he was working a half day, and just completed operation cupid.

Tyler smirked while his face was covered by his rachtajino cup. "Why Number One whatever do you mean?" He walked over to the couch and sat down to relax. Tyler found that friendly gatherings seemed less friendly when he sat behind the desk.

"Don't play coy, Tye." Quinn said, with a big grin on his face. They both knew that Tye purposly gave him that assignment.

Tyler laughed he loved it when he was able to get Quinn outside the box sort of speak. "Captain's prerogative. But tell me how did it go? How did she take it? I mean I don't want to judge people's cultures but the idea of prearranged marriages strikes me as a little odd."

"It's classified." Quinn started to say in a playful manner. He was not being serious. he just wanted to give Tyler a little grief over making him talk to Krisna Solwick.

Tyler gave Quinn a look that said spill it. "Come now Number One I need to know if there is going to be a third wedding to preside over or not. Although this one I think I should avoid, Betazoid traditions and all." He laughed at the tongue in cheek joke.

"I am pretty sure it will be a traditional betazed wedding sir. Time to start hitting them gym for the both of us." Quinn said, with a big grin on his face.

Tyler laughed. "Too right you are and I think I need to lay off the sweets. Well I do hope that all went well with your special mission and I thank you for carrying that out. I hope that they can come to love each other. I for one never fully understood arranged marriages. But, who am I to judge other people's cultures."

"I will admit the Betazed cultural confuses me, part free will, part conservative and part liberal. Arranged marriages, low divorce rates and naked weddings." Quinn said, trying to figure them out is a full time job. And he did not know where to start.

"Well thankfully that is not ours to figure out. We just have to live with their customs. You know I spent some time with Enya. You have one hell of a daughter there. She is going to make a great Captain one day." The idea of families had been on the forefront of Tyler's mind for some time.

Quinn noticed how quickly that Tyler had changed the topic from betazed customs to his daughter. Quinn just smirked, as he thought to himself. Nicely done, Captain.

"You dont have to tell me, I already know." Quinn said, as he decided Tyler was not getting off the topic that easily. "I just spoke to the Ambassador, she wants you to officiate the wedding personally." Quinn pointed out to him.

Tyler almost spit his coffee out. "Ummm what? I mean I do not see how it is possible that I rate such an honor. You are sure about this?" He had to do it now. If he said no to am Ambassador that could risk an international incident. Tyler did not seem too enthused by this change in events.

"She did not say when, but I have a feeling that Zaire and Kalina need to accept this proposal and agree to the marriage." Quinn said, still feeling awkward about the whole situation.

"By the sound of your voice I am guessing that the young lovers are not too keen on the subject. At least I have that going for me. I mean that there is no need to plan a wedding just yet. We still have to wait for the happy couple to sign off." Tyler was not going to sabotage this arranged marriage, however, he was not going to be excited for it either.

"That's making a pretty big assumption there sir." Quinn said, with a smile on his face. He decided to tease the Captain a little bit, for pawning this off on him

Tyler sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "You may be right. I think we both may be spending quite some time in the gym. You always have your finger on the pulse of the crew. Tell me how are they settling in to the new location and new mission scope." This was one of the foremost worries on Tyler's mind at the moment.

"Most of the crew is eager to get back out, however several of us are having a hard time letting go." Quinn said with a big grin on his face. "Once you have a taste of shore leave, it's hard to let it go."

"Too right you are... I am hoping that we will receive some orders soon. As it stands right now Admiral Lancaster wants us to simply stay put. So we may as well let the crew enjoy themselves." In truth Tyler was getting a little itchy staying at the Starbase, but orders were orders. It bothered him immensely that they were not out there exploring.

"The longer we stay put sir, the harder it will to get over sir. That shore leave is a killer." Quinn said, with a big grin on his face.

"I agree... I have been in touch with the Admiral and will be meeting with him shortly. With any luck we will be back out there within the week. Then we can get back to operating without someone breathing down our necks." Tyler responded with an equally big grin on his face.

"That would be nice." Quinn said, with a humble smile on his face. He preffered to be out there in space, and exploring the unknown. There was still a lot they did not know, about the Romulans. So much they could learn.

"For now Number One, I suggest enjoy the time. Live it up. Out there isn't going anywhere. " Tyler smiled and sipped his coffee. He enjoyed spending downtime with his XO. And was glad of it right now.

Quinn was not sure he really could enjoy this time. It was a working shore leave, and everytime he started to enjoy it, work called him back.

The life of a command officer, he thought to himself, with a big grin on his face. "I will work on that sir." Quinn said, with a big smile on his face, as the scene starts to fade away.
