Mission: Episode 10 - New Home, Same Pioneers
Location: Starbase Sirius, Promenade
Timeline: MD001 1930 hrs

Quinn smiled as Ameri, Enya and himself walked onto the promenade. He took a good look around, as they walked into the promenade area of the station. He noticed how lively this place was. He looked over to Enya and Ameri. He was not sure, who was more excited.

“Smell that!” Ameri’s eyes lit up. “So many different kinds of food!”

“I want pizza,” Enya spoke up. “With French fries!”

"I hope you are kidding, we just had meatloaf for dinner." Quinn said, as he watched the excitement in their faces. His taste buds, were also going haywire.

“The smell makes you hungry, Dad,” Enya spoke up. “I wish I knew what it was like to go to a carnival and smell all the foods there.”

"Were going to be on station for a few days, we can have dinner here tomorrow night, assuming Mom is okay with that?" Quinn said, not wanting to step on his wife's toes.

“That sounds good to me,” Ameri spoke before Enya could say a word. “I like that plan.”

“What are we going to do?” Enya asked them. “Something fun?”

"Depends on what there is to do on this station, lets explore the promenade and find out." Quinn said, with a big grin on his face.

“I hope they have video games,” Enya grinned. “We can see who is the best shot at target practice.”

"That wont be fare to you, we are both sharp shooters with a phaser." Quinn suggested to Enya. That would not be very fare at all.

“Did I mention blindfolded,” Enya said with a smile. “Evens the odds for me.”

"No thanks then." Quinn said, with a big smile on his face. He had no desire to shoot blindfolded. "Anything else you want to try?" Quinn asked.

“What if we just walk through and see if something catches our eye,” Ameri said with a smile. “There are a lot of arcade games I am sure we can find one you two may have a chance at beating me at.”

"Now that sounds like a great idea." Quinn said, as he motioned for the ladies to follow his lead.

Enya giggled. “I want to play asteroids if we find it!” After her mother said she would be sure to beat them she wanted the advantage for her and her Dad.

“Oh no,” America grinned. “It has to be a game none of us has played before in order for it to be fair.” She looked at her husband. “Right, Quinn?”

"I don't mind having an unfair tactical advantage." Quinn said in a cute yet teasing voice. He gave a small smirk of sarcasm to his tone.

"Well I do," Ameri spoke up with a grin. "If that is the case then we can play one that I am good at." She almost laughed because Enya and Quinn were very good. She honestly just played for the fun, they were competitive.

"She's afraid your going to beat her again, Dad," Enya grinned. "Then you're going to have to get her a consolation prize!"

"Well that would be no fair, you win most games already." Quinn suggested to her, with a big smile on his face.

Quinn then looked over to Enya. "Your Mom let me win." He suggested to Enya, with a look of seriousness in his voice.

"What!" Enya's eyes grew big. "Why would she let you win, that is no fun!" She then wondered something else. "Do you guys let me win?" She wouldn't like that at all.

"Sometimes you need to let others win. If you always loose, what's the fun in playing again with that person?" Quinn suggested to Enya.

"True," Enya said after thinking about it for a moment. "I would probably not want to play anymore." She grinned. "So let's just play and have fun."

"Sounds like a great idea to me, let's see what's out there." Quinn said, as they continued to walk down the promenade area. Looking for something to do, as a family.

Ameri looked around as they walked. “Do you two want something physical like racquetball or minature golf, maybe a virtual maze?”

“I want to do something like that,” Enya spoke up. “That we can all do together. What do you think, Dad?”

"A maze would be something fun to do, or an escape room." Quinn said, hoping they would like to do an escape room.

“Yes!” Ameri’s eyes lit up. “We have been talking about that for a while.” She looked over at Enya.

“Are you kidding me!” Enya’s eyes lit up. “I’m in!” She loved it that her parents liked to do fun things with her and she didn’t miss out.

"Then by all means, after you." Quinn said, as he motioned with his hands for Enya to lead the way. He loved seeing her enthusiam.

“Let’s go!” Enya pulled on both their hands. “I wonder how long it will take us to get out?”

“With you in there,” Ameri said with a smile. “We will be out in no time.”

Quinn just smiled, thinking to himself, it was not going to be that easy. He knew they would have to work together, in order to get out. "Does it matter, we are only there to have fun." Quinn pointed out to both ladies.

"It doesn't to me," Ameri grinned. "I hope it's difficult, I want a challenge. not something that is done and over with."

Enya listened to her parents and grinned. "Yeah, wouldn't it be cool if we were stuck in there all night?"

"Maybe not all night. First Officer has a reputation to uphold." Quinn said, as he winked at Enya then at Ameri.

"As does the operations chief," Ameri said with a grin of her own. "We will win the day."

"I love solving puzzles," Enya spoke up. "I can't wreck my record either." She looked at her Dad. "If you have a choice, pick a hard one."

"Then it sounds like we will have an advantage, going into the escape room." Quinn said, stroking both of their ego's a little bit.

This was one of those moments that Ameri wanted to save in her memories and pull out every once in a while. They were all looking forward to the escape room and solving it together as a family. It would be fun for them all. "They have several different rooms." She said. "Level 1 to level 5. I know Enya, you will want five as it's difficulty level is extreme. Quinn?"

"Five Dad," Enya encouraged. "O'Flannagains don't do easy."

"I think we should build up to it Enya, if we start at a five, where will the fun be at doing a level 1 through 4?" Quinn asked, trying to reason with his little girl.

"Where do you want to start then?" Enya asked him. She thought he was right but she was worried one might be too easy.

"We're going to be here for several days," Ameri spoke up. "What if we do level one tonight and then we can do another one tomorrow."

"I am hoping for a couple of rounds, but I agree with Momma. Start at level one. What do you think Enya?" Quinn asked with a big smile on his face.

“Level one,” Enya nodded. “And then we can decide if we want to do another tonight or wait for tomorrow.”

"Let's get started." Quinn said, as they all walked into the store's lobby. They needed to sign a release form, in order to play.

Ameri read the form and handed it to Quinn for him to read as well. She signed her name. “Your turn.” She said to Quinn.

Quinn signed the papers, then grinned at Enya and then at Ameri. "Let's do it." Quinn said, as they were ushered into a room.

Ameri looked around and then at Quinn and Enya. “This is it, once it starts we have to look for clues and try to get out of here.”

"Enya, you got point." Quinn started off, with a big grin on his face. He waited for Enya to start them off.

“We need to work together,” Enya said as she looked around. The room looked like a cabin on a pirate ship, there was even a cage with a parrot it in. A large chest sat moo in the corner and there was all kinds of things around that could be clues. “I think we should see If the parrot talks.”

"Your the Captain, and we know parrots love to talk to their Captains." Quinn suggested to Enya, with a big grin on his face.

Enya walked over to the cage. "Hi, pretty bird." She grinned as it looked at her and repeated her words.

"Pretty Bird! Pretty Bird!"

Ameri was looking around and saw the chest in the corner was locked. "It seems to easy that the bird would know the combination, doesn't it?"

"What's the magic word?" the bird said.

"Word is the bird." Quinn said, with a teasing grin on his face.

The bird squawked. “No word, no word.”

Enya looked at the parrot. “What is the password?”

“Polly wants a cracker!”

Ameri laughed outright and then looked around. “See a box of crackers?”

"I am a little hungry." Quinn teased. As he motioned his hands over his belly. He was playing along with the scenario.

“Moms right I think!” Enya’s eyes lit up. “We need to feed the bird crackers.”

Ameri started looking around for something to feed the bird.

"I wonder what's in this container?" Quinn asked, noticing on the label that it said bird seed.

“It’s for Polly!” Enya said with excitement. “Let’s open it and feed the bird!” She took the box and opened it. “There’s seeds in it!”

“Pour some in the tray,” Ameri suggested to their daughter. “Then let’s see what happened next.”

Quinn just observed watching Enya for the season to the dish and is scooting it over to the parrot. He wondered how the parent would react or if it would drop the next clue.

Enya waited while the parrot ate the food and then asked again. “What is the code?”

“The Knight has the code,” the Parrot said and then looked over at Quinn. “Kiss Polly, Handsome!”

Ameri couldn’t help it, she started laughing. “I can’t take you anywhere the women are always flirting with you!”

"Apprently not." Quinn said, with a big grin. Then looked over to Enya. "Well Captain, the knight has the code."

Enya looked around for a statue of a knight. She frowned and started looking all over for a statue. “Maybe their is a chess set.”

“Or something with a knight on it,” Ameri spoke up. “Some decks of cards have knights and sometimes you see a symbol on things.”

"What should we do Captain?" Quinn asked Enya with a big grin on his face. She wanted to be in charge, so he was allowing it.

“Dad, you look through the desk,” Enya gave out orders. “Mom, check in the pockets of the clothes laying on the bed I’m gonna look at the map on the wall.”

Ameri smiled and headed over. Enya was taking charge like a trooper.

"Aye captain." Quinn said, as he walked over to the desk. He started to look through the desk, and noticed a small knight in the drawer. "I found something Captain." He said, with a big grin on his face.

Enya was excited. She headed over to where he was. “Do you see some numbers on it, Dad?” We gotta open the chest.”

"The chest?" Quinn asked, wondering where she came up with that conclusion. He started to study the Knight and saw the number 11 24 20 on the knight. "I have numbers 11, 24 and 20." Quinn called out.

“In the corner,” Ameri pointed out to Quinn. “It has a combination on it. Maybe the key to the door is in it.”

“Let’s open it and find out,” Enya said with a grin. She thought this was really fun.

Quinn walked over to the door and put in the combination, but a small latch from the desk popped open. He thought that was very clever. "A secret comparment within the drawer, nicely done." He said, in his best pirate inpersonation.

“I wonder what’s in it,” Enya said and she pulled it open. “There’s a key!” She grinned. “Do you think it’s to the door!”

“One of the locks anyway,” Ameri smiled. “There is one at the top as well.”

"Which to try first?" Quinn asked, as he waited for Enya to make the decision for them. Their fate was in her eyes.

“The top one looks funny,” Enya declared. “The one in the middle will be it!”

Ameri winked at Quinn. She had a feeling Enya was right.

"That's just it, how does one figure it out." Quinn said, thinking to himself, that his little girl can figure this out.

"The bottom one first," Enya said finally. "Once we get that one unlocked we can slide the bar across on the top and we're out of here!" She smiled at her Dad. "Am I right?"

"Let's find out." Quinn said, with a big grin. He loved watching her mind figure out the puzzle. She was doing a really good job.

Enya walked over and put the key in the lock and turned it. She smiled widely as she heard a click. "It's unlocked!" She gave her parents each a high five. "We are almost out of here!"

"Now the top lock,' Ameri said, loving how much fun Enya was having. She smiled over at Quinn. This had been a good idea.

Quinn watched as she unlocked the top one, and the door opened so they could escape. "Not bad, we had an excellent Captain." Quinn said, as he reached out for another high five.

"I did it!" Enya said as she high fived her Dad. And then turned to her Mom and did the same. "That was a lot of fun, wasn't it!"

"Yes," Ameri agreed with a laugh. "We couldn't have done it without you."

"We make a good team." Quinn said, with a big smile on his face. The scene starts to fade away.

Ameri loved moments like this. She was looking foward to the days they had on the station.
