Quinn just grinned as he stepped off the transporter padd with Ameri. She had asked him, what he thought of the dinner, the night before. "I thought it went pretty well." Quinn said, with his big boyish smile.

“So did I,” Ameri smiled. “They seemed to have a good time as well.” She glances over at Enya. “Anything in particular you want to look for?”

“I want a lot of things.” Enya spoke up with a smile. “Some new movies and music and maybe a dog.” She grinned. “Can I have a puppy!”

Quinn just gazed over at Enya. Then he looked over to Ameri. He thought to himself, why a puppy and why now? He was already working on trying to get more kids on the ship, now she wanted to bring animals to his ship. He was not sure if Tyler would go for that. "I will have to discuss it with the Captain." Quinn pointed out to her.

“I don’t think we need a dog right now,” Ameri spoke you. “It is a lot of responsibility and it would be yours.”

“I was joking,” Enya sighed. “Which is why I was grinning.” She thought for a moment. “And I am responsible; I do all my chores even if I don’t want to.”

"To top it off, not sure how the Captain feels about dogs. I know he loves horses." Quinn pointed out to both ladies. He was curious, what the Captain would say.

“I don’t think he would tell Enya no,” Ameri said with a smile. “He considers her a niece. Even if he said yes It would be something you and I would have to discuss.”

“A horse would be huge,” Enya spoke up. “Where would I keep it and how would it get exercise?” She smiled at her Dad, he knew she was joking.

"A horse will not happen." Quinn said, with a grin on his face. He could tell that she was teasing. She was a little smart ass, just like him.

“You offered the horse,” Enya grinned. “I only wanted a nice small dog for companionship while I am home and you two are away working long hours.”

“I am not fooled,” Ameri said with a smile. “If you want a dog then we need to discuss it first.”

"No I said, he likes horses, I do not know how he feels about dogs." Quinn pointed out to her.

“If the dog is in our quarters why would he care?” Enya asked. “I am not going to take her on the bridge.”

“We are not making this decision until your father talks to the captain,” Ameri spoke up. “And that means the dog will have to wait until another station stop.” She looked at Quinn. “Agreed?”

"This is his ship, he gets the final say on everything." Quinn pointed out to his little girl. "Someday when you are Captain, you will get to make that call." Quinn pointed out to her.

“That’s what I want,” Enya said with determination. “And I am going to do it!”

Ameri smiled at Quinn and then looked at Enya. “You are going to make a great captain one day.”

"What are you going to do exactly?" Quinn asked, with a big smile on his face. He wanted to make sure, they were both on the same page.

“I am thinking between going into engineering,” Enya replied. “Or security.”

“They are both excellent choices,” Ameri murmured. She wondered what made her choose those two.

"Both are good fields." Quinn said, with a warm smile on his face. He personally wanted her to go into engineering. A safer career option, and the less he would have to worry as a parent.

“My problem is which one,” Enya said. “They both sound like something I would like to do.” She looked at her parents. “How did you know?”

"High School helps prepare you for future studies." Quinn pointed out to her. Then he went on. "I could see about putting you into the STEM program." Quinn suggested to Enya and Ameri.

“That might be a good idea,” Ameri said in agreement. “It would help you with your decision.”

Enya looked at them and smiled. “Okay, see what you can do Dad.” She sighed. “There are so many choices and I am only nine but I want to know what I am going to do...now!

"Wait your nine?" Quinn asked playfully, then he went on. "I thought by now you were at least 14." He said in a teasing voice.

Enya rolled her eyes. “Funny, Dad!” She giggled then. “Just come by my room when I am jumping on the bed!”

“Or maybe you shouldn’t be doing that,” Ameri spoke up.

“It’s a kid thing,” Enya grinned. “Blame Dad, he started it back when I was like five!”

"You do that too? I thought it was just me that jumps on the bed." He said in a sarcastic tone. Then smiled over at Ameri.

Ameri shook her head and laughed softly. “You are like twins! Same sense of humor!”

Enya grinned. She liked being like her Dad. He was funny and always made her feel better, even when she wasn’t getting her way. “Hey! Can I go in that store!” She pointed. “I want some candy, please!”

"Not sure if Enya should be congratulated or insulted by that comment." Quinn said, as he winked over to Enya.

“It was a compliment,” Ameri said with a laugh. Now if she is incorrigible like you then that is a problem.”

"incorrigible, trying to use words she wont understand?" Quinn asked with a teasing grin on his face.

“Good point,” She looked at Enya. “It means your dad purposely likes to get others going just to see them react.”

Enya grinned. “I love that, like when he does it to you because you take it serious.”

"Do I now?" Quinn suggested with a sarcastic and teasing grin on his face. She totally pegged him, not that he minded.

“You know you do,” Ameri laughed softly. “Just wait when Enya starts doing it.”

“Me?” Enya grinned. “I don’t think I can outdo Dad!”

"I see what you mean, she is already trying the false sense of hope flattery approach." Quinn said, with a wink in his eye towards Ameri this time.

"She is rather good too," Ameri picked up where Quinn left off. "Next she will be flattering you with other pretty words." She looked at Enya. "What is it you want?"

Enya looked from her Dad to her Mom. Was she serious? "I'm not after anything, are you teasing me!"

"Hear that, Quinn," Ameri kept a straight face. "She changed her mind. She doesn't want anything, no trip to that candy store"

"I heard that too. I am surprised with how fast she is growing up. Being all mature and responsible. To pass up candy, is a very grown up thing to do." Quinn suggested to Ameri. His tone was a little patronizing, with a hint of sarcasm.

"No," Enya shook her head. "I want some candy. Who knows when we will stop again!" She looked at them. "I'm a kid, we want candy!"

"First you want candy," Ameri sighed. "Then you don't and now you do." She looked at Quinn and winked. "Do you think she knows what she wants?"

"Evidence does suggest, that she is uncertain what she wants, perhaps we should decide for her. After all we are her legal guardians." Quinn suggested with a big grin on his face.

“I agree with you, Quinn,” Ameri said with a smile. “It is our responsibility to make the hard choices.” She looked over at the candy store. “I don’t know if you really need candy.” She winked at her husband.

“I do,” Enya spoke up. “Think of when you were my age, I know it was a long long time ago but you have to remember candy.” She smiled at them, waiting for one of them to take the bait about them being old.

"Candy, oh ya I know her. We went to the academy together." Quinn said in a teasing voice. Ironically there was a girl named Candy, he went to the academy with.

Ameri laughed, she couldn’t help herself. “There were a lot of eyes on that Candy I bet.”

Enya looked at them and frowned. “So, can I pick some out? I will share with you.”

"I don't want Candy, I have your mother. She is sweet enough for me." Quinn said with a big sappy tone of love in his voice.

“Yuck!” Enya declared. “I am talking about candy you eat like, caramels, red licorice, dum dums and gummy bears.”

Ameri smiled. “So she wants us to buy her something that will rot her teeth.”

"Sounds like it to me." Quinn suggested, then looking at the gummy bears. As soon as he saw them, he started to gravitate over to them.

Enya grinned. She had her Dad going now, they both loved gummy bears. “Look! They have snakes too!”

Ameri just smiled at them. It was a lost cause now, they would be going home with candy.

Quinn winked at Enya. "Just a couple." Quinn whispered as the scene starts to fade away.

Enya grinned as she grabbed a bad and put some in. Glancing over she saw her mom getting some peach rings. They were going to be stocked up for a while. She winked back at her Dad. She loved her parents.
