Mission: Episode 10 - New Home, Same Pioneers
Location: Security Chief's Office - Deck 9 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD004 1200 hrs

Commander Myles was reading a rather exciting witness report of a gamma shift SO who was looking for advancement. He was just about to call the officer in question when his door chime went off.

"Enter." He said.

Lan walked through the parting doors with her hands behind her back. "Commander Myles," She said in an almost monotone tone. "I am Chief Petty Officer Phuong Lan Nguyen, your new Master at Arms. Reporting for duty."

"At ease, Chief." Larim said. "Welcome to the Pioneer. Take a seat?"

Lan walked to the chair and sat down. She nodded to Larim. "Thank you, sir."

"Can I get you anything?" He asked.

Lan looked to his desk a moment. "I would like some tea please," She finally said. She hadn't thought about drinking anything after coming on board. This would be her first drink.

Larim replicated the tea and handed it to his guest

He took a quick minute to bring up her file. And he liked it, a lot. Fitting for a command chief. He nodded. "Impressive record, Command chief. Somehow simple "Chief" doesn't cut it."

Lan took the tea and shrugged at the remark the commander made. "Chief will do, sir. A rank is just there to indicate our positions toward each other. But thank you for the compliment." She added that last bit. She knew that Betazoids could be more emotional about those things than humans.

"Ok, Chief it is. Feel free to think of a nickname other than "Commander " or "sir" I find a certain degree of familiarity makes the job easier." Larim said.

This was unexpected and to her somewhat inappropriate. But since he was her superior in this she has to obey. "Very well, but I must warn you, I have never done this before. This nicknaming. Maybe you would do better if you tell me what you find comfortable."

"Logical response. You pass the test...that I just came up with on the fly.' He said. "Although, what I said about familiarity holds. Encourage the team to get to know each other. But yeah. Respect ranks and everything. " he said. "Did that make sense?

Lan raised an eyebrow. Was the security chief nervous to talk to her. "Honestly, sir, that did not make sense at all. But if I had to decipher what you just said. You want us to feel comfortable with you. Even when we call you sir, or commander. Correct me if I am wrong?"

"That's exactly right. Oh, and I apologize. I'm not normally this awkward, Chief." Larim said.

"You are the department head, if I were more human, I should be more nervous of you. Not the other way around." She just tilted her head. She then changed the subject. "I heard my sister Nhi is here. How is she doing?"

"She's doing well chief.." Larim said, anxious to get this back on track.. "Doing a great job." Thanks for that.. he thought to himself.

"That is good to hear," She gave a nod to him. "Is there something I need to know about the armory before I take the reigns? I am a weapon specialist, so I know my way around weapons pretty well."

"That's great to hear." Larim said. "You'd be a big help to Captain Tremble too. He runs the Marines around here." Larim began. "Actually before you arrived I was going to update security on the weapons lockers throughout the ship so you're insight would prove valuable."

Lan nodded. "I'll be sure to meet up with Captain Tremble. And I do what I can. Maybe after this you should show me around. This is my first time on an intrepid class. But I have familiarized myself with the specifications of course and I read myself in to the weapons you use."

"Well, I was going to go check the lockers. Why dobt you join me? We can discuss the updates on the way." Larim offered
