Mission: Episode 9 - Empok's End
Location: Holodeck 2 - Deck 5 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD002 0530 hrs

Neil had made time to hit the gym. Coming off of the training exercise, he’d felt the need to bleed off some of the stress. The problem with wearing the EAS suits was that you didn’t need much muscle to move the things. But training your brain for that took some doing and subconsciously, the marine still found himself fighting the system

It made for a tiring exercise to wearing it. Hopefully with time, his body would learn. So, he’d fired up Mik’s gym and the old man had put him through the wringer.

Neil was working a speed bag when he heard the holodeck’s hatch cycle and he paused, stepping back with sweat beading down his face.

Nhi stood near the door and looked a little frozen. "Well, I didn't expect to see you here, sir. Well, I don't mean to disturb you, I can go, but I am hoping you don't mind sharing the program. I really need to train my core. This..." She waved her arms as she was showing her body. "...doesn't happen naturally, you know." She then giggled. "Ok maybe it does, but still..." She wasn't in her usual security yellow uniform. Instead she was wearing a blue top and blue trainer trousers. And white sneakers to really finish the job. Her outfit did leave a lot for the imagination as she was really showing off all her nice proportioned curves. An her hair, usually tied up in a knot was now in a pony tail and fell down like a black waterfall just past her hips.

From his shadowy lurking place near one of the pillars, an older man wearing simple grey working attire and a watch cap emerged and said, "This is my place, not his. I'm Mik, little lady. What can we do for you? I don't see much wrong with your form. Everything looks like it's in the right place..." Mik gave her a ghost of a wink, his eyes twinkling and mouth drawn up in a smile.

Neil shook his head as he grabbed a towel from a nearby hook, wiped his face with it and let it hang about his shoulders. "Mik,.." he started before the hologram stopped him.

"Mik nothing," the old man scowled toward the marine. "Who called time on you and that speed bag? You're getting soft because of things like this, Samson."

Nhi raised her eyebrow, that was one of the moments she really looked like a Vulcan. She crossed her arms as she walked over to the two old people squabbling. "So the Marine captain is getting soft when a girl walks into the room." She turned to the hologram Mik. "Hi, I am Nhi, Hoa Nhi. It's a flower in Vietnamese."

"You have no idea how many girls walk in here, miss," the old man confided. "And it's very nice to meet you Nhi. You certainly appear flower like my dear. I could put you on my desk and enjoy the beauty all day long," he proclaimed. "And I wouldn't say soft so much...probably the opposite since he seems to not be getting his workout time in."

Glancing toward Neil he gave Nhi a half leer and said, "If you catch my meaning."

Nhi grinned and nodded. "Well then, Captain, why don't you come on the mat with me. It's been a while since I had a sparring partner your height and weight. Unless you are die hard like me and we get on the stone floor. If you know how to fall and roll you won't break any bones no matter how hard the floor is. Something my father used to tell me when he trained me. He is a master in the Vietnamese Martial arts Vovinam." She stood next to the mat. "Wanna give it a try, or are you afraid I distract you, sir?"

Neil sighed dramatically and glanced at Mik. "Why is it every female that comes in here wants to kick my..."

Mik cut him off with a yelp and a scowl, "There's a lady present, youngster. Mind your manners!"

Then the old man smirked and said, "And to be fair, most of them wanted to do more than punch your face in."

Neil grunted at him then focused on Nhi. "We can dispense with the formalities in the Gym, Nhi, call me Neil." He let his eyes roam over her as he finished toweling off and chucked the town toward a laundry bag, "And sure, some sparring is fine and we can avoid the ring and spar on the mats," he said gesturing toward a section of the gym that was approximately 10 meters square with a simple mat upon the floor."

The marine walked toward the area and pulled off the gloves he'd been working the speed bag with, leaving his taped up hands. "Need to warm up some?" he asked the security officer as he bounced up and down on the balls of his feet.

Nhi started to some stretches, and even stretched herself in a split. She then took off her sneakers and started to do some warming up exercises, ending up jumping and then walked to Neil. "Of course, my father told me, it's always important to warm up." she then made a half bow with her right hand on her heart. "And it's polite to greet."

Neil had a suspicion he was being had, but he mired the security officer's actions. Placing his right hand over his heart, he bowed then dropped into a ready stance. "Sounds like your father told and showed you a great many things."

Nhi also took a ready stance too. "Yes, my father is a wise man. He is a master in Vovinam. I honor him by following his wisdom." She smiled shortly. As he seemed to take the waiting side, she thought she could may as well make the first move. Trying to distract him she quickly evaded, making her end up beside him and attacked his flank. She wasn't sure how he would respond. But she had to be ready to evade his defense.

Neil watched the security officer warily. She was quick and had speed. When she moved to his flank and attacked, he pivoted and went with a hard block, using his mass to his advantage. Instead of falling back, he went for a leg sweep.

Nhi felt the legs being swept from under her, she could feel herself losing balance. But she was trained, so instinctively she dropped sideways on the mat and rolled away and got back on all fours. And then almost as a dance she got back on her feet. She smiled. "Well, Neil, that was pretty good, but is it good enough." She could tell he was waiting for her to make a move again.

"Fine..." She whispered as she wound her around her head and put some clips on it to hold it down. "It looks like I am going to work up a bit of a sweat with you then." She charged forward and made some quick moves around him to distract him. It would give her some time to work on her next move. He was too big to take down on her own, and besides man this side need to be taken down by using their own weight, but Neil wasn't just any man, he was a trained marine. He most likely would know her every move. And just like her, he had to figure out a way to get her down, her being small and light on her feet.

That's it, She thought. She lunged forward and then she jumped up, making a salto above him bouncing her hands on his shoulders and then making a perfect landing on his back. She knew the surprise would surely unbalance him. She was now sitting on his back.

Neil wasn't quite caught flat footed, but he still ended up with his face to the mat. Biting back something in Klingon, he did half a pushup, then ducked his left shoulder under his torso and twisted violently into a death roll, trying to twist inside of her grasp and move to a mount position where he was not at such a disadvantage.

She couldn't take on his full force of this death role, so Nhi rolled along with him, which basically caught herself under him. She cursed in Vietnamese and then sighed. "You win, sir, I don't think I can't get quite out of here without do a whole lot of damage to your delicates. And this is a sparring session anyways." She hit the mat.

When Nhi tagged out, Neil slid off of her and moved to a kneeling position a couple of feet away. "I do appreciate you taking it easy on my delicates," he chuckled. "Others have not been so kind and I usually end up visiting sickbay."

From the corner, Mik snorted and didn't say anything.

Nhi also got up, with greater ease and agility of course. She however took a kneeling position on one knee. Keeping in that position for a few second she got up and then bowed the way she did before. "Vovinam is a martial arts mainly to use in self defence. This is why we greet with our right hand over out heart, as a promise. And a reminder to the user of the art. I wouldn't hurt you as we are merely sparring, that is against my code, sir." She explained.

"Well thank you for the session and the education," Neil said. "You're more than welcome to use Mik's place here to train whenever you like. Just watch out for the old bugger."

"Hey," Mik said, scowling toward Neil as he approached them and offered a towel to the security officer. "Don't listen to him," the hologram assured Nhi. "Not about the being welcome part. That part is very true. Now, can I show you the shower area?"

Now it was Neil's turn to snort as he went back to his bag and pulled out a jump rope. He still had forty minutes before reporting for duty...
