Mission:
The Drumhead (Empok Nor Premier)
Location: Operations Office
Timeline: MD002 0830 hrs
Nassie was starting to finally feel at home on Empok Nor. The Cardassian station, took a little getting used too. But everything seemed straight forward. Which she liked. She was on her way, to check in with her department head. She was heading up to meet Lt Commander Dara Jax. She really did not know alot about her.
Dax's shift started at 0700 this morning with a call from an angry, or more so annoying, Ferengi that his holodeck suite was malfunctioning shortly after a rowdy bunch of Nausiccans left. It was almost shocking that the mild mannered species had left it in such disarray, also her thoughts were purely sarcastic. Quickly assessing the damage she told the Ferengi it wasn't a priority, purely just to make him squirm. She took great joy in tormenting him, but she was sure it was mutual.
She had decided to return to her office to a quick report write up from the previous day unaware of the surprise to come.
Nassie was standing outside the door, did Jax notice her at first? She did seem distracted. Nassie tapped on the intercom for the office of Commander Jax. She hoped the Commander was in a good mood.
Looking up as the sound filled her ears she smiled. "Come in." was the traditional reply, one she'd said many times and would do so again. In stepped a young woman in yellow, naturally her own mind went to engineering/operations but that was her bias. "Ensign..." She began noticing the pip on her collar. "What can I do for you?" she asked gesturing for her to come in further and take a seat if she wanted.
Nassie walked over to the desk, she thought about having a seat. Instead, she handed her a pad. It was her orders to report to Empok Nor. "Ensign Nassie Essu, reporting for duty." She called out in a big grin on her face. It was hard for her, to hide her enthusiasm.
"Ah, you must be my newbie." Dara said smiling whilst receiving the pad. "Welcome to Empok Nor, and please take a seat."
Continuing to read the PADD she smiled, "I've noticed you are not the only Essu to arrive here recently too. Lt. Essu any relation?" she asked.
Nassie had no idea, that Elloma was on the station. She heard, that the Pioneer was found. Which made her felt a sense of relief. But she was not sure, that she was ready to see her sister. So that begged the question. What was Elloma doing on the station. "My sister." She simply said, hoping to move on. She changed the topic. "I am eager to get started, when can I start Sir?" She asked.
Dara nodded, it was a simple enough reply even if she could feel the young woman pressing her to move on. "As far as I'm concerned Ensign you can start right now. I have a crew needing someone to head it up if you are interested? There is a power flow problem in one of the upper pylons. Unfortunately it is connected to a Cardassian freighter and we cannot uncouple it until the problem is resolved. So, feeling up to that?" she asked.
"Yes ma'am, absolutely ready to assist." Nassie said. This would be her big chance, to prove she was a capable officer, and operations officer. Not another boot, they have to train. She was eager and ready to go. She was already trying come up with solutions, to the current situation, in her mind.
"Well then." Dara said standing and thumbing the padd. "Consider yourself 'started' and in charge of the repair team, Ensign. Show me what you got!" She said with a smile as she passed the PADD back to her. Some background info on her team was on there, the problem as it stood and how to get there. The station could be confusing at times, even for Dara.
"Will get started on it right away." Nassie said, as she took the data pad from Dara. She snapped to the position of attention. Awaiting to be dismissed. She was eager to meet the team.
"I am sure you will do me proud, Ensign. You are dismissed, and good luck." Dara replied smiling at the young woman who was so eager to get out the door to work she noted her slight stepping back. She would be a good fit on Empok Nor, of that Dara was sure... Jax agreed also.
