Mission: Episode 7 - Home Again
Location: Sick Bay - Deck 5 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD011 0200 hrs

Tallida was exhausted. She had been picking up extra shifts in medical and it was starting to take its toll. She was sitting in sickbay her head tipped back with her arm across her chest as she willed no one to bother her so she could take a nap. She didn't sleep well with out medical intervention and after seeing the affect they had had on Neil she was turned off to the idea. She was contently sitting when a voice sounded out. Her eyes instantly popped up at the familiarity of that voice.

Officially he was allowed access to the Pioneer in order to learn about Azzian physiology and medical practices. The idea was that perhaps he could adapt them for use in the Federation. However, Kalen Jacobs jumped at the idea to come aboard the Pioneer. If for no other reason than to check up on an old friend. He found her in Sick Bay. "Oh gracious me will wonders never cease. Lolly as I live and breathe." His voice dripped of sarcasm.

Talli practically toppled her chair as she pushed to her feet and practically ran across the bay. Before she could think of how weird her behavior would be taken by her fellow crew members her arms were wrapping around his neck and she was straining on her tip toes as she let out a giggle. She pulled back from the hug and couldn't resist and kissed him. When the kiss ended she cleared her throat. "You know I hate that name."

He took the kiss and returned it and when the kiss broke his trademark smirk was upon his face. "But the way you wrinkle you nose at the name is beyond cute. This is one hell of a ship you have here. Ship's Counselor... Impressive..." His words sounded impressive but the tone of his voice was more teasing than impressed. He knew she was smart, smarter than this mundane position gave her credit for.

"Wow, thank Kal." She replied returning his sarcasm. "Tell me how you really feel." She had no doubt that he would. "What the hell are you doing here? I thought you were still on Anarax nine." she asked with a laugh.

"Well it seems that Starfleet Medical has some ideas for my antibody program. They want me to work with your Chief Medical Officer, a Dr Ballston for a bit. It seems that his people have some interesting ways of curing the incurable and they want to see if I can adapt the techniques for use in the Federation. I would ask you something similar what the hell brings you way out here to the Trivas System. I mean Cardie space. Last I checked you were CMO of the Yorktown, isn't this..." His voice trailed off to indicate that her current job was sort of a demotion.

"Yeah well," She started with a shrug turning from him so he wouldn't see the woundedness she felt. "Shit happens and it didn't work out." She looked around the medical bay. "Besides, I still run my own department and I didn't specialize in clinical psychology."

Kalen laughed "Your Captain must be out of his mind. To choose someone with zero clinical psych experience to run his counseling department. Makes me want to rethink my presence on this ship." He started to walk a circuit of the nearly empty Sick Bay. "You know Azzian medicine isn't the only reason that I came here."

"Oh yeah?" Tallida asked sarcastically as she turned to watched him. "Some new skirt catch your eye?" She couldn't help but laugh. Kalen was nothing is not easily swayed by a pretty face.

"No an old skirt caught me eye..." He looked at her and let his eyes bore into her soul.

Tallida looked at him with a confused look on her face. It wasn't until she met eyes with him that she got any idea as to what he meant. "What? Why?" She said softly, meeker than normal.

"Suffice to say that I have missed you. So what do you say to a late night meal? We can make it nice and public like in the mess hall. This way you know nothing will happen or you can come to my quarters and everything will happen." He winked at her. Kalen was unsure if it was the memory of the time they shared when they were younger, or it were actual feelings. Either way though he wanted her, the question was did she want him.

Tallida watched him. She would be lying if she said his desire for her didn't thrill her, but she was hesitant. She had been crushed when he had left. When he had told her she was too young, that he was too young and that there was a whole galaxy to see. "Mess hall, 1800 hours." She responded finally.

"I will be there, and you should remember one thing. Time changes a lot of things especially age." He wasn't sure what the future would hold but he knew that he had hurt her all those years ago. He would have to make amends for that if he chose to have any relationship with Tallida. He wondered if she would allow him.

Tallida nodded and watched him turn and leave sickbay. A smirk crossed her lips at her excitement of having dinner with him. It wasn't until her thoughts turned to Neil that her smile faltered. This posting just got so much more complicated.
