Mission: Episode 7 - Home Again
Location: Sickbay - Deck 5 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD006 0930 Hours

Ingrid exited the turbolift onto deck 5, giving a wink to a passing crewman as she stepped out and into the corridor. This was a moment she had been anticipating with nervous energy since she'd returned from her year of hell. She hadn't been brave enough to go to the Infirmary on Empok Nor, but she knew she couldn't wait any longer while stationed aboard Pioneer; not to mention, the suspense was starting to get to her. She'd made an appointment with the CMO for a check up and she hoped with all her might it would uneventful and positive.

The doors to the Sickbay parted and Ingrid sauntered in dressed in her duty uniform. She looked around for only a split second before she located the man in charge. He was a man who seemed strong and interesting, but perhaps that was just the fact that she found him attractive. He was very fit and handsome, and for a moment, she forgotten her anxiety for the appointment. Almost as quickly as it started, however, the anxiety returned.

"Dr. Ballston?" she asked tentatively, an uncharacteristic meekness in her tone. "I'm here for my appointment."

"Right on time Lieutenant," Richard said as he walked towards the woman. He wore a broad smile as he approached and nodded, "welcome to the Pioneer." He motioned towards the biobeds and nodded, "shall we begin, you may use any of the beds you like."

She walked over and lifted herself up onto the nearest biobed, allowing her legs to swing wildly as she made contact with the bed. She looked at the approaching man with furrowed brows.

"You may have heard about my year..." she said, referencing her captivity. "Let's just say I'm long overdue for a check-up."

Richard's smile faded as he nodded in understanding, "I have heard Lieutenant." He took in a deep breath, "I am sorry those thins happened to you and I quite understand your apprehension." "I've had my own experiences and will do my best to make sure you are comfortable with any I do."

He reached for his tricorder, "this is my tricorder, it's different from any other because of my learning disability so please don't be alarmed by the beeps and chirps it makes."

"Ehm, okay" she said innocently as the man grabbed his device. "As long as you're not secretly an angry Cardassian guard with wandering hands, I'm perfectly comfortable," she said, lying, but doing so very convincingly. She'd had lots of practice.

"That," Richard said with a chuckle, "I won't have any trouble with."

As Ballston had mentioned the tricorder made chirps and beeps uncommon to most of the medical staff's equipment. He studied the visual image created on the display behind the bed and nodded, "you appear to be in excellent health Lieutenant," he smiled at her as he stepped away, "you might want to drink a little more water but you're fit for duty."

"You...you sure?" she asked, a quizzical expression on her face. She'd hoped it sws nothing but she was quietly expecting some bad news. She waited for him as if he would give her a different answer the second time around.

Richard chuckled, "you're just a little dehydrated, it's not serious." He smiled at her and nodded, "just have a glass of water and you'll be fine."

"Ohhkay." she said, a bit elongated as she pulled herself down off the bed. A wave of relief washed over her and she allowed herself to relax. "Can I...go then?"

The physician chuckled, "You certainly can Lieutenant." He shook his head, "I didn't intend to cause such a problem."

"You've been a doll, Doctor." she said with a smile. "Honestly, I could kiss you."

She offered a single wave of her hand as she walked briskly toward the door. "Take care now!"
