Mission: Episode 7 - Home Again
Location: XO Ready Room

"Commander Malbrooke, please have a seat." Quinn said, wondering what happened to his down time with his family. Work always seemed to call, even when on shore leave. The life of a Starfleet First Officer.

"Thank you, commander," Kat said, nodding to Quinn as she sat down across from his desk.

"It's good to see you again." Quinn started to say, he was easing into the conversation. "I was reviewing your service record, and I was noticing your extensive background in computer systems, seems like you are the resident expert in this area of space." He said, buttering up to her.

"I like computers," she said, amused by the flattery. She wasn't the resident expert, but she was honest enough to admit that she was good. With Tyler gone so much, she had a lot more time on her hands and put it to good use. She leaned forward. "What are you angling for?"

"I want to recruit you, for a special project I am working on. It would require you to transfer to the USS Pioneer, are you interested?" Quinn said, hoping that peaked her interest. He purposely gave her a vague response. Not till she agreed, he was not going to divulge sensitive information.

A slow smile spread across her face. "I would love to transfer to the Pioneer." She'd spent enough time away from her husband and this was the perfect opportunity to remedy that. "What sort of project?"

"What do you know of the one year time gap from the Pioneer?" Quinn asked Kat, wondering how much he needed to fill her in on?

She sat back and considered his words. "Tyler hasn't said much, but I know that different people were in different realities and the ship was active for that period of time, but that's about it."

"That is true for the crew. But it appears the USS Pioneer, went on an adventure of her own. Someone has gone through great links, to cover it up. We have found pieces, and trying to patch it all up."

"Adventures of her own?" That both intrigued and appalled Kat. How must Ty be feeling about that? "And that's your special project?"

"Well our special project. The ship was not idle for over a year. There is a lot of data, to support mass deletion. And wear and tear on the warp core suggest space travel. Plus damage to the manifolds. I could keep going on. But needless to say, Tyler and I want answers. What happened to our ship?" Quinn said, hoping Kat was on board helping him and Tyler out.

Kat nodded. "I don't blame you. That's a lot of wear and tear. So, you want me to help with this?"

"Your an engineer, and you can help confirm, and hopefully recover or determine, where this ship went. She put on a lot of space miles, for a ship that was suppose to be idle." Quinn said, waiting to see what she said next.

Kat nodded. "All right. Where do you want me to start?"

"Review all the logs from engineering. Attempt to recreate the deleted files. The evidence suggest, they have been tampered with. Can you do that for me?" Quinn asked, he needed a woman of her talents and skills.

"I'd love to. Who else are you working with?"

"Lieutenant Essu, Warrant Officer Jayna and Chief Calhoun." Quinn said. He had no reason to with hold the names, now that she joined the team. "Coordinate with them, and lets see if we can crack this mystery open. Each member of the team is playing a vital role. I know you are one of the missing keys we need to solve this." Quinn said with a big grin on his face.

Kat nodded, grinning. "Thank you. I look forward to the opportunity." He had no idea how much this meant to her, being on the Pioneer full-time with Ty.
