"Have a seat Ensign." Quinn said Jayden, as he took a small sip from his coffee. He was a little grouchy, after being woken up by his wife last night. She woke him up, to advise him of the altercation between Dana Wakefield, Jayden Robertson and his wife. And how unprofessional it was.

Jayden sat down. This was it, he was being transferred, kicked off the station. Or worse, was he being fired? He looked at Commander O’Flannagain and swallowed the lump in his throat. The man looked unhappy.

"Relax Ensign, you seem very tense." Quinn said, as he took a small sip from his coffee. He did not want Jayden to tense up. All Quinn wanted, was to get to the bottom, of this scenario. What happened last night, and how can he make sure it does not happen again.

“I am,” Jayden replied honestly. “An ensign just assigned doesn’t normally end up across from the executive officer unless it is good news or bad news.”

"I'm here to find out what happened last night on the bridge." Quinn started to say, watching for facial cues from Jayden to see how he was going to respond.

Jayden’s eyes widened. “Is that a trick question? I don’t want a reputation for complaining about my boss. It wasn’t Lt JG O’Flannigain’s fault either. My first shift on the bridge and it didn’t go well but it won’t happen again. I am there to do my job.”

"I am here to get to the bottom of this situation, Ensign. I respect the fact, you want to make a good impression. No one thinks you are complaining to your boss, about what happened last night. I am asking you, what happened. What am I missing Ensign?" Quinn said, being a little authoritative in his voice, to get the ensign to get aboard with his plan, which was, to get to the truth. The video only showed what happened on the bridge, but was there more to this story?

“Just the bridge shift or the meeting after?” Jayden replied. “And do I have permission to speak openly?”

"I want to know about both, and yes, but do not push your luck on speaking openly." Quinn said, he wanted to make sure he kept some calmness to the meeting. A good leader, allowed his or her people to vent. He or she allowed them to lead the topic, Quinn's job would be guide the topic. And to get to the bottom of the root issue.

“I was given a bridge shift which I admit was a relief from spending my days on the holodeck,” Jayden said quietly. “About two hours into work and Lieutenant JG O’Flannagain comes on to relieve and stops to talk for a minute or two. Don’t quote me on that I wasn’t timing us.” He took a moment to collect his thoughts. “The lift opens and Lieutenant Wakefield comes off with fire in her eyes. I knew the minute she looked at me I was the object of her anger but I didn’t have a clue why, I hadn’t even met her yet.”

"It's typical to meet your commanding officer, prior to starting work. Why was this not done?" Quinn asked, being a little surprised that Lieutenant Wakefield, did not meet with Jayden prior to the event.

“I don’t know, Commander,” Jayden replied. “I had my initial meet with Lieutenant Michael. Maybe there was a conflict or something.” He paused then continued. “She asked what I had done and I told her and she informed me that She demanded a better ratio which I replied I would make sure to always do. For a moment she seemed pleased, but then she made a comment about me transferring to science if I wasn’t happy where I was or something close to that. She looked over at Ame... Lieutenant O’Flannagain and made a comment about her not having enough work. I can’t really say for certain I was too consumed with getting Operations diagnostics exactly on point. From there she sent me some work to do with instructions to complete before I left and to not be late for a morning meeting. It wan’t until then that I knew what her issue was with me.”

"I see, I will have a talk with Lieutenant Wakefield, until I do. Continue on with the instructions she gave you." Quinn said, not wanting to counteract her orders. They did seem out of place, but he wondered, if there was something missing from this story, he told.

“I will Commander,” Jayden replied. “Did you still want to know about the meeting or am I dismissed?” He wasn’t about to volunteer anyrhing.”

"Please go on." Quinn said, as he waited for the young ensign to continue on. He was curious to learn, all that he could, before confronting Dana.

“No offense, Commander but she ripped us all a new one,” Jayden returned. “I made it to the meeting with a minute to spare but her rule is to be early not on time. Then, she kicked everyone out but me and Lieutenant Michael. Once they were gone she let me have it for dating Michael’s ex. She said that wr acted disgracefully,” he frowned thinking. “No, I think we were an embarrassment to our uniforms, that I am the talk of the ship and my understanding is I am supposed to hide our relationship from everyone or suffer the consequences.” Jayden looked him directly in the eyes. “I am going to be honest here, I was honored and excited to be assigned here. You all have such a high reputation but I am disappointed that I am expected to not have a private life. Sir.”

"I will look into this matter, you are right, your personal life is no business of Starfleet, as long as it does not interfere with your duties as a Starfleet Officer." Quinn said, as he looked over to Jayden, to make sure he knew this.

“That is how I understand it as well but thank you for confirming it, Sir,” Jayden replied. “It is not in my nature to complain. I will do my best to have a good working relationship with Everyone.

"Will talk again, Ensign, for the moment you are dismissed. After I have a chance to talk to your commanding officer, will meet up later on. Okay?" Quinn said, hoping that Jayden did not take offense, that he was cutting the meeting short. He wanted to prepare for Dana.

“Thank you, Commander,” Jayden smiled for the first time since he came in there. “I appreciate you listening.”

"Dismissed." Quinn said, as the scene starts to fade. He was already thinking on what to say to Dana.
