Mission: Episode 7 - Home Again
Location: Bridge
Timeline: MD005 1500 hrs

Ingrid waited in the turbolift, her arms crossed under her chest and her face frozen in a stoical expression. Normally she would be full of excitement with a new assignment, but this posting seemed quite dreary indeed. Not for any quality of the ship and crew did she feel the desire to run in the opposite direction, but because she herself was so lost and broken. She would leave if she had anywhere else to go. But now, she was a pilot; a damn good pilot.

The doors to the lift opened onto the bridge and the crewman who had been ogling her wordlessly quickly stepped out. He'd tried to be subtle, which was more than some did, but she noticed everything. It was a gift and a curse. She stepped out onto the bridge herself, admiring the Intrepid's sleek layout. Her large eyes darted around, taking in the details and faces in the room as she headed down to the next level. She ended her journey in front of the XO's chair.

"Lieutenant Ingrid Hollister reporting for duty." she said, her tone casual and her salute more charming than smart.

"Welcome to the bridge Lieutenant. I would say man your station, however this shift ends in an hour, join me at command, take my chair." Quinn said, as he waited for her to comply. He wanted to update all her credentials, and do an informal interview. On the bridge.

That was certainly an unusual request, and Ingrid arched an eyebrow. She felt that she actually might be allergic to a command chair and really didn't want to take it, but complied all the same; this wasn't a battle she needed to fight. She lowered her shapely form into the chair and folded her left leg over her right. It was every bit as comfortable as she'd imagined, but she hand't anticipated how small it would make her feel. She felt, for a moment, as if she had more power than she wanted, and it nearly made her shutter.

"Thanks for the welcome." she said, easily, as she leaned toward him, her captivating eyes scanning his features. "This is a pretty comfortable chair you have. I'm a bit jealous, I think."

"Don't get to comfortable, I will want my chair back." Quinn said, as he brought up the main console between both chairs. He inputted his credentials. "I have your file right here." He started to say, as he started to scan through it. It was pretty impressive. He quickly skimmed through it.

"I am granting you level five alpha clearance throughout the ship. That will get you into most areas of the ship, that you will need access too. There will be a few areas off limits to you. But they are off limits to most personal." Quinn said, as he started to think about the marine barracks and intelligence decks on the ship.

"So much for being trusted." she said, clearly joking. Afterward, she nodded. "I understand. As long as I have something to fly and a place to go, I have no complaints."

She considered her situation for a brief moment in silence before she spoke again. "On the Fearless, I did some martial arts training with security...as in I trained them in martial arts. I'm available for anything like that should the department need it."

"Glad to hear that, sorry you missed a chance to fly the ship on Cardassia. How many officers, let alone enlisted personal can say that. Only one comes to mind." He said, thinking he needed to put that enlisted personal up for a promotion or an award, for a text book landing.

"You landed on Cardassia?" she asked, not sure if she would have landed safely or intentionally crashed if she were in those shoes. Still, she'd never had the opportunity to actually land a starship before.

"I did not personally land on the planet, that honor went to a marine by the name of Shayla Kunadt." Quinn seeing what Ingrid was going to say about a marine landing the ship.

"Marines are normally more accustomed to landing fighters and transports. You let her fly your ship?" she asked, offering a smirk. They were either desperate or the pilot was particularly versatile. "My first assignment was aboard a marine base, you know."

"Not me, that was the Captain." Quinn said, he felt the same way as she did. Was the marine qualified? Questionable. But the important thing was, the ship landed safely. "I was on a mission, on Cardassia."

"Well, it's good to know you're not crazy, Commander." she said, playfully. She shifted her weight in his chair, trying to fill it out more completely. "You sure you don't want to trade seats?"

"I'm okay at the moment." He said with a smile, trying his best not to really answer that question.

She lifted herself out of the chair, smiling, and stepped away a bit. She felt relieved to be out of it, actually.

"I don't officially start here until 08:00 tomorrow, but I think I'll get acquainted with my office while I have time."

"Sounds like a plan. Unless you have anything you want to address, your dismissed." He said with a big grin on his face. He was always trying to figure out in his head, how to tell Enya, she would need to see the counselor.

"Catch you later, sir." She said with a casual nod. Ingrid took a cursory look at the Bridge and then set off, wordlessly, toward the turbolift.

Quinn smiled as he thought to himself, now that was a remarkable first impression. She was confident, straight to the point, and checked in a day early. He was very impressed by her.
