Mission: Episode 5 - It Would Be Their Pleasure
Location: Counselors Office
Timeline: MD002 1100 Hours

Lyna beamed over to the Pioneer from the starship that transporter her to Casperia Prime.

After having her credentials and orders verified, the security officer in the transporter room informed her that she was to report to the ship's counselor's officer upon arrival. She knew what this was about....it was in her file that she had to report to the counselor's office first thing upon arriving on any Federation starship. She went through the same thing when she boarded the starship that brought her her.

She nodded to the officer and left the transporter room, entered a turbolift and asked to be taken to the counselor's office.

Once she got off the lift, she walked over and activated the door chime and waited.

"Come in please." Amelia replied to the door chime. She had been expecting the brown haired woman since her transfer came through. Her appearance was mandatory so it came as no surprise. Still Amelia was happy to receive someone new and hopefully help in some way.

Lyna walked in and stopped and waited for the doors to close. "Ensign Auba Lyna, reporting as ordered."

"Please we don't need to be so formal in here, unless that is what is most comfortable for you?" Amelia began welcoming her in and directing her towards the seating area. "Please sit where ever you'd like." There were a number of furnishings ranging from laydown bed-like couches, normal seats, beanbags, it really was dealers choice. "Can I get you anything to drink?"

"No thank you, Doctor." She moved to a straight back chair and sat down, very stiffly. "I can save you a lot of time. I'm here because my files said that I have to report to the ship's counselor anytime I am assigned to a new ship. You're suppose to ask me about my temper...have I struck anyone lately...what am I feeling....answer: my temper is under control...no, I haven't struck anyone lately...and I'm not feeling anything." She looked at the doctor and stood. "Can I go now?"

Amelia smiled a little at the womans almost carbon copy response. "Simple answer, no. I don't work like that and don't care for the customary questions that you have been asked by lesser counsellors. Also for your next ship I wouldn't say you feel nothing, huge alarm bells for us to keep you here A LOT longer."she paused for the womans reponse which was very little. "I have two questions for you just now, why Starfleet? Why are you here?"

"Why Starfleet? My biological father is a Terran. Starfleet is full of them. As soon as I get to my quarters I plan on running a DNA search to see if my father is in Starfleet, and is on this ship. That's also why I'm here, doctor."

"That seems like a rather singular reason for joining one of the biggest institutions of the Alpha Quadrant Ensign. Surely there would have been an easier way to find your father? You can do a DNA search from Starfleet Headquarters to find him, it would list the vessel he serves on if he's still active. You also must have went through 4 yeas of the Academy, tough years of study and interaction for other reasons?" She asked looking sympathetic and trying to put her softest features on.

"Because I wanted to belong to something for once in my life!!!" Lyna responded angrily. "Starfleet is the only thing I have anymore! No real family to speak of. No one to care for me!" Lyna appeared to be close to tears. Then she regained control and smiled at the doctor.

Amelia held up her hands as the woman calmed down significantly. "I can understand why you may feel that way Ensign but I am not trying to cause you pain. I simply wish to understand the person you are. The anger, I want to help you to move past that, to alleviate some pain in your life through talk and coping mechanisms. You'll find that through exploration of the past, your feelings that you will be able to get closer to the family on this ship. That is what the Pioneer is, a family. One I'd like to see you be a part of."

"I had a family. counselor. First I have a father I know nothing about, then my mother abandons me at an orphanage, then she comes back for me and her husband tries to rape me, then my mother wants to place me in a sex house, and I run away and some nice people take me in. Family? I don't need one!"

"That sounds terrible Ensign, I am sorry you had to go through all that growing up." Amelia replied sincerely, it was a terrible thought to think that in this day and age that type of thing still occurred. Having said that though not everyone is as 'evolved' as people are led to believe. "I think as an introductory session as this is to dive deep into your past would be a mistake. When we have more time we can talk about what ever you want in more detail." Unfortunately Amelia had more appointments coming up and usually meetings such as the one taking place was a mere 10-15 minutes hello and we'll set up another appointment. This one, in just that small amount of time, had revealed a lot of information for Amelia to process and come up with something to help this woman with.
