Mission: Episode 5 - It Would Be Their Pleasure
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: MD009 0555 hrs

"When did I become the go fix it girl?" Rissie asked herself, as she walked into sickbay. The room was pretty dark. She was a little sore, and recovering from a slight hangover, when she got an early service request, to provide maintenance on the Mark IV Emergency Medical Hologram program. She stormed in tired, and a little annoyed. She took a big sip of coffee, before placing it down. "Computer activate the EMH." Ordered Rissie.

A swirl of light and energy preceded the materialization of Bones the Pioneer's EMH. The hologram with the face of one of the greatest doctors in history smiled and spoke his customized greeting. "Now, what seems to be the problem?" He reached to the tool try nonchalantly as he picked up a medical tricorder.

Still tired, and a little caffeine deprived, Rissie looked at the EMH, with a slightly annoyed look on her face. "What happened to the standard greeting?" She asked, as she grabbed a datapad, and begin to check his subroutines.

Bones' entire demeanor shifted there was nothing wrong and he had no idea why this engineer attempted to access his subroutines. "That has been my greeting since I was installed aboard the USS Pioneer. I am a Mark V and as such we are given the personalities of those who we look like. Therefore this greeting is how Leonard H McCoy the Chief Medical Officer of the USS Enterprise would greet his patients. Now, I would ask you to stop trying to change it."

"Relax Doc! You're a little sensitive, and I am not trying to change anything. Just reviewing your subroutines." Rissie, being a little annoyed the EMH was being overly sensitive. It is a program, not a person. And she had to assume, some engineer had a sense of humor, when programming the EMH mark V.

"I have experienced no issues with my program. Is there a reason for this invasion?" Bones asked as he took a couple of steps toward the EMH systems console.

"A simple maintenance upkeep, nothing to worry about Doctor." Rissie said, as she tried to ignore the fact, that the program, was starting to infringement inside her comfort zone. She tried to dismiss it. She knew the EMH's in general had a bad habit, of not respecting personal space.

"You know there was a time when engineers would be able to perform maintenance without anyone knowing that they were there. However, that was a few hundred years ago. One wonders why that process has taken a step back over the years." Bones crossed his arms in a sign of defiance.

"Are you saying, you want me to deactivate you, and complete my subroutine check, Doctor?" Rissie asked, she was a little surprise with the EMH's response. Sounded like, he did not want to be apart of the process. Then she remembered, Doctor's make the worst patients.

"No what I am saying is that much like a surgeon who if they have done their job right leaves no evidence, no scar, to show that they were ever there. An Engineer should do the same and there was a time when that was the case. A time when Montgomery Scott and people like him kept starships moving. What people sometimes seem to forget is that we can see things the same as you. If I was to have to perform surgery on you that may save your life, however you may die on the table. I am sure you would be nervous perhaps scared. It would then be my job as your doctor to try to alleviate those fears. Well you are my doctor..." He stopped speaking as he stood there in front of the console and watched her work.

"I am not preforming surgery on you doctor, just checking your systems, think of this more as a wellness check. And so far you are looking pretty healthy." Said Rissie, thinking to herself, it was adorable that a hologram was concerned about his safety.

Bones smiled "As I should be. You know you are looking a bit flushed with bags under your eyes. Have you been sleeping well? Eating enough? Would you like me to give you a check up?"

"I'm fine, was out late last night, partying it up with Amelia Zano. Wow what a great night." Rissie said, thinking back on the night she had. She then looked at the EMH. "Happy to report, clean bill of health." Said Rissie with a grin on her face.

"Well that is good to hear. I hope that you have not been partaking of any Romulan Ale during those late nights. Tell me what would it take to give me autonomy? The ability to transfer myself to the holodeck and back again." Bones asked as he had the knowledge of Voyager's Doctor within him. So why should he not be able to function the same way.

"Depends, how often is your program online for?" Asked Rissie, not trying to sound cold hearted. But if she was going to go the chief engineer with this request, she would need a solid reason and a valid one. The EMH on Voyager was needed to be a full time doctor. They had no other medical staff. This ship had a medical staff.

"It is not online too long as it is. Once more it would allow me to explore new medical procedures, and could lead to granting me access to the ship. This would allow me to assist in medical emergencies anywhere on the ship." Surely she saw that it made sense to give a being that was created for emergencies access to everywhere.

"I can submit a request to the chief engineer, and proceed from there. I believe we are done here." Rissie said, keeping that big grin on her face. She was trying her best to keep her spirits up. She started to take a big sip from her coffee. She hoped the EMH known as "Bones" understood, she would talk to the CEO about his request. She thought it was a grand gesture, to become more than what he was.

"That is all one can hope for. Thank you Ensign." Bones replied. "And remember if you ever need anything I am but a computer command away."

"I know." Rissie, as she put down the data bad, and then continued on to say. "Computer deactivate EMH. I'll talk to you soon, Doc." Rissie said, as she watched Bones vanish from her eyes.
