Mission: Episode 5 - It Would Be Their Pleasure
Location: Casperian Resort
Timeline: MD008 1825 hrs

"Sorry about any confusion Commander Malbrooke, and I appreciate your assistance in all of this." Ameri said, as she was trying to figure out the best way to say she was sorry. It was clear to Ameri, that Starfleet Command did not inform the Captain properly. For that, she felt bad. She started to walk away Quinn and Tyler. Enya was walking right next to her. Ameri was grateful, that she was able to play interference for that strange encounter they all just experienced.

Kat laughed "There is no need to apologize. You and Quinn just caught ole Tyler on a bad time. There was all that happened to him in the timestream. The fact that in this timeline his ship just hung in space empty. That alone bothers him to no end. The Pioneer is the other woman, and I know it. Then to be told that his close friend and XO did not come home. Well that broke the camel's back as it were and you walked into it. If anything it is I who should apologize to you."

"Sounds like he went through an ordeal. But Ma'am, you do not owe me an apology." She said, with a tone of humility in her voice. Yes she was annoyed, but it was understandable. What Tyler and the rest of the crew went through, she might be a little grouchy too.

Kat held up a hand, "Please there is never a need to call me Ma'am. But I would like to welcome you to our family properly. It seems that my husband is mostly angry at command for not telling him that Darf did not come home. They did not let me know that they assigned him an XO." Kat glanced over her shoulder and saw the two men as they talked. It seemed that their conversation was getting heated. "If I know my husband Quinn will make one of the best XOs." Kat offered a sympathetic smile. "So tell me. How does it feel to be doing the impossible. I mean to keep a family together and remain in the service together."

"It's cost Quinn two opportunities for command, so far they want to give him command of a small frigate or an escort. Ships not designed for families. But there is more to life than sitting in the big chair, I suppose. To be honest, it really does not appeal to me. Now stargazing, that appeals!" Said Ameri, trying to make light of the fact that Quinn had turned down two promotions. They were not on the USS Pioneer, to receive a quick promotion. They were here, to help Ameri, return to work, and to assist Tyler.

Katherine chuckled as she realized that Ameri and herself were two peas in a pod. "I am the same way. I mean I never want that chair no matter how comfortable it is. Give me an engine and a case of tools. Now that is a thing of beauty. Command has always been Tyler's dream ever since the Academy. We watched the USS Voyager return to Earth and he turned to me and told me that he would one day command an Intrepid and here we are. He is as they say living the dream, and in a way so am I. Although I wish he and I could be together more."

"Hard to believe the ordeal the Voyager crew went through, seven years lost in the delta quadrant." Said Ameri, as she wondered, how that crew, kept their sanity. They had to come to the realization, that may never make it home. Even though they did, how did they cope with it? Especially with no counselor, no real doctor. And a divided crew, that had to learn to interact as one crew.

"I agree, but in truth I have no interest in talking about Voyager. I have had so many long conversations with Tyler about it. He has some sort of fascination with Janeway and that entire crew. If you really want to get to know your Captain have a chat with him about Voyager." Katherine chuckled "If you are going to do that my suggestion would be not to call The Doc not a real Doctor."

"I will keep that in mind." Ameri chuckled, as she looked to Tyler and Quinn, and then she went on. "things seems a little tense over there. No doubt they are sizing each other up. MEN!"

"They are no doubt investigating whose is bigger if you understand my meaning. But I can tell you Tyler already likes him. Something that I learned about Tyler and his family years ago. To them arguing is an art-form. If you can hang with them in an argument then you are worth everything. At least that is how they look at the world. I know it is a little weird but it seems to work." Kat responded as she to looked back at the two men who were locked in a heated debate.

Ameri smiled as she said to Kat. "Quinn is Irish, our culture loves to debate. If the Captain, wants a debate, Quinn will be happy to oblige him." She said, thinking that the hormonally driven males, must be on cloud nine. Getting a chance to stroke their ego's and match each other up. "What about you? Are you a debater too?" Asked Ameri, thinking to herself, Kat appeared to be the dominating one, the silent but in charge type.

"Me no..." Katherine laughed. "I am more of a doer. I set out to prove people are wrong with my deeds rather than with words. How about you? I would imagine the famous Irish temper keeps you on your toes."

"A little of both, I do love a good debate. But there are times, when a debate is counter productive, in those cases. I would make a stance, and push that agenda. To be honest." Ameri said, hoping that answered Kat's question.

"That's how I am with Tyler. I usually try to make him think that my agenda was his idea. Things seem to go over better that way." Kat chuckled.

"Yes it is, you should join the Pioneer's crew. I think I would like to have a friend like you around on a regular basis." Pointed out Ameri with a big grin on her face. She was not sure why Tyler and Kat lived apart, but this was her nice way of asking.

"Perhaps in time. Right now I am happy on my station. Tyler and I have always been the type of officers that put the fleet first. As such right now the fleet needs him on the bridge of the Pioneer, and me working to keep Empok Nor from falling apart. The Cardassians did not build that thing to last." Kat laughed at her joke. She felt the kinship growing with Ameri and perhaps the two of them would forge a strong bond as their husbands would.

"I can respect that decision. But if I may, make the most of this down time then. Moments like this with your loved ones, are a rare commodity." Suggested Ameri, feeling a little sad that Kat and Tyler decided to put duty above love and family. But that was their decision to make.

"Agreed, that is why I can to Casperia instead of staying on the station. It is indeed a rare opportunity to enjoy shore leave with my husband. So, we need to enjoy it while we can." Kat looked toward Tyler wistfully. "You know if Quinn can talk him into it, the Pioneer is going to have to hire a teacher." She added as the thought of raising her own family on the Pioneer came unbidden into her mind.

"That would be nice, I thought he would ask the senior staff, to assign someone to assist Enya in each department." Suggested Ameri, with a slight smile.

"That would work, but I am not sure if Tyler would be willing to heap more work on his senior staff. But it is something that is worth asking." Kat replied.

"We can ask him in the morning. I just want to enjoy the night, Quinn promised me a stroll on the beach later tonight. Enya wanted to see the lunar rising on the planet, the sun will be setting in the next two hours. You both are welcome to join us if you want." Ameri said, as she noticed a light breeze pouring in, and dusk starting to hit the valley they were in. The artificial lights started to kick in. Keeping the resort lite up.

"That sounds nice and it would be a great way for us to get to know each other." Kat spoke as she looked at the two men in the distance. It seemed that they had cooled down and now even smiling. "Well it seems that the two have come to some sort of understanding. Let's go gather up the men." She added with a chuckle.
