Mission: Episode 5 - It Would Be Their Pleasure
Location: After 11
Timeline: MD001 0700 hrs

Jenn walked into the ship's bar and got herself a drink. She sat down on a bar stool and looked at the drink. It was a scotch. She kept trying to drink it in hopes she would like it. She wanted to be able to drink with Billy when they would drink. Right about now she would want to talk with someone. Talk about Billy and all the other mundane stuff. But Heidy was gone, and the Cardassian she knew as Jati, was from a dream and if she had to believe those dreams, was dead. Died with the crew of an alternate Pioneer. It was all getting hazier by the minute.

Loving the SCIF so much, she spent a lot of time there. She didn't hang out with people that much. And other then Billy, Beckett and recently Larim, she didn't have many female friends, she actually had none apart from Heidy and Jati were the only ones. She didn't fancy herself hanging out with Ensign Essu, who by the way tried to get her back on the case of the dead crewman they were working on before the whole blackout. She didn't feel quite in the mood being ordered around by the spotted version of Miss universe. Ensign Essu reminded her a lot of her sister, even though her sister wasn't as cocky as the Ensign.

She looked to the glass she took little sips from. The glass wasn't empty yet and she still wasn't quite fond of it yet. She put the glass down and asked for a Martini. She needed something sweeter after that.

Social situations were new to Dana, after all, she didn't have her security escort and the room didn't go quiet when she walked in, after all, no one apart from the Captain knew who she really was so it made a refreshing change to actually be able to let her hair down and be herself and she certainly wanted nothing more than to expand her circle of acquaintances.

Over the years she had picked up on how to read a room and people, after all, it came in handy at functions. Noticing another female around her own age, drinking alone and reading her facial expression, she had something on her mind and no one to talk to, something Dana knew all too well. Walking over to the replicator she pondered on what cocktail would go down well, would be a conversation starter and something Dana actually liked.

Dana quickly glanced around and leaned into the replicator, she lowered her voice to ensure no one would overhear.

"Computer, two sex on the beach cocktails with umbrellas and straws"

The computer made its usual confirmation tone and the replicator sprung into life, two large tall glasses appeared with multicoloured layers, a sweet peach schnapps, Vodka, orange juice and cranberry juice, topped off with an umbrella and straw, perfection.

Quickly picking up the two glasses Dana headed over to the women sat on the bar stool.

"Mind if I join you?" she asked offering out one of the cocktails.

Jenn turned over the person talking to her and then looked at the drink she was holding. She took the cocktail and then hit on the stool next to her. "Have a seat, Lieutenant." She said with a smile. "I am Warrant Officer Jennifer Masters. But my friends call me Jenn."

"Jenn, Lieutenant Dana Wakefield, Chief of Operations and I really don't have any friends aboard, but I answer to most things," she said sitting and taking a refreshing sip from her own cocktail. "Just what I needed," she said that warm fuzzy feeling spreading through her body.

She took a sip from the drink too. She nodded and said, "You do look like you needed a drink, Lieutenant."

"That, I do, So have you been aboard long?" Dana asked, taking yet another sip of her cocktail.

Jenn, "Yes, my first assignment since my return to Starfleet. Maybe you haven't seen me around that much, cause I spend most of my time down in the SCIF, the intelligence lab." She shrugged. "I don't have that many friends myself. Just a few, and most of them are in the intelligence department. Its easier to talk about work with them then anyone else on the ship. You don't know who to trust and who has clearance, which is also important. Not everyone has clearance to know what I am doing all day." She grinned. "So, you are the chief operations? I got a feeling I am the chief operations in another life. Kind of strange if you think about that. Don't see myself on the bridge." She giggled.

"So how come a good looking girl like yourself with a great taste in drinks," what did she know about drinks "don't have any friends on board this ship? I would think the Chief of Operations would meet more people every day than I would serving on a ship."

Dana paused, that was a good question, pondering for a moment she gently took another sip "Oh I'm new aboard and I guess, I've been keeping myself to myself, I'm not used to socialising on my own, but there comes a time when every girl needs a drink and some company." she said lifting her glass. "And what about you, I dare say you look like you have a lot on your mind."

"I got promoted. And my love interest seems to avoid me. We haven't seen each other for a long time. Including some time away from for a training. You don't get to be Warrant officer like that." She grinned and then sighed. "I am not sure what changed. I mean yes, I was promoted. I am his boss now, but that shouldn't change anything right?"

"Did you ever consider asking him?" Dana said bluntly taking the final mouthful of her drink. "After all, things in life do change, sometimes peoples feelings change, they get jealous or they just plain on tend to use you." She offered, going off her own personal experience. Pausing, she offered a reassuring smile. "But either way, if you ask, you can rather work it out, discover there is a problem or end it and both move on, another drink?" She asked signalling her glass was empty and trying to deflect from what were deep words of advice.

"Yea, that sounds great," Jenn smiled and handed her empty glass to Dana. She waited for the the operations officer to return. "Thanks for that advice. I am the chief intelligence officer now, I should be able to step towards to a man and ask how he feels right now, right?" She chuckled. "So any plans for shore leave?"

"Of course, and if you are his superior you could even order him to answer you," she said laughing handing another cocktail to Jennifer. "And shore leave, I was going to stay on the ship, but I actually think I'm going to let me hair down for once and actually go down to the planet," she said pondering on the things she could do, and on the top of her list was a message, she could feel the tension knots. "What about you?" Dana asked, now sipping her second cocktail.

Jenn sighed. "Well, I hoped to get another date with Billy, eh...senior petty officer Calhoun. And you're right I could order him." She laughed. "Which would feel weird though. Ordering someone I actually care for real deep. You know if another date isn't happening, got a room on that transport of yours?"

"Well I've bagged myself a nice sea view bungalow, you and your date should pop in for a drink, I was thinking of inviting some of the crew across for a meal and drink, a sort of getting to know my fellow officers better, situation."

"I think that is a great idea. I'll be sure to ask Billy." She smiled.

"Excellent, I look forward to seeing you down on the planet" Dana said, downing the rest of her cocktail and slowly getting to her feet "Oh, and if you ever need anything, a listening ear, a shoulder to cry upon, you know where to find me," she said with a smile.
