Mission:
Episode 4 - The Sum of Our Parts
Location: Sickbay, USS Feynman
Timeline: MD002 0845
"Well, better than dressing in the dark, Fletcher" She replied. They had been friends for years, it wouldn't be right if they weren't throwing insults at each other.
"That's Commander Fletcher, Ensign." He mocked, sticking his tongue out.
"Very funny Jamie, you'd never take a commission, let alone a command role, too much like responsibility."
"But Mom, he is Commander Fletcher, and why are you in my uniform ?" A young blonde woman asked, coming over from a tent.
Mom ? El thought, then things started to get all spinny and black.
May 29 2394 0845 hrs (relative time)
Jamie strutted into sickbay, his usual confident self, almost dancing along to a tune in his head.
Sweeping his hair back, he greeted the doctor "Alright, Sophie ? How's our patient this morning ?"
The doctor shook his head, at Commander Fletcher using another female name to address him, the human idea of humour (and this crew in particular excessive use of it) still annoyed him.
"Commander, if you insist on mis-naming me, at least keep it consistent." the doctor replied.
"Sorry, Dr. Ph'San, it was only meant in jest." Jamie replied, feeling genuine regret.
"Indeed. As you requested, Ensign Keddie is currently resting having been given a pain reliever for concussion and should be discharged to duty once he wakes up, with no long term effects of our guest falling on him." The Elcorian replied.
"So, what about our guest ?" Jamie asked.
"I have her sedated for ship's safety. A genetic test shows she is Lieutenant Elen Diari, but if you look at her epigenetics, layout of scar tissue, and antibody profile, they do not match Lt Diari's medical records. Most glaringly, this person has never been pregnant." Ph'San showed the display above the biobed giving this information, as if Jamie could understand it.
He just nodded, feigning knowledge "So who is she then ?"
"That I do not know. I have ruled out a clone, as she does not have the telomeric damage associated with cloning, or any other genetic augmentation or duplicity." the doctor continued.
"One thing I did notice is that her epinephrine and cortisol levels are dangerously high, so whoever she is, she has been in numerous stressful situations in a very short period of time. I would recommend keeping her rested until they naturally fall."
"Alright Doctor, do that. I will talk with the science staff and see if they can find an explanation." Jamie answered.
"As long as you do not involve the younger Diari. I do not think she could cope with it, another reason This person is sedated, to suppress the telepathic response, which could damage the psyche of Ensign Diari" Ph'San said, showing what could be thought of as concern if he could express emotion.
Jamie looked quizzically at the Doctor "humm, didn't think of that."
