Mission: Episode 4 - The Sum of Our Parts
Location: Jennifer's quarters
Timeline: MD001 08:00

Jennifer had just braided her hair and was sitting in front of her mirror. She heard her badge beep and the communication officer on Duty said, "Petty officer Masters, we have a communication from Lieutenant Masters for you."

Jennifer sighed a bit annoyed as she whispered, " What does she want?" She then answered the communication officer, "Please send it to my quarters."

She turned on her computer and the face of her sister appeared. She had cut her hair and colored it dark red. "What on Earth did you do to yourself, sis. Computer please playback recording."

"Hey Jennifer, it's me, Linda. I know you said you never wanted to talk to me when you left the academy. And I suspect it was because of what you were doing back then. But now that you have returned I send you this in the hope to reconcile with you. You know I just wanted to be there for you as a sister.

I am doing well, still piloting the USS Siberia. I got married a year ago and congratulations, about a month ago you became an aunt. So how is life for you? How are you doing on the Pioneer? Anything interesting happening? Please reply to me as soon as you can, maybe we can get together again and talk." She then held up a baby. " This is Emily, my daughter."

Jennifer looked at the baby as the playback paused. She closed the message and got up. It drove her mad the nice behavior of her sister towards her. She never liked her sister. And yet her sister tried to stay nice to her. She was the favorite of her parents and the favorite of her aunt. She was perfect. The perfect starfleet officer, the perfect pilot, the perfect daughter, sister. And now she had the perfect family. Then it got to her, she might be a bit jealous of her sister.

Maybe she wanted to be normal as well. But could she be a good mother or husband. She never thought about that. Not until now. She remembered she told Billy she was willing to try a future with him, growing old with him. It hadn't been on her mind until now. Would that entail having children?

She shook the thoughts away from her. She wasn't ready for that. She walked to the entrance of her room and left it. She headed to the Intelligence offices. She needed to do something to keep the thoughts away for now.
