740 words; about a 4 minute read

Mission: Academy Days
Location: USS Pioneer - Brig
Timeline: Present Day

Petty Officer Dilucca, you have a personal transmision incoming. Do you accept?

Came a voice over the comm, Heidy smiled to herself in the few seconds before replying, there were some advantages to being back around home base, although the fact this could be one her family did take the edge of that thought. "Of course put it though." As she positioned herself near the workstation terminal

Reminder that personal correspondence it's limited to third minutes

Heidy didn't reply it was a standard reminder of something she knew all to well. She brightened up instantly as a face from her past appeared on screen, changed slightly but still familer. "Dee! I finally caught you honey"

"Emm, yeah you me pinned down for a bit, how've you been? The Reshi in dock I take it."

"Not exactly. I'm posted to Starbase 108, experimental division." The blond haired woman on screen said with a leading tone and knowing look.

"You got assigned to that test program, pleased for you honey. Real pleased."

"It pretty intense program, lots to do, but everything it should be. The Pioneer trekking Cardassian space, you still with security?"

"Yeah and yeah." Heidy responded with a bit of sigh. "It's eventful around this part of space for sure.it just....you know.......didn't think I end up security especially those same early days remmber."

"The blond woman laughed a little as she slumped back in her chair. "I remember Fleet code lectures, workshop sessions......"

"Coduct drills, inspection........ohhh those inspections, how many did we pass by a hair"

"Honey, honey to many." She responded partly overcome with a fit of giggles at the memories this chat was evoking. "That 11 minute one was legendary or it should be."

"Was that the one where you launched stuff at my bunk?" Heidy asked with vague recollections of the event.

"And dragged your cover off, all to get your lazy butt out of bed." She responded with a pointed finger still in the middle of a giggle fit.

"That's right sorted all the clothes, while you dibbed the shower first." Heidy said starting with a giggle fit herself, her mind now recalling the events clearly.

The memorie of her younger self in a mild state of panic, flinging open closets, casting about the room picking up clothing items as fast as she could, standing between he two open closets she fold and tossed each item between the two. Emily emerging from the shower area before she was quite done, depositing them in her closet. Then darting past, her blond bunkmate into the shower.

Emerging a few moments later, to a half dressed Emily juggling and sorting padds, Heidy made a line for the still open closet grabbing part of her uniform hop-skipping into the pants and shrugging the shirt on while grabbing pins and clamping her teath on them. She glanced around, almost smiling as she grabed the jacket, neat beds, neat work stations, neat closets, they'd almost done it. Glancing at the door as she done donned the jacket, they just needed a minute. Both of them in position, Heidy dropped her arms just as the door opened.

"THAT was so close, and then that chiefs slow pace round the room, he could drag that and build tension like no other. What was his name Chief, Chief....." Heidy continued as she tried to remmber the man's name.

"Chief Nijan..yeah he was..... Then he pulled that PaDD, one of yours in my workstation. I nearly died." Em admitted.

"Yeah he called us on it. Then paused of course. Commended our sense of team work. Another pause. Then passed us with the comment, discipline includes keeping things in order, on duty and personally .

Both recalled and both repeated his parting statement. "Crack that and you two will go far.

"I think we're doing alright." Emily said with a smile, now calmed for the giggle fit. "I'm mean that Dee. Your doing alright."

"Thanks Em." Heidy responded genuinely to her long time friend and supporter, she hadn't forgotten that Emily had stuck by her, even in those times she'd rather forget, would she be aboard the Pioneer with out that support, probably not. That simple reassurance from her was always welcome. "So how are the little ones....."
