Warrant Officer Tobias Beckett left a small stand in the main promenade of Empok Nor with a beverage in his hand. In all honesty it was uncommon to find the Warrant Officer with out a mug in his hand. Walking into the turbolift with a small bag over his left shoulder he said, "Upper Pylon Four." The doors opened to a a small airlock with a view port with the USS Pioneer in all her glory on the other end.

Tobias wasn't impressed by Starships but this was going to be his new home and she looked like a spaceworthy vessel. Placing his palm on the console in the airlock his personal codes were transferred on to the ship and it was a short walk to the turbolift that lead to the Bridge. It was unusual for a crewmember that wasn't an officer to be allowed on the bridge of a federation starship, but then it was far more unusual to have a department head who wasn't at least a commissioned officer. Warrant Officer's received there commission upon reach the rank of Chief Warrant Officer.

Standing in front of the Captain's ready room Tobias looked down at his hand and realized that on his way up he hadn't gotten rid of his mug of Raktajino. Oh well, I guess my new CO should get to know what he's in for, thought Tobias to himself as he hit the chime for admittance.

"Come..." Tyler said as he hastily swallowed a sip of his raktajino. He was settling into his ready room and getting his 3d chess set unpacked. Tyler was still amazed at the sound of that, my Ready Room. He turned to face the new arrival. "Ahhh, yes Mr Beckett how are you this morning and welcome to the Pioneer." He picked up his cup and placed it in the replicator as he got a fresh one. "Can I freshen your cup?"

Tobias looked down at his mug and shrugged. "Why not?" Tobias handed the almost empty mug to his new Commander. Placing his bag on the floor by his feet he reached down and produced his orders for his CO. "My orders to the Pioneer Sir."

Tyler took the orders and placed them on his desk. He was getting a little stifled by the protocol. He knew who was ordered to his ship because he requested them. Tyler took the man's cup and had the replicator produce another cup. "Welcome to the Pioneer Mr Backett, here is just some basic information. The SCIF is on Deck 9, the Pioneer's Marine detachment will provide 24/7 guard duty for you. The only people allowed in there unchallenged will be you, your staff, the XO and myself. Is that understood?"

"The XO has level 10 clearance on this ship?" asked Tobias. He wasn't used to anyone but the Unit Commander being given access to the shop, but hell it was his ship. "Understood Sir," replied Tobias, "but I'll have to read her on. Just as I read on all my staff."

"Yes of course read her on, I trust my XO at times more than myself. Here have a seat." Tyler motioned to the couch. "Listen I am not used to operating with an Intel division. However, the Task Group Commanding Officer is a fan and wants them on all the vessels. That being said, the SCIF is your baby, you do what you feel needs to be done. I have one condition, anything you find you let me know. Write me a report if it is minor or come to me and tell me immediately. I do not want anything hidden. Do you have any questions for me?"

"Well Sir," Tobias let his eyes relax so he could catch all his Commander's reactions. "I think you have answered more than you know. I came into this office wondering what our mission was and if I'd even really have a mission here. As I walked I noticed a PADD on your desk with information regarding the Badlands. When you sat down you flipped it over. When you asked if I wanted a refill of my rakt you reached out with your right hand which tells me you are right handed or should be at least. The box that contained your 3d chess set has what appears from here to be a genuine Stetson so I assume you like your self an old western holoprogram and the coupe de ta. From how organized I see all the boxes you are unpacking I would take it you come from an Ops background."

From what he read on the Commanders face went from unimpressed to wowed. "You don't have to confirm any of that of course. Your face just did, but I'd rather not know if I was right about my crew members, especially not when it's my boss."

Tyler smiled broadly, "Remarkable simply remarkable. I can at least tell you of your mission here. We will be patrolling the Cardassian borders and yes among that is the Badlands. There are still enemies to the peace that the Federation and Cardassia are building. Your job is to find them, among other things. I consider you a member of the senior staff of this ship and as such I have faith that you will do your best in all things. I would like weekly intelligence reports. Oh, and you were half right about the hat. While I did enjoy western holo novels, I am a cowboy at heart. Oklahoma born, so when I'm off duty in simply Tyler." He sipped his Raktajino.

"Fair enough Sir," Tobias was ready to head down to the SCIF on Deck 9 when he turned and looked at his Commanding Officer. He had not been dismissed. "I'm sorry Sir, if you don't need anything else I'd like to check out the SCIF."

"Just one more thing. Computer, transfer the SCIF lock out to Warrant Officer Tobias Beckett. Authorization Malbrooke-phi-99365" Tyler said to the computer.

"Acknowledged, USS Pioneer Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility now under the command of Warrant Officer Tobias Beckett. Awaiting Intelligence Officer's security code." The computer's voice responded.

"This is Warrant Officer Tobias Beckett, security code Bravo-Tree-Four-Two-Omega"

"Acknowledged, Warrant Officer Tobias Beckett now serving as Cheif Intelligence Officer USS Pioneer." came the response from the computer.

"Well Sir," Tobias smiled at the Commander, "Unless you have anything else I'll go see me new shop."

"Indeed, you are dismissed Mr Beckett." Tyler said as he smiled to his new officer. Tyler thought that although he may not be used to Intelligence departments on a starship, he would get used to this man.
