Mission: Episode 13 - Crooked River
Location: The Snake Pit - Deck 9 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD003 1000hrs

Azure had just completed a shift in Sickbay and was her way back to her quarters.

Mercy was just leaving the Marine firing range.

Sina was hunting on holodeck 2. She watched as Tarlak (similar to a Earth goat), moved out of the undergrowth into the forest clearing. Silently she rose her bow and a notched an arrow. Aiming at the animal, she pulled back the string. Letting out a breath, she fired the arrow.

It flew through the air and hit the Tarlak in the neck just below the jaw. The animal feel to the ground and Sina went to claim her prize.

As she approached it, a Fre'Ta (a large feline animal) burst from the undergrowth.

Sina moved backward slowly, keeping her eyes on the animal. When she reached a safe distance, the animal ignored her and began to tear the Tarlak apart.

"Computer, end program." Sina ordered.

The room reverted to its default setting.

Sina collected up her gear and headed back to Marine Country.

Merrick was taking a walk through Marine country, getting the lay of the land, he was also taking stock as to who would be a part of his tactical team. There were three ladies in the team, and he sent a message to them.

=^= Ryan, Thompson, and Ravenna, this is Lieutenant Merrick please report to my office. Merrick out.=^= and then he went to his office and waited for their arrival.

Hearing the message, Mercy stopped by her quarters briefly, to stow Ruby, before heading to Lieutenant Merrick's office. She was new to the Cure and had only met a few of her fellow Marines.

Azure had wanted to take a shower and slide into bed, but duty came first, and she made a bee line for the Lt's office.

Sina made her way to Marine country, deciding not to stop by her quarters, instead taking her bow with her to the meeting.

Mercy arrived at Merrick's office, followed shortly by Azure, and finally Sina.

They introduced themselves to each other, before Mercy, as the ranking NCO, activated Merrick's door chime.

"Enter!" he called out and when the ladies stepped in there would be chairs for all of them to sit upon. "Would you ladies like something to drink before we talk?"

Mercy said. "I'll have a ginger beer, Sir."

"Strong black coffee, for me, El-Tee." Azure replied.

"A glass of water, please, Sir." Sina said.

Merrick handed out the drinks and then got himself a coffee and sat down. "Starting with you, Ravenna what's your likes, dislikes and what is you speciality and skills in the Marines?"

"I'm an outdoors person, I enjoy hiking, camping, swimming, archery, and hunting. I dislike liars. I'm a pathfinder, and a trained recon Marine. I have keen senses and can move quietly and quickly through jungles and forests, and can track most animals." Sina replied.

Merrick gave a nod, then turned to Azure next. "Now besides you being a great brewer, if I recall right. You're up next to tell me your likes dislikes and your specialities and skills" taking a drink of his coffee, as he waited.

Azure smiled. "I enjoy gardening, military history, and martial arts. I'm not fond of the cold, must be my human genes, and I hate the Andorian government. I'm a medic, botanist, and have studied herbal medicine. I also dabble in plant genetic engineering and have used this to create plant-based weapons." She said. "As for skills, I can detect disturbances in the air with my antennae, and drink most people under the table."

"Plant based weapons?" Edmund's eyebrows go up at this. "I've got to see these. I've never heard of something like this before." he looked at the others, "Have you seen any of these weapons?"

"No," Sina and Mercy almost said in unison. "But, I am intrigued." Sina added.

"I could give you a demo, later." Azure said. "I usually use them to deactivate enemy security and tactical sensors, as these are normally configured to pick up humanoid lifesigns. This make sense, as otherwise the movement of plants in the wind would set them off."

"I am most definitely interested in seeing this demo. Okay any questions you have for me?" Edmund deciding to turn the tables on himself. He had no clue what the ladies would want to ask him but he'll answer them to the best of his ability.

Mercy was the first to speak up. "El-Tee, what combat experience do you have?" She asked. "You do have some, or is that silver bar, just for show?"

Edmund regarded Mercy, with a keen eye. "I've been in a few conflicts, nothing I wish to brag about. And I can hold my own." he responded, "And I did earn this silver bar. Started from the ground up when I resigned my commission with Star Fleet Security. "

"Fine, El-Tee, I just like to know who I'm working with. I've got nothing against Starfleet Security, in fact one former bosses was ex-Security, this was when I was part of Starfleet Intelligence." Mercy replied.

"To be straight forward, you can count on me to be in the trenches with you and the others, leading the charge when going into battle. I am not one to stay in the back and just call out orders. Like Tremble who goes into battle as well, we are not afraid to get our hands dirty. I've studied several styles of martial arts, since I was young so I do know how to fight." Edmund added.

"Good to know." Mercy said. "And since you haven't asked, I'm a sniper and former Intelligence field agent. I enjoy dancing, old holo-movies, gymnastics and rum and raisin ice cream. I don't trust easily, I believe it stems from the fact that my father was a conman, and my mother was an Olympic gymnast and master thief."

Edmund looked at Mercy for just a small moment in silence then replied, "Ryan you are a part of the group, and I am glad you spoke up. Sounds to me like you will be working with Staff Warrant Officer Mira Jayna our Intelligence Liaison from time to time. Make certain you coordinate with her. And as for your past and where you came from, will that give any problem with how you work alongside with me? I am not here to judge and what happens in the past happened. What is important is the here and now. Will we work well together, I am hoping it is that way."

"Will do, El-Tee." Mercy said.

"Now besides my knowing how to fight, I've got things I like to do. I go sailing when I have the chance, both holo as well as on a body of water. I love to camp, I have danced. I paint and I also draw. Another thing I like to do is cook, when I have the chance." Edmund added.

"Well, if you cook us a meal, I'll supply the alcohol." Azure said with a smile.

"You've got a deal. You'll have to figure out what you want me to cook ladies, I'll even toss in a dessert Triple chocolate cake." flashing a dazzling smile. "Other than that, it would be fun. Wonder if Empok Nor has an area for a bbq. Going to have to see if it does. Food tastes best when in an actual sort of outdoor setting."

"Oh, I do like chocolate." Sina added.

"I will definitely be making certain I have that included with the food." Edmund replied. "Anything you ladies wish to add to this discussion? Any other questions?" making eye contact with them all.

"Do you hunt, Lieutenant?" Sina asked.

"Yes I have hunted but haven't for a long while, I take it you are a huntress?" Edmund replied. "And if so what style do you use for hunting?"

"Yes, and I hunt with a bow and arrows, I have a holoprogram that mimics the fauna and flora of my homeworld." Sina said. "The program uses algorithms to make each hunt unique."

"That would be interesting to see, an example of your homeworld." Edmund stated. "I am looking forward to seeing the different sides of all of you ladies." giving a smile.

"Sorry, El-tee, I'm spoken for." Azure teased.

That gave Edmund a momentary pause, then a slow smile appeared, "Now isn't that a terrible thing, Sergeant Thompson I was truly hoping to see 'everything' giving a wink, then he chuckled. "Nah you don't have to show me um all the sides of you. Just different aspects.." his voice trailed off, " Now look what you did, Sergeant I'm going to have to watch what I say when you are around." grinning ear to ear.

"I don't have a partner, I don't make friends very easily, where I grew up, showing weakness made you prey." Mercy said. "I spent a lot of time alone watching holos of Cary Grant movies." She added. "He was my first crush."

"He is a classy guy, I do like his movies as well. And also love Audrey Hepburn as well as Sophia Loren. Give me the classics those are great movies. Fred Astaire. I could go on but those are definitely classics." Merrick replied, "Well ladies on that note I am thinking we can call this meeting at an end."

"Thank you, Lieutenant, I believe I will enjoy serving with you, sir." Sina said.

"What she said, El-Tee." Azure said with a smile.

"You have a good taste in movies, but I'll reserve further judgement, until I see you in action, or taste your food, which ever comes first, Sir." Mercy said, a brief grin crossing her features.

Merrick laughed, "Always best to use the rule of Actions speak louder than words. Until next time." he added. "Okay dismissed."
