Mission: Episode 13 - Crooked River
Location: After 11 - Deck 11 - USS Pioneer
Timeline: MD002 2030 hrs

Jayna was walking down the corridor toward After 11 with Kaylara to have a drink. It was a chance for her to get a feel for the new member of intelligence in a more relaxed setting. The Pioneer had a way of attracting an...eclectic...group of people, especially in intel. That the petty officer was Romulan just made the department more interesting.

As they rounded a corner, Jayna slowed. She recognized the man coming toward them, although they had yet to meet. And now seemed like the perfect opportunity. "Lieutenant H'ros Re Seva?"

Ja’sol looked up from his PaDD as he heard his name and observed the two ladies coming towards him. He gave a bow with a hand florish. " I am indeed Ja’sol H'ros Re Sava. " He said with a warm and gracious smile. " I see that you ladies are both with intelligence, You have saved me a trip there, for that I thank you. I was going to grab a bite to eat first before heading down there. The Captain has tasked me with an investigation and told me that I may use whatever resources that were available on the ship, Would you ladies care to join me for a bite to eat while we discuss this ? Or should I make an appointment first and discuss this matter with your department head? I shall defer this choice to your kind wisdom ladies "

Jayde looked at Kaylara with a raised eyebrow, then smiled. "We would be delighted." She'd wanted to meet the new security officer and this would be a good opportunity.

"Indeed," Kaylara added, inclining her head.

" How delightful. " Said Ja’sol. " And here I thought I was going to dine alone this evening, Instead I'm dining with two intelligent and charming companions. Sadly the topic of our discussion is unpleasant however. " At that moment the waiter arrived at the table and asked if they were ready to order. Ja’sol smiled. " I am indeed ready and know what I'd like. May I have 300 grams of medium rare beef steak, A sweet patato with butter and brown sugar. A green salad with blueberry vinaigrette dressing, a large coffee and for dessert vanilla ice cream with diced mango and drizzled coconut milk. " He looked to the ladies. " Sorry, I worked straight through my lunch today so I'm a bit hungry. And what would you ladies care for? please, it's my treat. Oh and by the way, I never did catch either of your names. " He said with a warm smile.

"Small steak for me, too, medium, and a green salad," the Romulan said to the waiter. Then she turned to Ja’sol. Ï'm Kaylara Loran and that's Mira Jayna."

"Just Jayna," the Vulcan replied. "I'll have a chef salad and a glass of tomato juice." She had to go back to work for a bit and wasn't sure she'd be done in time to make other arrangements, so a light meal now was all she wanted.

The waiter disappeared with the orders and began prepping the meals. Ja’sol leaned forward and spoke in a soft voice making sure no one at the other tables could over hear. " I need the Intelligence departments assistance in locating a federation officer who has vanished. His name is Lieutenant Commander Calvin Quaid, and he was the strategic operations officer at Empok Nor. I'm sure you heard about the attack upon the station and the fight we had to retake the station, Well it was Commander Quaid's codes that were used to lower the shields that allowed the attack to occur at the station. Station security discovered the use of the Commanders codes and searched the entire station and were unable to locate him and there is no record of him leaving the station. Shortly thereafter, the computer system of the Pioneer was hacked and altered in a way that it made the Pioneer look like it instigated the attack on Cardassia Prime. This could have started a war between the Federation and the Cardassian Union in which millions could have died. There is a working theory that Commander Quaid may be a Maquis Sympathizer who tried to start a war. Think about it, The Maquis gets what they want, Millions of Cardassians die and the Federation does they're dirty work for them. If the Commander is a threat to the security of the federation, then he needs to be found and brought in for questioning at the very least. This is why I've kept this conversation in a hushed tone as not to attract undue attention. Do you think your department head would like to hear about this? As I said I need all the help I can get right now. "

Jayna raised an eyebrow. She was very interested. She had been undercover on Empok Nor when it was attacked. Some of her other research might tie in to what he was working on as well. "Yes. I am quite familiar with the attack, and would be happy to help you with your research. I also believe Commander McGowan would like to know about this as well."

Kaylara nodded. "I just arrived, but I'm willing to help as well. Get our boss's go-ahead, and I'm all yours."

Ja’sol looked to both of the ladies. " Jayna. " " Kaylara. " " Thank you both for hearing me out and showing kindness to one such as I. I am newly arrived aboard the ship my self and just found out that I'll be replacing the outgoing security chief. I haven't met to many people on the ship as of yet and thank you for sharing your time and company with me for this meal as well. " He said with a warm smile.

"I hadn't heard that the Commander was leaving," Kaylara said, looking to Jayna. "Did you?"

"I saw something about it, but I didn't know he'd been replaced." She turned her attention to Ja’sol. "Congratulations as well as welcome aboard."

" I'm as surprised as anyone else. My orders were to come here as the new assistant chief and I was getting to know the chief when the Captain walked in and informed the commander that his transfer had been approved and to start packing and let me know that I was now the acting security chief. One must learn to roll with the punches and keep moving. It's the only way I know how to keep moving forward, Might have something to do with my upbringing. " He said with a grin.

Jayna nodded. "Life is always full of changes." She hadn't read his personnel file yet, so asked, "What about your upbringing has taught you about adapting to change?"

" One of our planetary neighbors would appear out of nowhere and take advantage of certain situations, Sometimes even referring to us as thrice-cursed liars. Some of my people would work for them and get paid very well, while others ignored them and did as they pleased. When you don't know who your dealing with, one tends to gauge and test others to see if they are trustworthy enough to be called a friend, failure to do such may have resulted in forfeiting ones breathing privileges. They could be a rather suspicious lot towards those not of their ilk.
