Elloma had been coming to After 11 for the past two days. She was not really sure what to do with her evening. She had completed dinner and managed to take a small vibe shower and change over, she saw a dress she wanted to try out.

She replicated a white dress fancy in design. It was not very revealing but it was form fitting and sleeve less, but around her shoulders it made an x pattern design around the front of the dress. She put on on some diamond earrings and combed her hair back and put it in a pony tail.

She looked around the bar and and took a seat at a table, she had ordered a lemon drop, she found she liked the taste of them. She sat in the chair, wondering what to do with the night. She was minding her own business, when she sensed a presence, that brought a smile to her face, she looked up to see him.

Larim entered wearing a blue coat over an open white shirt and blue pants. He smiled as soon as he saw Elloma. He went over to the bar and ordered a drink. "An Adelbaran whiskey please." he said. A glass was filled with the green liquid. "Thank you.' he said.

He walked over to Ellomas table and smiled. "Mind if I join you?"

"Not at all sir. Please have a seat." Said Elloma, as she smiled. Finally someone to talk too. If she wanted to be alone, she would have stayed in her quarters. She kept eye contact with her commanding officer.

"Thanks a lot." he said.

"I'm not familiar with all drinks, what is that?" She asked, noticing it had a slight order, not a bad one, but it was green. Maybe it was romulan ale she had been hearing about.

"It's Adelbaran whiskey. Had it once at the academy." he smiled. "Developed a taste for it ever since."

"Whiskey huh, I like my drinks a little smoother, this lemon drop, is sweet with just a kick of sourness." She suggested as she took another sip. "What brings you by tonight?" She asked, trying to strike up conversation.

"Just to unwind more than anything else." he smiled. "Heard about the place from scuttlebutt around the ship. Figured i'd see for myself."

"Life on the Pioneer that bad?" She asked, hoping she only misunderstood his intentions, with his last comment. She was not sure, but maybe he was referring to social pressure. She needed to ask for clarity for herself.

"Love it here." he replied. "Just this morning was hit by strong emotions like a ton of bricks." he said, referring to an earlier incident with the ships counselor.

She did not understand, but she knew it was better to accept the answer at face value and move on. "Me too, so different than the academy, and the bartender is trouble but in a good way." She suggested with a grin.

He finally took a seat. He sipped his drink, which had a kick he was still getting used to. He read her grin and chuckled. "A lot of interesting people around here, I gotta agree." he smiled, making a note to meet this bartender when he got a chance.

"I wish the academy had prepared me for social life on a starship, a lot of people are friendly but their motives are so apparent. It's hard to meet friend that is not trying to take off my clothes, or stare at my body. It's frustrating, how do you handle it sir?" She asked.

"I just play it by ear. Being empathic sure helps but I don't want to use that as a crutch." he said, he sipped at his drink. "My advice. I guess it be read the situation as it arises, and nip it if it gets too far."

"I guess I am using my empathetic abilities to scan the intentions of others, it maybe wrong, but at the same token, I am curious does someone want to get to know me, or just use me? So far it seems like the later. But as you said sir, nip things before it gets to far."

"I get where your coming from." he said, nodding. Having not had that happen to him as much, he didn't really know what to say save what they taught him in security training. So he offered an ear to his assistant.

Elloma took a sip from her lemon drop. This was better drink than that horrible synthol drink they introduced her back at the academy. She could sense her commanding officer was trying to be friend, but he was hiding something. But what. Does she call him out on it. Or move on, she wondered. She decided to move on. "So how did you meet Lax, maybe if I hear how you found a mate, it would make it easier for me to do so." She suggested.

"You really want to know?" he asked. "Ok." he began

"I was heading back to my dorm from a self defense class. Commander Skorr's. I don't know if you had him or not. Anyway. I was walking along, cutting across the quad when I saw her gabbing with her friends.

I don't know what It was. The way she had her hair or something. I just had to talk to her. Turns out we had some of the same classes. Got to be her friend. Turns out our backgrounds are sort of similar. It took some doing but I finally got the nerve up to ask her out. The rest is history. We got married at graduation."

"So it was like a feeling, you knew when you met her? Or did she have something in her hair?" She asked being a little confused? So far no one she approached, had given her that feeling, the feeling of talking to them, to get to know them better. She did like the Chloe made her feel with the cute notions and calling her spots. But it was not the same.

"That's exactly it." Larim smiled. "First off. I saw her sitting there. The way the sun hit her I was like "God. She's beautiful. I've gotta talk to her. Then it went from there."

Elloma was fascinated by his story. "Did Lax, talk to you?" She asked, being a little nosy, but also wanting to know how this encounter went. She was a hopeless romantic, and his story had the making of a romance novel.

"Not when I first saw her." he said, with a small laugh."It took a few days for me to catch her without her friends then I struck up a conversation with her, to get acquainted more than anything else." he took a sip of drink. "But eventually we got to be friends. In this process I worked up the nerve to ask her on a date."

"We were freshman the both of us. The other years flew by seemed like." he was blushing.

"That is amazing, I found the academy to be a transition period, leaving Krios and coming to Earth, was a cultural shock, but in a good way. Most of the guys I met, only had one thing on their mind, and it was not friendship. But I am happy that you two were able to find each other in the chaos that is the Academy." Suggested Elloma.

He nodded. "Thank you." he smiled, although sad to hear about her experience she'd just mentioned. "Tell me about Krios? Get to know you better, we can work together better." he offered.

"I prefer not to talk about home, needless to say, my family is against me joining Starfleet. I descend from nobles, and in their eyes service to Starfleet is for commoners." She said, hoping they could change the topic.

"Fair enough." he said. "Didn't mean to offend you or anything." he said. He grimaced, hoping he didn't make her mad or anything."We can talk about our impressions of Earth or something?"

"I'm sorry sir, I know your intention were sincere." She said, feeling embarrassed that she did not want to talk about her past. She was more interested in her future than her past.

"Earth is a diverse planet with a rich culture, I loved the academy, loved the people. As I said earlier, I wish I was a little more prepared on how to live on a starship. Things are so quiet in comparison." She said.

"Have to agree. Grew up on betazed myself until 2374. Evac'ed to Earth. Had a few "culture shock" moments but mom helped with that, giving me a "crash course."

Elloma wished her mom was as caring as his, she wondered what that was like. To have a caring mother. She did not want to dwell to much on that thought. "I appreciate you keeping me company." She said with humility.

"Sure thing." he smiled

The two of them talk for a while longer. Until it was time to call it a night, they both went their separate ways.
