Mission:
Episode 12 - Risin' To Risa
Location: Risa
Timeline: MD009 0900 hrs
Risa.
A planet that needed no introduction for any member of Starfleet. A planet known for its beautiful beaches, good food and more than friendly locals.
None of that was on the Andorian mind today. Oh she'd know the comfort of a few of the local girls and the planet exquisite food, but right now that felt like it was on another planet.
Breathing in deeply she fell backwards off the boat and into the planet's warm waters. A few kicks from her legs and she was sinking into the depths. As the sunlight faded her swimsuit Photoluminescence stripes burst into life surrounding her in a bubble of yellow light. She smiled through the artificial gills she was using for this dive.
Everything was going fine.
With another kick of her legs she was moving following the island down until her eyes found what she was searching for. The magma tube wasn't hard to miss with the blue light hanging upon it. With another burst, she was moving into the tube going into the dark depths of the ancient structure.
The local fauna changed from the fish of the Risian seas to bright photoluminescence crustaceans gently burrowing into the depths of the ancient volcano.
As the andorian moved forward the tunnel slowly began to shrink giving her the sense of what her ancestors must have thought of descending into the underworld.
Just as the tunnel looked like it would become impossible to move through the expanse opened into a massive open void. She had reached the magma chamber. Lit only by the beacons it was easily several miles across. Bringing up the holomap on her arm she checked her location before heading down into the void.
She felt the rush of being the first of her kind to have ever seen any of this as she kicked her way down into the void. The risian girl she'd meet last night had mentioned the at the moment unexplored passage down at the bottom if she could only.....
Her torch panned across the rocky floor sending numerous fish and crustaceans to flee into the gloom. It took her ten minutes of scanning the floor before her touch fell on the black gloomy-looking passage. Drawing a marker from her backpack the andorian slipped it into place
With that, she was down into the new tunnel down into the depths of the volcano. The further she went the more narrow it became. Soon she was crawling rather than swimming. As the touch pushed forward she groaned as it eliminated a dead end.
It took her longer to head back to the surface. Taking the breather out of her mouth she breathed in the clean ocean air. With one finally swim she was back on dry land looking up at the sky as she laid on the hot dry beech sands. Life was good. The next day she had to get her flight to the starbase. Her new home would be waiting for her there.
The next step in her life.
