"I'm starting to think this is a small ship." Kalina said, with a big grin on her face. She was leaving the science lab, when she noticed Ameri approaching her direction. She wondered where Ameri was off too.

It would be inappropriate to ask. So instead, she decided to make the silly comment. Hoping to get her to respond to the comment, and be able to get the answer she desired.

“I’m off to get something to eat.” Ameri said with a smile. “Would you like to join me?”

"Aren't you dining with the Captain?" Kalina said, not wanting to ruin any lunch plans Ameri might have with Quinn?

“He had something come up.” Ameri explained. “Being married to one of the command officers you know it comes with the territory.”

"The life of a captain." Kalina said, wondering what had comed up. His loss was her gain. She was not looking forward to eating a lone too.

“In any case.” Ameri smiled. “I’m hungry so let’s head and get something.”

"I like the way you think, Ameri." Kalina said, hoping that it was alright to call her by her first name. She knew they were friends, but where to draw the line, was still a bit of a mystery for her.

“I find it much more enjoyable to eat with family or friends.” Ameri confessed. “When I saw you I was so happy to have a friend to spend time with.”

"I know how you feel, I feel the same." Kalina said. Even though she was knew, she felt right at home with Ameri and Quinn and even little Enya.

“I treasure friendships like ours.” Ameri said as they entered the lunchroom. “You haven’t been on board long but we have become good friends.”

"I feel the same, with you. Coming to the Pioneer has been a good call." Kalina said, with a warm smile on her face.

“I’ve learned over the years that true friendships on a ship don’t come along often.” Ameri said with a smile. “The Pioneer seems special that way.”

"She is a unique starship, that is for sure." Kalina said, with a humbling smile on her face.

“And it seems to attract a unique crew as well.” Ameri smiled.

"I believe that is a good thing, is it not?" Kalina asked, with a humbling smile on her face.

“It’s a great thing.” Ameri agreed. “A close crew learns a lot about each other and that can make a difference in tense situations.”

"What have you learned so far?" Kalina said, with a warm smile on her face. She was still trying to figure everyone out.

“I haven’t met anyone on board who wouldn’t stand up for the rest.” Ameri replied after a moment. “This crews gives one hundred percent and when needed more.”

"That is incredible, I wish some of my fellow classmates had that mentality when going through the academy." Kalina suggested to Ameri.

“We aren’t a perfect crew.” Ameri murmured. “But we are close enough for me.”

"I believe we are close to perfect, well as one crew can be." Kalina said, as she agreed with Ameri.

“And Zaire.” Ameri said with a smile. “How are things going with you two. If I may ask?”

"Well, he will make a suitable partner." Kalina said, the thought of bringing him up, made her smile. And feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

“I think you to look good together.” Ameri said with a smile. “Thought they are more important than looks.”

"He is a very attractive man, there is no disputing that fact." Kalina said, with a humbling smile. Her views might be tainted, but she thought he was attractive.

“A woman would have to be dead not to notice.” Ameri agreed. “What about on a personal level. Is he interesting to talk to?”

"Yes he is." Kalina said, not sure if she should say more than that. The connection two betazed's share was not really easy to describe. It could take a life time trying to explain in.

“Sorry.” Ameri said with a laugh. “I know your relationship is private. I was just curious if this match was a good one.” Her eyes were warm. “We can change the subject though.”

"I believe he is a good one, we get a long. And we communicate very well together. Especially telepathically." Kalina said to Ameri.

“That is important.” Ameri nodded. “I can tell by seeing you two together he really likes you.”

Kalina had a big grin on her face, as she looked to Ameri. "And I like him as well."

“I know you weren’t happy at first.” Ameri said quietly. “I am glad that this turned out better than expected. I know you wouldn’t want to let your families down.”

"Especially my auntie, she pulling a lot of strings. To be honest its annoying that she is giving me so much attention. I hate it." Kalina said, as she allowed herself to vent.

“Why do you think that is?” Ameri asked her. She wanted to hear what Kalina thought before she gave an opinion.

"Because I look like her late daughter Trey Solwick my cousin." Kalina said with annoyance in her town. Her Auntie Krisna was to nosy about her personal life, and she hated it. Krisna seemed to have adopted Kalina as a pet project since Trey was now gone.

“You think she is using you for a substitute?” Ameri said quietly. “Or is she trying to handle her loss by choosing to embrace those she still has.”

"I do believe that to be case." Kalina said, a little annoyed. But there was not much she could do about it. Her Auntie, was a high ranking diplomatic official, and she was an ensign in starfleet.

“I can see how that would be difficult.” Ameri nodded. “But it’s hard when it comes to family. What can you do?” She wished she had some way to make Kalina feel better.

"I hate admitting this, but sadly nothing. She is a high ranking diplomat with a lot of connections." Kalina suggested to Ameri. She hated the fact, but there was nothing she could do about it. Starfleet would not step in, especially since Krisna was very high up in the diplomatic corps for Starfleet and the Federation.

“I haven’t had to deal with any family issues like that.” Ameri confessed. “We don’t see that much of my brothers or my Dad.”

"Why is that? If I may ask?" Kalina asked, wondering what the story was there. She seemed to be the type of lady, that everyone liked, and wanted to talk too.

“My brothers are serving as well.” Ameri explained. “It isn’t often our paths cross or we are on leave at the same time.” She smiled then. “And my Dad is kind of an adventurer. He’s always going off somewhere.”

"That sounds like a pretty cool family to be apart of . Hopefully someday you will be able to see them again." Kalina said, as the scene starts to fade away.

Ameri smiled to herself. She didn’t dwell much on her family. They called each other regularly and that would have to be good enough. She was proud of her brothers and knew they were of her as well.
