Timeline of Events

Following the Dominion War, Cardassia Prime plunges into an economic crisis. (2379/2380)
The Cardassians refuse to extradite members of their government and military to stand trial for war crimes committed during the Dominion War and the occupation of Bajor. (2381)
In 2382, 472 Cardassians from the Bajor coalition's war crimes list disappear from Cardassia Prime within four months.
In the following year, Cardassia Prime is swept by a resurgence supporting religion and spirituality.
Although the Federation Council and the Union support leaving the established borders of the Federation-Cardassian Treaty of 2370, the Bajor coalition demands the Cardassians to surrender colonies granted to them in the treaty. (2385)
A new treaty between the Union and the Federation is signed: While the Cardassians agree neither to field a military nor to wage war, Starfleet is assigned to protect Cardassian space if an invasion should happen. In response to the agreement, the requests for prosecution of Cardassians for war crimes is dropped by Bajor. (2386)
The military is reformed into the smaller Cardassian Self-Defence Force, or CDF, the following year. In addition, the CDF's operations are restricted to Cardassian space. As part of the treaty the Federation and the Cardassians rebuilt Empok Nor and set it up as a major trading post and the head of Starfleet efforts in the Cardassian Sector.(2387)
Democratic Elections are to be held to decide the future of Cardassia and the Cardassian Union. Elections on Cardassia are supervised by the Federation. The civilian coalition led by Elim Garak narrowly defeats the hardliner faction under Gul Marrat, who demanded the withdrawal from the latest Federation-Cardassian Treaty and the resurrection of the military. Gul Marrat begins finding displaced military officers and offers them positions in a new mining enterprise. He acquires rights, allowing him to mine several mineral-rich planetoids in Cardassian space. He has a large mining operation built on Septimus.(2390)
75 warships and a undetermined amount of weapons known to have survived the Dominion War are reported missing by an audit authorized by the Detapa Council.(2391)
Gul Marrat claims that the CDF cannot protect his mining operations and contracts Alpha Jem'Hadar for security.(2392)
USS Firebird discovers the presence of the New Maquis in the Badlands.(2394)
USS Firebird transferred from Empok Nor, USS Juno Vesta Class Starship replaces the Firebird. (May 2394)
USS Pioneer engages the New Maquis in the Badlands. Takes possession of a Maquis base named Breyet Nor. (May 2394)
USS Pioneer disappears while attempting the rescue of Cardassian scientist Dr Tavik Zojal and his team. The ship reappears from a temporal anomaly about a year and a half later in October of 2395. (May 2394 - Oct 2395)
The USS Pioneer is granted some much needed Shore Leave at Casperia Prime. It is here that the return of the Obsidian Order is uncovered. (Oct 2395 - Nov 2395)
Cardassia Prime is taken hostage by the Obsidian Order being led by a Gul Typhon Prenar. The USS Pioneer along with the CDF and assistance from the Klingon Empire is able to effect the return of the Detapa Council. This comes with heavy losses to the Pioneer. Prenar escapes. (Nov 2395)
Empok Nor is taken over by the joint forces of The New Maquis, The Obsidian Order and The Breen. A joint fleet operation retakes the station. Gul Typhon Prenar is killed during the battle, however former Admiral Rodney Leyton escapes. The USS Pioneer is reassigned to Starbase Sirius on the Romulan Border. (April 2396)
Lieutenant Commander Vaebn tr'Hwersuil's sister Cadet Lyie tr'Hwersuil is kidnapped from Earth. She is taken to a Romulan outpost where a rescue is mounted by the USS Pioneer. The perpetrator is believed to be Ambassasdor Loval although he escapes. (October 2396)
First Contact is made with the Jutrai. Their home planet is the Jutus on the other side of the former Romulan Empire. The race seems friendly enough although their methods of learning seem to be outlandish. The First Contact goes well and it is believed that an ally is made. (October 2396)
