Mission: Episode 10 - New Home, Same Pioneers
Location: Commander O’Flannagains office
Timeline: MD011 1300 hrs

Enya rang her dads office door, sighing at her babysitter, one of the crew who brought her there. She had her homework in her hand. She was nine years old, not a baby she knew how to get to her dads office without being shown the way.

Quinn was in his office, and going over a few reports. The same reports that would be going to the Captain later on. They were mainly performance reviews, nothing to sensitive or classified. When he heard the door chime.

"Enter." Quinn called out, as he looked up at the door way, to see who was coming through the door way.

“Hi Dad,” Enya said with a sigh of relief. “My hologram teacher is offline and Mom can’t have me in Operations so she sent me here. I promise to sit and do my homework and not bother you.”

"Enya?" Quinn said, a little surprise to see his daughter in his office. He wondered what she was doing here. "Did you mother say, if she or Lieutenant Diari would be working on the holo matrix at all today?" Quinn asked, thinking it was a top priority, not because of her schooling, but for the sanity of the crew.

“Mom is working on it herself,” Enya explained. “I think she said the Lieutenant was gonna help her.” She sighed. “I can have a babysitter if I am in the way.” She didn’t want to but Enya knew her Dad had important work.

"Why would I hire a person to sit on a baby?" Quinn asked her in a teasing manner? He was trying to make her laugh, to break up her annoyance.

Enya giggled. “That is silly, Dad!” She sat down on the chair across from his desk. “Nobody sits in babies!” She laughed at him.

"or on babbies either for that matter." Quinn quickly pointed out to Enya. His snarky attitude was in full affect tonight.

Enya rolled her eyes and smiled. “You are funny.” She looked on his desk. “What were you doing?”

"Glorious life of a first officer. Reviewing reports." Quinn said, as he motioned for her to come around. "Grab a chair. Wanna be my Yeoman today?" Quinn asked her.

“Yes,” Enya nodded with a smile. She was excited to help her Dad.

"Good, I need these reports sent over to the Captain's Yeoman, do you remember her office?" Quinn asked, with a big smile on his face.

“Yes,” Enya nodded. “I will go drop them off and then come right back.” She grinned as she got up and took the reports. She felt so grown up, her Dad was trusting her with his work.

A short time later.

The doors swished opened, and in walked Enya. He could see that the Yeoman, had given her pads to give to him. "I see that Sophia is utilizing your talents as well." Quinn suggested with a big grin on his face.

"Yes," Enya said, excitement in her eyes as she handed him the pads. "She asked me to give these to you." She held up a can. "And she gave me some juice but she said I had to ask you if it was okay for me to drink it now."

"I suppose it is." Quinn said, with a warm smile. "Pull up a chair, now you get to the boring side of my job." Quinn said, with a big barrel laugh.

Enya pulled her chair over and set her juice down away from where he was working. "Paperwork?" she guessed with a smile.

"Its a term, an old term to mean a lot of files to process." Quinn said, as the scene starts to fade away, with Quinn going over all the boring details of his job.

Enya listened to her Dad as he told her about his job. She thought it would be boring but it wasn't at all.

Quinn was impressed with her little girl, she seemed to be interested in the daily duties of a first officer, he wished he could show her the bridge. But he knew, not push his luck with the Captain.

After a short time, they completed some more sets of reports. "So what do you think, of this process?" Quinn asked Enya, with a big grin on his face.

"I didn't think I would like it at all," Enya said after thinking for a minute. "But it was good to have you explain and I can see it." She looked at him. "I knew your job was important but I didn't know why, now I do."

"Well this is only part of it, this helps the crew get evaluations, and tells Starfleet how the ship is preforming as whole." Quinn pointed out to Enya. Hoping those details were not very boring.

"I get it," Enya said with a nod. "Then if someone isn't doing their job then you know to talk to them."

"Extactly right. I love to reward good behavior and hate issuing punishments. But its part of the job. These reports help with that." Quinn explained to Enya.

"I bet it's really hard when you have to tell someone they are doing a bad job," Enya said, looking at her Dad. "You always try to make people laugh and feel good."

"I try to do that too. And yes sweetie, it is very hard. But that's also part of the job. When you agree to be a first officer and a captain." Quinn started to explain, then he smiled. "Don't worry, we have a very good crew."

"I know," Enya nodded. "Mom says that it's the best crew in the whole fleet and you and Captain Malbrooke make everyone want to do their best because you are fair." She grinned. "I think she is right."

"I would not worry about performance reviews on this ship, we serve with the best." Quinn said, as the scene starts to fade away.

Enya smiled she loved her Dad even more and all that he did to help others. He was a good commander. The scene away.
