Mission:
Episode 10 - New Home, Same Pioneers
Location: O Flannagain's Quarters
Timeline: MD010 1015 hrs
Quinn was getting ready for the wedding. He had Enya eating a bowl of cereal, on one side of the table. While he was ont the other side of the table, doing the same thing.
He sat in his seat, and started to think how lost he felt, with Ameri being distracted all day with this wedding. And how much he needed her for the little things.
Then he felt really dumb, for being so co dependent on his wife. He knew he needed to change that. He loved his wife taking care of him, but he needed to learn to be dependent on himself.
Quinn told himself, that starting today he would become dependent on himself. No more feeling guilty for yourself. He felt like he needed this hard reality slap on the face approach.
As soon as he started to do that, a call came in from him. Quinn was not excepting it. The call was coming from Admiral Domingo Martinez. He wondered what he wanted.
"Admiral Martinez, what do I owe the pleasure of your call sir?" Quinn asked, as he was sincerely surprised to be getting a call from the Admiral.
"I'm here to offer you a command of your own." Domingo called out with a tone of excitement in his voice.
Quinn was a little taken by the news. He had not applied for any positions. He was very happy serving on the USS Pioneer.
"The Zaoyang is a state of the art ship, one of our best battle cruisers." Domingo started to say to him, getting ready to do his best sales pitch.
"I have no doubt of that sir, but I never applied for a command." Quinn pointed out to him, wondering why he was calling up Quinn. He was very content being on the USS Pioneer.
Domingo knew they were going to have to do this Quinn's way. He heard before that Quinn turned down a command in the past, well a couple of times. "Your name is at the top of my list." Domingo pointed out to him. "I have reviewed your service file, Commander you are ready for this promotion." Domingo pointed out to him. He knew that Quinn had turned down other commands in the past.
"I am truly flattered sir, I am." Quinn said, with a big grin on his face. The offer was very tempting. But he was not ready to move on just yet. He just arrived on the Pioneer back in September of 2395.
"You are an outstanding First Officer, with an excellent track record, you just need to take that first step." Domingo said, with a big smile on his face. "I can be that guy, that helps you take that first big step." Domingo pointed out to Quinn.
Nice line Quinn thought, as he continued to smile, and then went on to say. "I do appreciate the offer, but I want to be here on the Pioneer, my mission here is not yet completed. I am very close to completed it, and I would not feel comfortable leaving this post, prior to being on the ship for atleast two years." Quinn said to Domingo.
"I respect your loyalities to Captain Malbrooke and the crew of the USS Pioneer, but this a good command, and the best part is, its not a full time role. You will be able to live on Port Royale, or the planet below and be with your family." Domingo pointed out to him. He knew that family was important to him. It was special note in his file.
"That does sound very tempting sir, but I must inisist sir at this time, that I remain with the USS Pioneer, and complete my two year tour sir." Quinn told him, a calm and rational voice.
"Are you sure, I can not talk you into this?" Domingo asked him very polietly. "If you keep passing over commands, eventually command is going to stop calling you for this opportunity." Domingo wanted to point out to Quinn.
"I understand that sir, and in two years I would love to serious consider this offer sir." Quinn pointed out to him, but at this moment, he did not feel right about leaving the USS Pioneer.
"I'm going to hold you to that. I can not promise you the Zaoyang, but I will have another command ready for you." Domingo told him, getting a verbal agreement from Quinn.
"Yes sir." Quinn said, knowing that he would not be able to push this off any longer. In two years, he agreed to take on the role as Captain of a starship.
"Two years will fly by, will get you behind that captain's chair in no time." Domingo said, as the scene starts to fade away. Domingo was happy he said yes, but sad that it was not today.
Quinn thought to himself, well that chair is yours. Two years and counting. Quinn said, knowing he needed to talk to Tyler about this development.
He would have to reach out to his wife as well, and notify Enya that in two years, they are going to live on a station, and that his father will take command of a ship of his own.
Even though, that would not be today, it would be coming soon. Two years, she will 12 years old, and starting middle school. It would be a good chance, for her to be around kids.
By then he hoped to be placed on a non battle cruiser, so his family could come aboard. But he was not sure, what type of ship, he would be offered a command too.
He wondered how Ameri and Enya were going to take the news. If he got placed on the cruiser that allowed families, he would make sure that Ameri got another department head role at least. He needed to think about her career as well.
The scene starts to fade away.
